It isn't exactly highlight reel goals Weiss are scoring here but I'm sure he'll take them
From watching youtube clips of all of Weiss's career goals, he never really scores highlight reel goals. He has a knack for the net and is good at positioning himself to get the puck...hopefully tonight is a sign that he's back in form. I'm very happy for him, would be HUGE if he could be a legit second line center and put up a 50-55 point pace.
Wings fans are over-passionate and unrealistic so not surprised to see the negative reaction here. There are 30 teams all vying for the same goal and yet if the Wings don't win a cup every 3 or 4 years then the GM is a failure? The large majority of the teams in this league would give their left nut to have Holland at the helm.
Good signing, I don't agree with everything he's done, especially in recent years...but this team is positioned with a strong farm and should have a bright future.
Worst place to be in hockey. The Wings are turning into the Calgary Flames. Lingering in mediocrity and Holland is content to just keep the playoff streak alive. Honestly, it will never happen, but shouldn't the Wings consider moving Z and/or Pavel? They aren't true contenders and aren't bad enough to get high draft picks to make an immediate impact (or they rot in Grand Rapids for four years anyways). I don't know, after today, I'm just at a loss. Feel like it might be time to just tear it down entirely and rebuild.
I'm not quite as freaked out as most on this forum. Quincey is an overpay, we don't have much else to do with the money so it won't really matter.
That said, I could definitely get on board with blowing the team up. Trading Z and Pavel would net us some very nice picks/prospects....combine those with our current crop of young players and Detroit becomes a very dangerous team in 3 to 4 years. My biggest fear is that we continue this "rebuild on the fly" (which to date I've generally been supportive of as I assumed FA's still wanted to sign here) and end up as a mediocre team for the next decade.
The playoff streak is incredible and I, for one am glad they traded for Legrand to keep it alive.
I know everyone here wants to compete for the cup every year but with 29 other teams vying for the same thing it just is not realistic. The Wings need to go through their down years just like everyone else.
If they can "rebuild" on the fly and continue to make the playoffs throughout, all the better.
Where did I say andersson is good? The guy is a plug as well
Jurco is what we need as we struggle to score goals, not a slow, defensively liable, useless turnover machine prone to taking penalties against the best PP in the league..... the guy brings down whatever line he plays on
That line has done nothing in this series. Mixing it up by giving bert a shot for one game wont matter and most likely boosts ourpower play a bit.
A few days ago people wanted him to win the Jack Adams. Difficult for coaching to overcome the talent gap between the two teams. Despite this forums strange beliefs, there is no magic line combo that will turn the Wings into Cup favorites.
This forum has become pretty laughable with all the bashing that goes on here.
I'll admit when the Wings should be getting penalties and there's times when I even state that we've got away with them, but when you blow calls as bad as the slash on Kronner that lead to a goal then you have something to complain about.
People ***** about practically every play in every game. It is tiring.
So do you think the Wild need help from the refs, cause clearly the rest of us don't. 2nd goal was BS.
Bad calls happen all the time. It evens out. Every fan forum for every team is filled with fools who think the world is rigged against them. Psychologists have studied the phenomenon...its called selective memory, give it a rest.
