It's hard to say, Fedorov was always kind of flakey and it makes one wonder how much of his carrier drop off was mental. He's had many problems in his personal life and may let that effect his game. Now it's possible that he would have had less of those issues if he would have stayed in a more grounded community in Detroit rather that a western culture that is more "Liberal". Unfortunately we will never know.
I also remember that he was causing some issues in the locker room as well. I remember someone interviewing Yzerman and Yzerman asked the reporter to ask Fedorov why he was wearing a Hockey Sock on his head and kind of rolled his eyes.
Am I thinking of a different player here??? Isn't Lilja the same player that has sat on the injured list much of his carrier? Isn't it kind of risky to pay big bucks for a guy that is prone to long term injuries?? He's good don't get me wrong, but in today's cap era I think you can get a more durable player for the same cost as what he will want to sign for that will give you the same performance.
Anyway, for me it is two different styles of play. It's like comparing a Corvette to a Mustang. Different drivers like different things.
Personally, I think Pavel is better, but I never saw Igor play in his youth.
I kind of agree, however I think its more like comparing a Corvette to a Cadillac. Pavel is a fast and entertaining specimen to watch and can do things that make you take a double take. His ability to steal the puck from ANY player and that player doesn't even know it happened is something that amazes me every-time I see it.
Igor on the other hand played offense kind of the way Lindstrom plays defense. He made it look effortless and was not flashy. He seamed to always be in the right place ant the right time and with his pin point passing could make plays, seemingly, with ease.
Ether way, I consider myself very lucky that I got to see both players play for my team and got to enjoy both there immense talents. I couldn't say that one is better than the other but I do think that Pavel has a more entertaining style of play.
