#2231546 11/30 GDT : Lightning 2 at Red Wings 4

Is it sad that I've watched the replay of the Holmstrom goal about 15 times so far and I still can't get enough of it?

#2228961 Jiri Hudler Appreciation Thread

Fact is, Eva is trolling all of us and laughing hysterically at his computer since we are all so easily goaded.

This thread is too much. Hudler playing D at the NHL level, you have to be kidding me?

And the reason he had no chance on the Richards goal is because he's slower than molasses...his lack of speed certainly doesn't help his versatility.

Losing Rafalski's outstanding passing abilities certainly isn't helping in this department. Again, Ian White was a good pickup any day of the week, but let's be clear about one thing: we absolutely have not replaced Brian Rafalski yet. Not even close.

You wanna be really depressed, imagine what happens if we lose Lidstrom after this year.

#2222552 Thoughts on tonight's game/Season outlook

Posted by greenrebellion on 03 November 2011 - 10:36 PM

I say we tank and go for Yakupov.

Franzen - Datsyuk - Yakupov
Hudler - Zetterberg - Filppula
Abdelkader - Helm - Cleary
Worrell - Emmerton - Bertuzzi

Lidstrom - White
Kronwall - Stuart
Ericsson - Commodore

#2222551 F*** YOU Player X

F*** YOU Hulder for not living up to Eva's lofty expectations.

If you look at our top six, it just can't match up against a lot of teams anymore.

Bertuzzi is clearly on the decline and is more of a third line player.

I think cleary played above his abilities last year, he's a versatile player but probably fits in best on a third line role.

Datsyuk isn't the same datsyuk that he was so hopefully he returns at some point. (Might be his wrist).

Holmstrom, not anymore. Hudler, no he's useless.

I mean how many top six guys do we really have? Zetterberg, Dats, & Franzen.

Why were you guys all yelling shutout, you know that the reverse jinx doesn't work, it only helps them get the shutout.

Will the real Datsyuk please stand up.

#2199174 Chris Osgood announces retirement

He's been below average for 3 regular seasons in a row now...I've always been a big Ozzie supporter but I think bringing him back is a mistake.

#2193294 Wings re-sign Ericsson to 3-year, $9.75m contract

Posted by greenrebellion on 01 July 2011 - 09:43 AM

Negotiations probably went something like this:

Holland: We'll give you 2.25 million
Big E: Hmmm, close, but I'd need to know what my role on the team would be. I won't sign if I'm not a pivotal part of the D.
Holland: Oh for sure, we'll make you top 4 and use you in all kinds of situations.
Big E: Well in that case, I'm not signing for anywhere near 2.25 million, hahahaha.
Holland: F***, you got me.
Agent: Not sure what this kid pays me for, damn he's good.

Was funnier in my head, I'm on an hour of sleep here people, have mercy.

I'll die if we sign White. His defensive skills make Lebda look like a superstar.

#2189479 Babcock "pissed off" about Burns-to-SJ

Posted by greenrebellion on 25 June 2011 - 09:23 AM

How would we have gotten Burns anyway? Sharks paid a fairly steep price, it may pay off if they can win a championship in the next year or two but Wings couldn't have matched that offer.

Many are saying we should've thrown Franzen their way, but I don't think Franzen is equivalent to Setoguchi in terms of trade value. Setoguchi is younger, nearing his prime, still improving, and carrying a less burdensome contract in terms of years.

I think Smith would've had to have been involved to get Burns, and I think Holland is wise to not trade Smith given our lack of good, young D prospects.

I scored free tickets to the game! I'll be driving up from LA.

It will be interesting to see how Babcock adjusts the lineups now that he doesn't have last change.
