Now I know it is too speculative to say just take away the extra point for winning in a shootout and call them all ties (since some of them wouldn't have been) because the shootout changes the way teams play in OT.

But I wanted to see what the standings would look like without it. Where if after OT its tied, both teams get 1 point, its a tie.

Atlanta would be in the playoffs, and everything would be different with seeding.

Also there would be less teams that were still in contention for the playoffs as well (especially in the west).

Detroit would be in 7th seed, not 8th, but would only be 1 point ahead of Calgary instead of 2.

I for one really hate the shootout, and this was something I did, just to see how it has changed things.

You will NOT find a backup as successful or good as Chris Osgood, for the price of Chris Osgood.

Thus, the back-up goalie next year will be Chris Osgood.

Considering it looks like Howie is our man from here out, as confused as many of you i still believe Howard will be started in the playoffs but that doesn't mean he`ll be keeping the role as starter in the playoffs because we all know how intense it gets. But at the end of the playoffs when everything is done and dry, do we keep Ozzie as a backup ? please ignore my spelling\grammer errors as i never was the greatest Just looking for opinions..

Nope. Ozzie is essentially Mike Vernon now. What he is doing for Howard is a big part of Howard's success mentally.

I think that reputation thing is just for each post.  Or so it seems.  I'll have to mess around with it for a while.  Prepare for skewed results.

I believe you individually give a single post a reputation, and the reputation of all your posts are added together.

Also I'm not sure what to think about the new "Reputation" feature.  It will point out anytime when a clear majority of people disagree with something but just because an opinion isn't popular doesn't mean it's wrong.  I guess I look forward to seeing users abuse that stat in the near future.  "My reputation points speak for themselves and bla bla bla..."

I agree with this. I have negative reputation already because I had issues with some players in the first period. I was not rude, and backed my ideas up with examples, yet have a negative reputation because my idea was unpopular in the GDT.

I am not a big fan of the reputation points...

Their goalie is making saves, ours isn't.

I don't think Chicago necessarily played all that much better than the Wings.

We had a more consistent attack (but nobody on this team can finish).

We did have some pretty bad turnovers, but Chicago did as well.

The difference to me has been Howard's terrible rebounds.

The first goal was 100% a result of his inability to direct rebounds into the corner, it went right back into play (like it always does) and they capitalized.

Can't blame him on the second goal.

But there have been plenty of times in the first where Chicago gets more of an opportunity to do something because the first shot is kicked right back into the slot by Howard.

He has played well this season, but rebound control is horrible by him, and most of his bad games are where teams capitalize on that.

Lets try to stay on Vladdy here guys:

I am just glad to see he remembers his old friends and that he is on the walker and out of the chair.

I cannot judge the divorce at all. I feel bad for Vladdy because it must be hard on him, but I don't know what went down, and I can't dislike his wife for it at all. She stood by him for so long, we don't know what happened. I just hope to see Vladdy keep getting better, and I hope he stays a big part of our organization as a motivation and a reminder that their are in fact bigger things than hockey.

I remember how sad I was the day of the accident, I just didn't believe it. Glad to see Vladdy is a bit better.

It is sad that only Vladdy gets any recognition still form it. Mnatstakov wasn't a player, and was only the team masseuse but his story is equally tragic, and I would hope he gets similar support as Vladdy as well.
