It's gonna be hard for barry trotz to say goodbye to the nashville predators,if he gets a job somewhere else, the guys has a tattoo of the Nashville Predators Logo,he got it,because he said he was a Predator for Life
I think you guys are going to feel something like when Scotty Bowman went to the Hawks...albeit in a minor role, but he still was in the front office and did photo ops in a Hawks jersey! That was difficult to take.
Fischer seemed to think Jarnkrok was possibly our best prospect:
Hes certainly one of our most talented, if not the most talented prospect, Fischer said.
Not to take anything away from others like Anthony Mantha, but Calle, the stuff he can do he is as good as anybody in terms of hand-eye coordination and skill in tight places.
He makes plays and its just a matter of time until he really starts putting up big numbers.
Too bad KH didn't ever read that email from Fischer
Just to put this trade in perspective as to why some of us don't like it, here's some examples of trades where it makes it seem like the Wings got fleeced:
Moulson and McCormick for Torrey Mitchell and 2 2nd round picks.
Vanek and a 5th for Colberg and a 2nd
Meszaros for a 3rd
Gaborik for Frattin a 2nd and a 3rd
Hemsky for a 3rd and 5th
Rundblad and Brisebois for a 2nd
Luongo and Anthony for Markstrom and Matthias
Robidas for a 4th
Penner for a 4th
So to be fair, I'd say Legwand (contract expires this summer = currently a rental) for Eaves a 3rd and instead of Jarnkrok a 5th sounds like a deal ANY OTHER TEAM GOT TODAY!
Am I happy we got Legwand? Yes. Am I ok with what we gave up? No cause of Jarnkrok.
Only saving grace apparently after venting to my dad, apparently Jarnkrok was threatening to go to Sweden to play again per Malik, and getting fleeced in a trade by the Preds, we may have a future trade partner in them and he seems to think something big may be coming in the near future, possibly draft and that we're getting some centre from Russia.
This is absolutely right on. I don't understand why Jarnkrok was part of the deal. Eaves plus the pick is fine....maybe even then a slight over-payment. But why not just splurge and throw in a talented prospect, too? Here, take a few more picks while you're at it as well....
Holland is an average GM without his braintrust, and he just made an average trade. I'm not going to whine about it anymore, but average hasn't been in the Red Wings vocabulary for such a long time that this is difficult to take.
