#2573835 Zetterberg leaves after 2nd Period; "upper body injury"

Posted by Mckinley25 on 23 February 2015 - 05:48 PM

Again - the NHLPA has a say in every CBA concerning the fines/suspensions that the NHL may levy upon any player.

It's this very same NHLPA that continues to convince the BOG that fighting needs to be tolerated.

This of course invalids nothing that I've stated.

I'm not disagreeing here but the league won't oblige so what's the solution then. I mean if there's another option I'd like to hear it.What I'm trying to say here is this: if players have answer for the crap team mates are doing it will create accountability within that locker room because I don't think Seguin would be happy dealing with someone like Orr because Benn didn't want to answer for his cheapshot.I mean if the fines were harsh and the suspensions lengthy then ok but they aren't.Just to put things into perspective Avery got 6 games for sloppy seconds quote .. Cowen not even a hearing neither will Benn so should I really have fait in this safety department?Kliq yeah my bad what I mean is basically protection for our players whether they are stars or not doesn't matter to me. Star players were just used because if the recent incident.

Frank, I'll agree with you on one thing, Avery getting more games for his retort than blatant head shots is wrong.

I'm not defending Avery, but it illustrates an issue we see everyday where violence is accepted and sex isn't. Look at how censorship is handled on TV, murder is fine on prime time but show a nipple or backside and its a no go.

It's no wonder everybody acts out violently, it's the only socially acceptable way to cope with sexual repression! Well save for Brian MacGratton, I mean his girlfriend is hooooooott!!

#2572824 Do Maple Leaf fans deserve better?

The thing is Frank, when you work for a company you are generally considered a representative of that company and product. In this case he is the product. It's not like he's just spouting off sexist remarks to his buddies at the bar, he was using social media to discuss the Maple Leafs and I'm certain (despite our opinions of that organization) his comments did not reflect the ethical standards he is tasked with upholding as an employee.

I don't know all the details of what precipitated this tweet or what spurred the apology, but from the perspective of the Leafs organization it was certainly warranted.

I'm not sure any Toronto Maple Leaf should be speaking in the diminutive about any other group of people.  Being a Maple Leaf is about as low as it gets.  You're about one rung up the ladder from the guy who mops the floors at a sperm bank.

From now on when people aren't working hard enough or aren't tough enough I'll refer to them as Maple Leafs.

Isn't she the US of A?

Right, she's hot, but she's super high maintenance and kind of thinks she's better than everyone, but deep down there's good in her, she's just complex.

It's pretty obvious to me that frank's favorite NHL team is Canada.

We'll have you seen Canada's girlfriend? She's hot.

#2572391 Next Number to be retired

Posted by Mckinley25 on 19 February 2015 - 12:52 AM

After looking at the photo more closely, the sun doesn't reflect off his head the way it does his body so I'm leaning towards fake now.

I wouldn't mind lowering the super high exclusivity of our retired numbers policy.
In addition to you guys other arguments supporting #13 and #40, just being dominant two way players who spent their entire careers in Detroit and representing the Wings with 100 percent class should be enough. Bob Gainey is retired in Montreal I believe, so the Eurotwins should be up there.

There's a color version of the photo on Gordiehowe.com, I think it's real.

If a newb was reading this thread I'm pretty sure they'd be convinced we are all 12 year old boys

I've been here ten years and I still think that.

Why are they so keen on keeping Doan. I mean he's 38 and clearly past his prime

Doan likely isn't interested in leaving.

He's struggling a little but we're not losing games are we?   It's great that he's getting the experience he is getting.  How is he going to get "NHL experience" if he doesn't play in the NHL?

I agree, even with success at the AHL level, it's difficult and unlikely to have immediate NHL success. He needs to play and this is the perfect situation for him.

Well Kip, you should be happy with NHL.com as they wasted no effort or cleverness in coming up with a headline for tonight's victory: ZETTY LARCENY

I don't understand the need of the anti fighting group to belittle the pro fighting group.  I see it all the time in posts.  If you can't see it, then you don't, but I do.  So you're anti fighting, I get it.  I'm pro fighting.

Goodness, it goes both ways and you know it. Anti-fighters are constantly being blamed for the pussification of the game and being called "soccer moms" and all sorts of nonsense. It's actually garnered some of the most constructive debate on this forum as well.

I love how Joack(off)man and Reaves can get 12 free crosschecks in on Glendening and how its open season for Slashing Datsyuk, yet Tatar got a  penalty for that weak-ass s***.

Cross checks are not a penalty. Hooks, holds, causing opposing players slight hesitations, gentle stick contact and gingivitis are penalties.
