#2170174 Is the Sharks diving.....

Posted by greenrebellion on 09 May 2011 - 11:48 AM

I think they should make a rule change that basically states that if Team A slashes Team B and Team B embellishes, then the original penalty on team A is negated.  Otherwise there really isn't much downside to diving.  When teams start having to kill off diving penalties, it will be removed from the game pretty quickly.

Our effort tonight was disgraceful.

This, stop complaining about what the team can't control.  The reffing wasn't great, but they outplayed us for most of the game, the result wasn't that surprising and would've been had a lot sooner if it wasn't for Howard.

Datsyuk played almost 22 minutes, just 30 seconds behind the team leader Rafalski.  What an incredible game he played.

I rarely stop watching a game I've started watching, but I'm not in the mood for this on a Friday night.  Peace out,  gl wings.

I love the title change to this thread, truly epic.

Relax guys, we will be FINE in the playoffs, maybe not a stanley cup run, but we'll at least win one game in the first round.

Hope the defense shows up.

Defense seemed fine once McDonald was in.

#2132029 Whats your favorite "BAD" contract right now?

Posted by greenrebellion on 18 March 2011 - 01:20 PM

Why does everyone think Rafalski is so bad on D?  I mean I watch most Wings games, and I know he's no Nick Lidstrom, but he seems to hold his own quite well defensively.

Goals from some of our "cold" players, Zets and Flip!

Ever since McCrimmon took over.

I guess...its kind of surprising to me though that one man could have such an impact, especially when he's dealing with a veteran crew that should know what to do at this point without being given a ton of direction.

I love how the team can throw Cleary on any line in practically any role, and he still goes out there, works his ass off and produces.

#2124261 Wings sign Howard to 2-year, $4.5M extension

Posted by greenrebellion on 01 March 2011 - 03:11 PM

Niemi LATELY = Howie almost all of last year, stealing games.

How quickly everyone just forgets. Right now Niemi is the better goalie but an awful lot of goalies have stood on their head this year with better defenses in front of them. If the question you are posing is who do I want in net for us AT THE PRICE we got him for?

Jimmy Howard please.

Oh come on.  How often have we seen a rookie phenom fall off a cliff and disappear never to be heard from again.  So Howard had one great year.  Meanwhile, Niemi had a good regular season last year, a great playoffs, and despite a slip early in the year (Stanley Cup hangover or whatever you want to call it) has rebounded and is now supporting a .919 save percentage despite the weak start and he’s on a team with defensive depth problems.

At $2.25MM you’d really rather take Howard who struggled in the playoffs over a guy who has been there, done that in the highest pressure situations and proven himself to be more consistent?

Sounds like I’m bashing Howard, but I’m not.  I just think its funny how people think $2.25MM for Howard is a great signing, but Niemi at $3.8MM is horrible.

Not like Sharks have a bunch of options in goal either so they were kind of desperate but still in my eyes they got a fair price.  I would’ve preferred a shorter term as I’ve mentioned in some other posts, but a shorter term probably means bigger cap hit.

I was hoping for something around $1.8MM to $2.0MM, but I guess its ok.  Doesn't seem like any sort of hometown discount applied since I doubt he gets more than $2.25MM in the open market.

Why is howard way out of his net like that, you don't need to cut down the angle when the puck is off to the side like that.  Horrible positioning, horrible D, horrible PK.  But more on Howard than anyone else imo.
