Howard may have earned another shot with his performance against the Rangers. Besides, if he is going to be shopped over the summer they should play him while he's hot and increase his value. Though that's risky if he falls apart again.

Has anyone been here since the beginning?

Wait what's the difference between the fastest skater comp now and what it used to be?

Dylan Larkin exists.

Lest we forget disney.com 's 2 point night as well!
Super win....I'll have to say I've seen a player get waived and still play for the team the same day....I mean what if he got claimed mid way through the game? I guess you'd have to pull him off the ice in that situation...oh well!

My understanding is that teams put in their claim during the 24 hour period and at the end the team lowest in the standings that made a claim gets the player. So no matter what a decision wouldn't be made until tomorrow at noon.

I don't even think the Wings could score on Chippewa Street.  Sigh....

Note to self: Go to Chippewa Street.

It makes perfect sense lol. Fake an injury, fake medical documents, fake a medical procedure, get an entire team of doctors and medical professionals to all be in on it, all to save placing Joakim Andersson on waivers.

How he does that and still only work 3 days a year is beyond me.

To be a sniper, you have to score goals. You dont call a guy who scores 15 goals a year a sniper. Pulkkinen is an AHL sniper. Not NHL. When/if he breaks the 30 mark, we will talk about him. Frk? He hasnt even reached sniper status in the AHL.

Jesus H. Christ on a Popsicle stick this isn't about the skill level it's about handedness and propensity towards TYPE of skill. Pulkinen is most assuredly more skilled at sniping than stick handling just as Datsyuk is most assuredly more skilled at stick handling than sniping.

6 of the top 10 goal scorers are left handed. Theory debunked.

Teemu Pulkkinen, Mike Green, and Martin Frk have a combined 8 NHL goals this year. Larkin, Nyquist, and Tatar have 37. Theory debunked.

Sniper does not necessarily mean top goal scorer. Hull is a sniper, Pulk is a sniper, Kane and Datsyuk are stick handlers. At least if I understood KRSmith's meaning.

I was complaining today because I only had a tigers hat and no Wings gear to wear to the game tonight. So while I was working today my girlfriend made me a Wings hoodie. I rule so much at picking girlfriends.

She made you a hoodie? From scratch? Katie Strang has got skills.

Imo 3 on 3 is still better than shootouts which largely depends on whether or not you have good shooters. I'd rather them play actual hockey (be it 3 or 4 or 5 players each side on ice).
Haven't you guys ever played a pickup game with just 6 or 8 guys? It's still hockey. We all did it at some point.

Definitely, I think it's an improvement over the shootout, and certainly more entertaining as there's intensity. Sometimes I think overtime should first go to four on four, then end in a tie, but with no points awarded.

Since the shootouts nor the 3 on 3 overtimes seem to please everyone.
They should just go to 5 on 5 overtime periods sudden death until someone scores. Just like during the playoffs
That might please everyone.
The only risk is that over the course of 82 games and 15-20 hockey season , a player might actually die of a massive heart attack.

I don't think there's a realistic way to please everyone, so I'm ok with the 3 on 3 because it's at least fun, I'd just prefer ties.

#2639991 2016 NHL Outdoor Games Jerseys.

My only gripe is how the white is slanted. It feels like it is trying too hard to look modern. If it were level like the red band was on the winter classic jerseys, it would look much better.

The slant is terrible, diagonals are visually unsettling, it's a very poor design choice. The winter classic jerseys were perfect, horizontal is pleasing to the eye and the muted colors were a nice touch.

Bowman leaving to go to Chicago and winning 3 cups with a team that hadnt won since WW2 whilst Holland has missed on every good UFA, continually signs bad contracts, trades prospects for crappy rentals that dont help, and doesnt play or trade players at the right time (notice how we are the ONLY team in pro sports that over-ripens) as the Red Wings get bounced early every year isnt enough to make you change your opinion or at least scratch your head and rethink it??

Over ripening is the stupidest thing I've ever heard of. If you cant tell when your player is ripe, get a new job.

There is a correlation between being the only team that "over ripens" and the only team that has made the playoffs for 25 straight years.

You mention Chicago's success, but that was largely built around several bad seasons that allowed them to draft low and snag Kane and Toews.

Detroit could be back in contention if they tanked and had a few NHL ready picks out of the gate, but they've instead competed every year and developed (over ripened) prospects better than any other team.

Detroits biggest downfall, in my opinion, is that they haven't been able to acquire a franchise defenseman with their draft picks. That's easier said than done, but Subban and Weber were 2nd rounders I believe, I just wish we had found one in either Sproul or Oullete.

As far as free agents, there are a lot less of them, and only one team in 30 gets any individual player. The only big names Detroit missed out on (Parise and Suter) had Detroit at number 2, so Holland is at least the 2nd best GM in the league. Though it's not like the Wild have rocketed to elite status since that acquisition.
