#2620758 Lovable Dan Cleary update thread

Posted by Mckinley25 on 17 July 2015 - 08:24 AM

Wow. This guy just won't go away. I didn't even go to a game last season because of the Wings signing Cleary. Don't have a choice this season since it's the last season at the Joe.

Wait,..so you're saying you had the means and resources to go to games, but chose not to, because of Dan Cleary? Please tell me he's a jaded ex lover you don't want to run into because that's the only way that makes sense.

Should be 2020 if I'm right

Good, I'll probably be dead by then.

#2618671 Wings sign Brad Richards 1 yr, $3 million

Sure but I'm just assuming that blash would want to see these guys in training camp before he decides to start spouting off line combos. I guess I'm just used to Babcock saying stuff like I'll decide before the game what my lines are

I think though, that when a GM is building a team he has to have some idea where the players he's signing are slotted to play, otherwise it'd just be completely random assortment of players. If Blashill wants to juggle after the team hits the ice, that's his job then.

I'm fairly certain he knows the difference, forum posting (especially via phone) lends to simple errors.

#2615446 Sean Avery - Transition Season

The guy really is classless and the article is a total joke. "Whah, idk what I'm going to do when I can't play a game for money anymore!" Whatever, make smart choices and get your education. Anyone with a brain should know they aren't playing hockey into chelios and selanne years. So probably, maybe, go to school and figure out what you will do when you are replaced by someone younger and cheaper and enjoy the ride while it lasts. An athletes window is narrow depending on the sport and your skill at said sport. When you're done and shrugging your shoulders on what to do next, you have already failed. It's not like he wasn't already doing something else anyway. Walking around with his purses like the punk he is like when someone actually tried to fight him and he ducked and covered.

You said the article was a joke, then your advice was just a summary of the article, so you basically agree with him. Minus the incoherent ramblings at the end of your post.

#2614809 2015 SCF : Chicago Blackhawks vs. Tampa Bay Lightning

No, it is not. It would be very weird and flawed if you feel otherwise - like "give them all the Cup in rotation for participation, let them feel it! :w00t:

Well I don't want a rotation, I just want other teams to win naturally, I can certainly say that Chicago deserved to win the cup, and that's how it should be, I just wish teams like St. Louis and Washington had been able to put together championship teams for their fans.

This would be hilarious.
Why is everyone so averse to "hipsters"
And doesn't hating something because its a trend right now make you a hipster?

Because he put hipsters in quotations I read it as people with wax mustaches are not real hipsters. I guess they're wannabes.

I'm so confused by what's going on here.  This has got to be a prank of some sort, right?

I feel like people just run out of ideas to write about and this is the result.

Sooo...in your mind, only people who "play(ed) the game of hockey at a notable level" are to be taken seriously if they disagree with you or have their opinions valued? Give me a break.

That's why I have no opinions on the civil war.

#2611405 WCF : (3) Chicago Blackhawks vs. (1) Anaheim Ducks

Posted by Mckinley25 on 29 May 2015 - 01:11 PM

I'm rooting for Chicago.  They're more fun to watch, and I hate the idea of the Stanley Cup going back to California.  Seriously, think about that for a second.  It's not too dissimilar from the penguins at the San Diego zoo.  Just leave them where they belong.

I agree on the Penguins, but I just want the Cup wherever it's been the least recently. (Outside of Detroit obviously, it can be there every year.).

Ideally I'd like to see a cup final with two teams that have never won. Winning the cup is fun for a fan, I'd like to see fans get that experience that never have had it if the Wings can't win.

For me it just comes down to not wanting a team to have success that rivals the Wings stretch of success. Because it's sports, and it can be emotional, so Go Ducks! Then go rangers!

#2609708 Slava Fetisov: Giant Hypocrite.

Posted by Mckinley25 on 22 May 2015 - 01:06 PM

The obnoxious thing about it is that it won't make Russian professional hockey more viable. It won't do anything he's hoping it will do.  It will just make Russian hockey crappy because nobody who's playing it will give a damn.  And anybody who gives a damn will turn their efforts toward activities that aren't subject to repression.
How do I know?  Because it already happened with Russian sports.  And industry.  And art.  And everything else.  Forcing people to do something stifles motivation, creativity, passion, hard work, and effort.  It NEVER increases them.  Ask Slava, it's exactly how he felt in 1989.

Though with art and creativity, some of the best stuff was the result of oppression. Just take a look at the films from Eastern Europe that were banned in the 50's, 60's and 70's, the most brilliant art ever committed to celluloid. It's a terrible reason to oppress, obviously and I'm disappointed in Fetisov. It's going to be a monumental task to create a culture shift in Russia, the roots are so deep.

If you're going to ban guys from coming to the NHL, what are you going to do when they defect?  Or refuse to play for the national team?  Are you going to have travel bans?  Are you going to beat them?  Are you going to threaten their families?

If they could get away with it they would, that ideology is only a short stroll from the one Fetisov is supporting.
