Thanks, I had checked Don's twitter earlier and didn't see anything. I missed this!
By the way, anyone think that the Wings should offer to let Gordie lie in state at the Joe for a bit like the Habs have done before with some of their greats? I'm remembering they did that with Beliveau just a couple years ago, seems like they did it with Rocket Richard as well.
Why is everyone so anti-McJesus on here? Ok, so he didn't play half the season, but when he did he ended up with the 3rd best PPG in the league this year. Isn't that pretty good? I don't think he should get it because he didn't olay a full year, but you can't blame the league for nominating him when clearly he's the best rookie by a mile, especially coming back from a broken clavicle.
I hate the NHL hype machine too, but you can't deny that the guy is a superior talent. Would Panerin have scored 30 if he didn't have Kane feeding him all year long whilst on a career year?
I don't think they're against McDavid as much as they are against the joke shortlist that the league popped out.
Panarin - He's 24, turning 25 this year, and has played 4 and a half seasons in the KHL.
No Jack Eichel. Wtf? Five years younger than Panarin, second in goals and points amongst rookies behind Panarin, and in his first pro season of any kind. Nope, not included. Ok....
I stand corrected, but still do not care. Like I've previously said. Nobody will care about what the building is called come game time. There are also much worst companies that could have bought the naming rights.
The guy who lives in Newfoundland doesn't care about how an deal arena done with US taxpayer funds is handled.
I know, how dumb we are for preferring the name reflect the culture, history, or people of our great city instead of acting as an advertisement for sub par pizza. Perhaps we should build an alter to Mike Illitch in Campus Martius Park and ritualistically bow each time we pass since idol worship is now something to be proud of.
The arena is partially financed with public funds, so its not asking too much to have the name reflect the public, and not corporate, interest.
But that's just me. I'm a dreamer...who also played attention in civics class.
It shows a complete disregard for the community, city, and fans. If Mr. I wanted to advertise his barely-edible pizza chain, why didn't he class it up a bit with this effortless move:
Little Caesars Colosseum?
Even Little Caesars Forum sounds better.
Fitting though, the name choice is as subpar as the product it advertises.
I said the same thing in the GDT but Mrazek is the golden boy of the board right now. First was real bad. 2nd he overplayed. Third he was out to far on what he thought was gonna be a shot and had to go to far to try and cover it leaving no chance to get to the deflection. If Howard was in net and made the same saves and allowed the same goals all this thread would be full of is how Howard cant make the big save and is poor going side to side.
I don't think Howard would have made THAT mistake, of shifting waaaay too far over. That was something that seemed like a 2nd year player mistake, someone who isn't seasoned. I'm not giving Mrazek a pass, as that was a really dumb play, but he was nowhere near the worst player tonight. Not even in the Bottom 5.
