Yep. It's all on Danny. Forget the fact that there were consistent and incessant f***-ups all over the ice last night by every one of our guys except Howard. This Cleary crap has become weirdly obsessive and way over-simplistic. And NO. I do not agree that he is consistently the worst player on the ice.
That's fine, I think a majority disagree with you though. He was responsible for a 2 goal swing alone (Not shooting/not covering his man). Anytime he touches the puck he turns it over, he will try to skate into the zone, dump it to them, or trap himself against the boards and have it taken.
Cleary is the worst player we've had in a while. I think the only reason he has points is because pucks bounced off him. I swear he is the Brandon Inge of The Red Wings we can't get rid of this guy. Tootoo couldn't possibly be worse.
I thought the Wings played good enough to win, and Hiller just wasn't going to let it happen.
A few people on this board should really reflect on their opinions before they express them. They scream the Wings will be a lottery pick at the beginning of year. Then when that changed, we are just going to be medicore, then we won't make the playoffs. Now we do make the playoffs, those same people previously stating we won't do anything, are now complaining about us losing Game 1, against the number 2 seed, at their rink, and with a terrible line up and combos all year long (according to majority of the board). So which is it, is it SC worthy and under achieving or is it a lottery team that is over achieving?
Best part is, we have players on this team right now that are holding us back. Once the Clearys and co. are gone, a lot of GR will be pushing. We seem like we have massive depth in both defense and offense in the next few years. I believed this year was; If Babcock missed the playoffs he would have been held responsible, however if the team got in despite everything, he deserves the damn Jack Adams.
I have no idea what Babs is doing here but why do we have Damien Brunner playing the point when in fact he is not a sniper, probably one of the weakest players on our team when it comes to shooting (besides Helm) and he is not a good defensive forward. Give me Kindl!
I'm going to have to disagree as well. I don't like him on the PP point, but he in my opinion has a fantastic shot
He needs to sit for Tatar
I also disagree with this. Cleary needs to sit, he provides nothing
Might be because he plays against top lines and him and Pav get double teamed all the F'n time!!
So do a lot of other stars. Of course most of them also are surrounded with more talent or better work ethics. Can someone explain why we have sat, Brunner, Eaves, Tootoo, Nyquist, etc. Yet Dan Cleary continues to play....
I love Mrazek I really do. But Jimmy is here for the foreseeable future. Adding young big forward to our line up will make us a more effective team for the next 4-5 years, and Couturier has all the potential in the world to be a great player.
I don't see the downside, we lose a blue chip goalie, for a blue chip forward. The difference is we actually have a good goalie that will be here for a while, while our forward depth looks pretty barren for bigger top 6 caliber prospects.
Now unless you think Mrazek will step in next year if we let Howard go, I don't see how this deal doesn't look appealing.
Mrazek is going to be the back up in about 2 years, then once Howards contract start coming to an end, they will probably split until Mrazek slowly takes over.
WTF is the hate on Brunner for? They scratch Nyquist, Brunner, Tatar? Yet they kept Cleary, Franzen, Abby (yes I know he had a hatty but until that point?)...
