#2329727 Jimmy D Speaks out on Lockout, fined $250k

Posted by evilmrt on 22 September 2012 - 12:59 PM

Well this just in, apparently the league is fining the Wings and undisclosed amount due to Jimmy D's comments. Here's the link.

HAHA! And Jimmy D really stuck up for Bettman! I guess that won't happen again...

whos the real ahole here? The players or the owners?

Both. After reading this interview, it is painfully clear that they both are pretty disgusting.

#2329183 Wings to Europe: Tracking which DRW players are playing where

Posted by evilmrt on 17 September 2012 - 02:35 PM

Damien brunner is already in Switzerland. He'll play with his former team, EV Zug.

That is only until the AHL season starts. He talked about this in the press recently...just playing a few games for EV Zug and taking care of loose ends in Switzerland, and then playing with the Griffs this season until the lockout ends (if it ends).

“The plan right now is to go back to Switzerland for a couple of weeks and then be back when the American Hockey League season starts, adjust to the small ice and get ready for (Red Wings) training camp,'' Brunner said.

He said if the NHL locks out players on Sept. 15, he'll return to Switzerland and play a couple of games for Zug, his hometown team, and then join the Griffins. He is exempt from waivers, enabling the Red Wings to assign him to the AHL.

“For three weeks there isn't really much to do here,'' Brunner said. “I would rather go back and get a couple of games to get in shape and come over with good confidence level and then get right into it.''

The Griffins season opener is Oct. 12.

Absolutely agree. Although, Mr. Ilitch probably won't get even most of what he wants out of this CBA.

LOL @ the "you're such good friends with Bettman, why don't you call him?" comment

#2326919 New Commissioner?

Shanny. Many on here called it a couple years ago when it became clear that he was positioning himself for a league job. Bettman might have to voluntarily retire first, though.

#2326836 Red Wings Alumni Showdown Roster

Joe Nieuwendyk

I guess the excuses for Yzerman to not participate since he's the GM of the Tampa Bay Lightning are invalid now that the GM of the Dallas Stars is playing for Toronto in the Alumni game?

#2326664 winter classic question...

Posted by evilmrt on 23 August 2012 - 09:52 PM

Probably not, since its an official NHL event, with the NHL logos and names and all of that.

That being said, it could easily go ahead re-branded as something else since its being held in a non-nhl venue. Probably without the current names and logos...maybe some old throwback names and logos would do the trick (Detroit Cougars vs. Toronto St. Patricks, for example).

#2325571 Prospects Tournament Cancelled

Lockout? What lockout? The prospects tournament was cancelled because Holland sucks! We don't have any prospects left! He traded them all for old men! Blah blah blah!

#2320992 Flyers sign Weber to offer sheet: 14y/$110m ($56m 1st 4yrs)

Well, that's that, then. Holland was never given the opportunity by Weber to sign the latter to an offer sheet.

Odd, I didn't know that under the current CBA, you had to ask for permission before you presented an offer sheet lol.

#2316761 Ken Holland, Post-Scotty Bowman

Posted by evilmrt on 07 July 2012 - 01:37 PM

Great analysis...and hard to argue with. I honestly had not thought of the Bowman connection. Holland does not look like the "best GM in the NHL" as many regard him as, post-Bowman.

That trade run-down is absolutely awful. Well, I guess he has this summer to finally make a good one :whatsthat:
