No offence to LGW but this is the last place I'm going to be during any of these games.

#2485575 USA-Canada Thread

Posted by evilmrt on 20 February 2014 - 03:16 PM

I obviously wish the US had won, but I was about as upset as I was when I caught the two man bobsledding team not win gold. Which is to say not really upset at all. Now if the US loses to Canada tomorrow you may find that I've thrown a temper tantrum and destroyed my living room.

#2484361 International Hockey Rivalries.

Posted by evilmrt on 16 February 2014 - 08:07 AM

Austria - Germany
Finland - Sweden
Norway - Denmark
Russia - Canada
Slovenia - Slovakia
Canada - USA is a big rivalry but I think. Canada - Russia tops that

Sent from my BlackBerry

This is all pretty much spot on, except Slovenia and Slovakia. I think you meant Czech Republic and Slovakia?

Amazing game and an amazing finish, anyone who missed this needs to watch the replay.

NBC really must be kicking themselves for not broadcasting this on normal NBC this morning

Two sides of the same coin.

Worst comment of the day.

He should sit out the round robin games, at least.

Tre Kronor. That is all.

#2483254 Wings go to Mexico

Ah, the good ol' days where Scotty took the non-olympic Wings down to a mini-camp in Florida are long gone.

#2483252 NHL players will not participate in 2018 Olympics (Mod Post #99)

Posted by evilmrt on 10 February 2014 - 07:31 PM

I agree with your injury theory, but how does the Olympics cost the owners money?

It isn't so much about the potential injuries as it is about missing out on potental profits. Imagine some kind of revenue sharing deal with the IOC/host country, as ridiculous as that is. I think that is what they honestly want.

"Their property" is playing for free on an international stage. Throw money at them, and they will shut up. Or better yet, replace the Olympic Tournament with an NHL controlled World Cup of Hockey, where money will roll right in to the BoG.

They should be so lucky. That's the Russian curling team captain.

You've sold me on watching women's curling. Thank you, sir. I almost missed this amazing sports event.

#2481795 Olympics provide much needed time off for Red Wings

Posted by evilmrt on 06 February 2014 - 06:08 PM

Helm getting rest, datsyuk hopefully getting his legs back in another situation less important (to us), Weiss going through his rehab assignment, Howard (hopefully) finding his form on a larger stage, plus the confidence that comes from representing your country.

As long as there isn't any major injuries during the tournament, it could be fruitful.
It just seems high risk/high reward,
(The higher risk being the obvious) pavel, and Z's back.

Good call. This could be the turning point for him this season. We can hope, anyhow.
