#2587857 3/31 GDT : Senators 2 at Red Wings 1 (SO)

Yeah, if only the Wings could be like the LA Kings, you know, they win every year and never are in danger of missing the playoffs. Or maybe the Blackhawks.  A team like that wouldn't fall into a wildcard spot.  I mean, really, Holland should've had the foresight to get a star goaltender like Devan Dubnyk.

I can't imagine how exhausting it must be to have such unrealistic expectations and the constant negativity as a result.  I don't love the Wings losing, but I think there are fan bases of twenty or so other teams who wouldn't mind having a team like the Red Wings.

Dude we need to win every game by 10 or else everyone on the team sucks

lol look at Kindl's stats this season compared to Brendan Smith's. Kindl has 1 more point and more goals despite playing less than half of the games of Smith. Also Kindl is a + player compared to Brendan's -

Smith is young and has had a revolving door of partners, I think he has gotten better since he's been with Zilidicky, what's Ericssons excuse? Also if we are picking apart young dman, why is Dekeyser also immune?

We are playing much better than they are, bad luck happens. We will win

Kindl played very well when he was recalled, i have no issue with giving him another opportunity.

The old subtle inteference bitching, as if they don't do any of the sort

I don't know, Quincey has been pretty good this year and D seems like he's in a bit of a sophmore slump.

#2563354 Could the Wings be better off trading Pav & Hank for draft picks?

We have a great chance at winning the cup, what the f*** are you even talking about?

#2549162 Mantha getting closer.

Is it just me or does Mantha sound more foreign than most of our Swedish and Russian players?

Edit: and holy s*** I just had the sound on and had to scroll up. I could have swore that was Babcock not Blashill

Wow people are really freaking out.  We played like absolute s*** the last 2 games and almost beat both teams.  Tatar/Jurco just need to adjust, hell it seems as though you can see those 2 slowly emerging from their slumps. Calm down everyone

#2542705 Toronto Radio: Illitch is selling everything and Babs will be Leafs GM

Posted by ben_usmc on 20 October 2014 - 06:46 PM

No chace Mike Illitch is selling the team while his son is taking over day to day operations of Olympia Ent.  Think about this; Illitch is known for being a loyalty/family man.  You really think he'd sell the team out from under his own son?  That would be a huge slap in the face.  I would possibly believe it somewhat if it said Chris Illitch were to be selling the team. I doubt that to be the case as well.  If he did that it would be removing a large part of the legacy the Illitchs have provided for Detroit and the family is much to intrenched in the city for something like that to occur.

#2532617 2014 Prospects Tournament and Training Camp (Sept. 12-23)

Posted by ben_usmc on 20 July 2014 - 10:17 AM

The Red Wings have announced the dates for the 2014 Prospects Tournament and Training Camp. Does anyone have advice for attending the events, and is anyone thinking of going to either of the events this year?

Karate Chop Ken Holland in the face and ask him what the f*** his problem is

#2532418 Babcock Interview on 105.1 this morning

Posted by ben_usmc on 17 July 2014 - 08:45 PM

I am not a huge fan of Babcock the last few years, but that was a great interview today.  It didn't sound like he was willing to commit to Cleary and accepted they may have dead money on the books.  He also sounded confident about an extension.

#2531465 Wings re-sign Cleary $1.5 mill + $1mill in game bonuses

Posted by ben_usmc on 11 July 2014 - 05:22 AM

Getting upset over the NTC is just looking for an excuse to complain. We all agree it is not a good signing. We get it. The NTC is a minor detail that Cleary asked for to prevent ending up somewhere like Buffalo. It isn't a big deal. He wouldn't get traded regardless.

I do think calling for Holland to be fired over this is overreacting. You'd think he traded Hank and Dats for a 5th round pick with what's being said about him. If Cleary has a bounce back year, then great. If not, no big deal. His career as a Wing would come to an end. No harm done. But some are acting as if Holland blatantly passed on guys like Vanek or Richards just so he can sign Cleary instead. Doesn't work that way, folks.

Seriously what the f*** are you talking about? Losing Cleary was addition by subtraction, the fact that this piece of s*** is taking both money from the cap and a roster spot from a more deserving player is exactly why Holland should be fired.  Not to mention the countless other terrible moves he's made the last 4 years. The NTC is just icing on the cake.

Just curious as to what you'd do different? Throw huge money at UFA's and handicap the team cap-wise? Trade away all our best players to get a few years of lottery picks, and hope we luck out and get future superstars? Trade all our prospects for impact players so we can be a great team for 4-5 years then just have to go through all of this all over again? The team spent the last few years stocking up on young talent. We are now beginning to see the benefit from that.

Sure there were some frustrating signings along the way like Sammy, and this one here today. I'm not saying Holland has been perfect. No GM in this league is. But management as a whole has done a nice job of building lots of depth in the prospect pool that will give this team a chance to stay competitive for years to come. These kids won't become big time players overnight. It takes time.

I'm not here singing Holland's praises. I'm just saying that based on his overall performance as a whole, people are blowing it all way out of proportion. I get that we all have our own opinions. The Cleary signing gives many people another reason to let loose on him. But when you take a deep breath, step back and look at the franchise as a whole, it's going in a pretty good direction. Hardly a nose dive some make it out to be. One year of Cleary doesn't suddenly derail that.

Sincerely, A guy who dislikes the Cleary signing

Really?  So we haven't been relevant since 2009? How much good faith do you give someone before they are in the hot seat, I think 5 years of not doing the right moves is enough of a sample size to call for changes.  What did he do to fix losing Rafalski?  what about Lidstrom? Or Stuart? Oh at least he brought in Bert, Sammy, Tootoo, Cleary x2, Coliacavo, Williams, White, Commodore......Yep you are right, we should all swing from Hollands nuts because he f****** managed to put a team together a decade ago, in an entirely different league.  Most fans do not pay to see there team bring in players because they are bffs with thef****** GM, they pay to have the best product available, and I question any fan who would ask otherwise out of their team.

the money isn't an issue. it's a roster spot and the reason why he was signed that people should have an issue with

I have a bigger issue with the out right slap to the face of an entire fan base
