#2451503 Tootoo Waived

Posted by ben_usmc on 06 November 2013 - 11:58 PM

All GMs make mistakes. Fortunately, all of the questionable 2012 contracts (sans that of Tootoo, who could be bought out if necessary) will expire this summer, as will that of Cleary.

but how the f*** do you make a mistake an entire fanbase can see before hand?

Sortof off topic but ive been checking out Tomas Jurco n the kid looks insane. Only 2 pts behind Nyquist on the griffins. Anyone have any idea when he'll crack the lineup? Next season?

Jurco was insane last year in the playoffs too.  Dude seriously had the puck following him.

You people would honestly rather have Tootoo on this team than Cleary?

Shows that Babcock and management believed Emmerton and Tootoo were the bottom of the totem and I would agree with them.

Zetterberg-Datsyuk-Franzen
Bertuzzi-Weisse-Alfie
Tatar-Andersson-Nyquist
Abdelkader-Helm-Cleary

Think the forwards will look like this in a few weeks

yes.  Tootoo is a better hockey player than Cleary in every facet of the game. I am well aware of Cleary playing on the PP/PK but he is still just a blackhole of talent.  He makes anyone on his line worse.

Wish the players would have started swinging into the crowd like they did back in the day

Dream lineup without upgrading through trades

Zetterberg-Datsyuk-Bert
Alfredsson-Weisse-Franzen
Nyquist-Andersson-Tatar
Abdelkader-Helm-Cleary

??

We need Nyquist!! On two other notes, Jurco is looking good in the AHL as well and when Cleary going to go on "LTIR" like Sammy and Mule have when consistently playing like s***.

#2449372 Edler trade proposal

Smith is lebda 2.0

Watch us trade him and his career end

There is no way he is as bad as Lebda

Broke Back Bert is the only one of the older Babcock crushes that is actually some what producing on the ice.

f*** you Ken Holland for signing Dan Cleary

#2447714 What's Killing Our Offense?

Posted by ben_usmc on 25 October 2013 - 01:24 AM

Miller is good with proper linemates and in the proper context, as is Abdelkader. Their thus-far poor performance is not Holland's fault, nor is that of Stephen Weiss. Cleary is atrocious, though I don't think anyone could have anticipated him being this bad. Samuelsson's contract is not a problem right now, but his presence on the roster is.

That said, this team has the tools it needs to win.

buls***, a lot of us did

We all notice Franzen when he plays center. Not sure what his face-off stats are, but if they're decent work him there. I think Babcock wants his offense but that's not happening anyway so put him in a defensive role for now.

I know this is at least the 2nd year where people have been clamoring for more Mule as a center.  Last year when he was center he was just as a effective, of course if it works Babcock says f*** ti.

Tatar and Tootoo  were noticeable out there, in a positive way

#2444035 Fight ends with on-ice seizure

Posted by ben_usmc on 13 October 2013 - 07:17 PM

Or you could keep those necessary elements while just banning the unnecessary element; fighting. Skating on ice is an integral part of gameplay in ice hockey. Fighting is not.

I get that you're just playing devil's advocate.
But it's only a matter of time before someone says, "people will still get hurt from hits, so you want to ban hitting too?" I hate those arguments because all they do is obscure the point, which should be the minimization of UNNECESSARY risk. Hockey will always be dangerous. I just don't see the benefit of making it more dangerous than it needs to be.

I don't believe in banning fighting, nor do I have a ton of sympathy for people with injuries sustained from years of being a pro athlete.  Most of these sports have been around for almost 100 years, if you do not realize the dangers before receiving a pay check you're already brain damaged.  When a solider has long term knee problems from years of running, or a fire fighter is burned while putting out a fire, nobody is shocked.  These guys are paid an insane amount of money to play a sport. I'm not going to cry for them because they are putting there bodies out there as a result.

#2442576 So....did Cleary just take Tatar's spot?

Posted by ben_usmc on 07 October 2013 - 07:32 PM

Tatar is benched for Thursday against Phoenix.

Played 9 fourth line minutes (lowest on the team) with zero power play time.  Dan Cleary, however, managed to trip himself 4.5 times with nearly 15 minutes of ice time.

When asked what Dan Cleary brings to the team, Cleary apologist Helene St. James said

"Helene St. James ‏@HeleneStJames 6h

@Walravenjordan: @HeleneStJames name 1 thing Dan Cleary brings besides being "Good Locker Room Guy"?”/2nd leading playoff scorer, 1st v CHI"

A very relevant point as we are still in the playoffs and this is still June.

even more relevant if he you know added context.  Cleary 2 goals were literally bounced off of his body by Datsyuk, and 1 was an empty netter, then what 6 secondary assists..... Unless of course points tell the whole story I guess St. James is saying Cleary>Datsyuk, because you know points mean everything.  How about the 40x  Cleary just losses the puck on the boards, or falls and gives the puck up?

please someone sign into twitter and call this person a ****

#2436009 Report: Cleary to sign with PHI, 3 yrs, $2.75m/yr, NTC

Posted by ben_usmc on 12 September 2013 - 09:37 AM

Have you seen me disagree with this?

That's a bit harsh. I'm mostly worried about whom he's going to replace.

Hopefully it's a contract that can be buried easily in the minors if need be.

You know I would normally say that's a bit harsh but I am dead serious. Any GM that feels Cleary is a productive member of a SC team obviously has lost it and should no longer have control, and any coach who would play such a useless player on the top 2 lines or even dress him should no longer be leading a team.  What's next Cleary to play on the Olympic team too?

f*** you Dan Cleary just leave already!  If Ken Holland resigns Cleary, he immediately should be fired, I'm not exaggerating.

#2431734 Tootoo back to Nashville?

Posted by ben_usmc on 28 July 2013 - 07:01 PM

Of course we should keep Sammy who couldn't stay healthy at all last season and pay him $3 mill. While we get rid of any actual muscle we have, going into a more physical division. I hope these are only rumors.
