What's your solution? Shanahan's suspensions didn't seem to work as much as desired. And cheap hits in the playoffs have resulted in fighting. The Ottawa vs. Montreal series a few years ago turned into a fight fest due to a cheapshot. The 2012 playoffs had a ton of brawls and skirmishes in the first round.
Historically, though, there's never been as much fighting in the playoffs as the regular season. Even in the 80's or early 90's.
Honestly, I don't know that I have a solution, but I also haven't been tasked with it in any official capacity. I believe before fighting can be eliminated the NHL has to assume a stronger position against it, but there are at this time too many fans and consequently too much money, in support of fighting.
