#2254090 What the F has gotten into these wings?

Posted by Donaldjr2448 on 08 February 2012 - 10:36 PM

I personally think when the Wings drop the gloves it opens up the ice for guys like Z, Dats, Mule, and Flipper. It just seems that theys guys do not take hits as much when the boys drop the mits, or maybe like other have stated the team picks up its play when the boys drop the mits. And the fact that Kindl gets the nod over Commie flat out pisses me off, but whatever.

FREE COMMIE!!!

#2252124 Ramage hit on Oliver

Posted by Donaldjr2448 on 04 February 2012 - 09:21 PM

Here is the biggest issue with the hit. The hit is clean as clean can be, but every DAMN time a player gets hit he or team of the player that gets hit decides they need to fight the hitter. This is whats wrong; fights after clean hits. I am so sick of these meaningless fights after good clean hits. As far as I'm concerned, the scrums after clean hits need to be penalized in either 5 minute delay of games or 5 and 10. Keep your head up and hits like this will not happen. Or how about getting the hitter back later on with yet another clean check.

I don't know about anyone else, but nothing frustrates more than these scrums, just like our buddy Kesler wanting to fight Kronner after a good clean hit. :ranting:

#2250681 SI: Sidney Crosby to visit spine specialist in Calif.

Posted by Donaldjr2448 on 30 January 2012 - 10:15 AM

A word about the doctor's missing something. Does anyone think that possibly its the Pittsburgh organization pressuring the doctors at all to get Crosby back on the ice??? Lets face it the Pens organization is paying these doctors and I could see this organization pulling somethingh like that. I'm certain that this is not the only time this has happened in sports with a star player and a team. Just doesn't seem like a team of doctors would simply let a injured player go back on the ice knowing what they knew. Like someone else stated, these doctors would lose their license if they allowed an injured player to continue on the ice or anyone for that matter. Call me a skeptic I guess.

#2250543 The SuperSkills competition is an embarrassment

Posted by Donaldjr2448 on 29 January 2012 - 09:36 AM

I didn't watch it at all. I simply cannot get into the All Star stuff! I wish the league would simply say these are the all stars this year and wrap that up at the end of the season. There is no reason for an all star break and all this silly hoopla. I'm certain the ratings will be down on the Skills Competition as well as the game itself.

I consider myself a huge hockey fan, and eventhough I am in the Detroit area I subscribe to Center Ice to watch as many games as possible, but I usually skip out on the all star stuff. It simply doesn't interest me or the average hockey fan. Sorry to be a hater. :)

#2245910 Detroit player on NHL 36?

I would venture to guess Jimmy Howard. First time All Star, American Born player ect...

#2245192 Next Captain?

Posted by Donaldjr2448 on 13 January 2012 - 09:55 AM

I was just thinking about this the other day, and I thought that perhaps a guy like Abdelkader or even a Helm could take this role. I can see these two being the fire that the lockeroom could use. I do not see Z getting the C, but I could see Dats getting it, his broken english would be great during interviews.

By the way, where did the Z trade rumors come from???? Please tell me its not Ecklund (or whatever his clown ass name is). I would be down with Z and Huds to Calgary for Iggy!! Do it now!! Then Iggy could be our next Captain.

#2245188 Congratulations to Jimmy Howard

Posted by Donaldjr2448 on 13 January 2012 - 09:36 AM

Way to go Jimmy!

This is a guy 2 years ago that I did not think could cut it at the NHL level. Where Jimmy was last year at this time compared to now no less is amazing. His playoff performance has carried over to this year and has been the reason the Wings have won many of those 27 games this season.

Hopefully Jimmy can get 301 more to pass Mr. Osgood and then some more!! Congrats Jimmy not only on win #100, but the All Star selection as well. If there is anyone that deserves that honor, its Mr. Jimmy Howard.

Very Sad news! Thoughts are with you and your family Ken. Ken is by far the best NHL play by play man in the league!

#2230750 Acquiring a top six forward

Posted by Donaldjr2448 on 28 November 2011 - 11:52 PM

Iggy is signed through next season @ $7 million. I like him, but not that much.

Pending FA forwards who could potentially be available and may be considered top-6:

Ruutu, Tuomo -------CAR 28 $3,800,000 UFA
Jokinen, Olli ------CGY 32 $3,000,000 UFA
Stempniak, Lee -----CGY 28 $1,900,000 UFA
Comeau, Blake ------CGY 25 $2,500,000 RFA
Prospal, Vaclav ----CLB 36 $2,500,000 UFA
Hejduk, Milan ------COL 35 $3,000,000 UFA
Jones, David -------COL 27 $2,500,000 UFA
Samuelsson, Mikael -FLA 34 $2,500,000 UFA
Versteeg, Kris -----FLA 25 $3,083,333 RFA
Penner, Dustin -----LAK 29 $4,250,000 UFA
Parise, Zach -------NJD 27 $6,000,000 UFA
Whitney, Ray -------PHO 39 $3,000,000 UFA
Doan, Shane --------PHO 35 $4,550,000 UFA
Grabovski, Mikhail -TOR 27 $2,900,000 UFA
Kulemin, Nikolai ---TOR 25 $2,350,000 RFA
Semin, Alexander ---WAS 27 $6,700,000 UFA

I may have missed a few, and there may be some who aren't going to be FAs who may be worth looking at, but it's not very impressive. Parise, Semin, and Doan probably the most likely to have a real impact. Don't know that I'd want to trade for any of the rest of them, unless it was cheap. (For that matter I wouldn't give up much for Semin or Doan either.)

This is a no brainer, bring Sammy back!

#2227059 Babcock: "Do we want to be a good team or not?"

Posted by Donaldjr2448 on 18 November 2011 - 09:02 AM

I agree with all the posts above! The team is stale and it just seems were missing something out there, and NO its not Bert ot White. Just all season it seems like the team is flat and lazy at times. I think it may be time to scratch top players. Make them set in the press box and watch the action, the performances by Hank and Pavel have been HORRIBLE! If they are not going to perform, send the home and recall Tatar and Nyquist who will bring it!

The only player on this team that has shown up every single night that he has played is Jimmy Howard, he has bailed this team out waaaayyyy too much this year and he deserves a better effort in front of him. If I were to give grades right now to all the players everyone and I mean everyone would have D's that includes Lidstrom. Howie is the only A on the team right now! Lids has constantly been getting beat on odd man rushes and last night on the 3 on 1 was the only D man back and didn't even bother to take the pass away!

I'm with Babs on this one, we have to decide what type of team we want to be, because right now we look like a team that will be golfing in the second week of April.

#2222679 F*** YOU Player X

Posted by Donaldjr2448 on 04 November 2011 - 08:47 AM

Everybody just needs to calm down!! The Wings are simply getting their March/April losing streaks out of the way in October/November! We are going to go on a monster streak and all will be well soon.

I personally do not think the team has played that bad the last 3 games, simply we have not gotten breaks that we normally get! If the guys keep working at it, everything will be fine!

Just so you all know, the last time the Wings were winless in 6, we won the Stanley Cup (2008) Just sayin!!

The NHL is broken down into 10 game segments! The first ten we were 5-4-1 (11 points of a possible 20) thats a .550 win percentage (not bad, not great either)

we are now 0-1 in the next ten game segment, all will be well the next time we play Calgary which will be the 10th game in this 10 game segment! Remember the season is a sprint, not a race!!

CHILL THE F%^k OUT FOLKS!!

#2205879 Red Wings Sponsor?

Posted by Donaldjr2448 on 01 September 2011 - 03:45 PM

I actually bought into Amway a couple of years ago. What a complete line of Bulls*** this company is! They basically make their money off their Independent Business Owners (Me) because you have to purchase your own items from Amway or your not following the scheme! I wish I could meet the Son of a ***** that got me into Amway in a Dark Alley! I'd Probably Tie Domi his pencil neck geek ass! Oh well, lesson learned.

#2202129 Weber Arbitration hearing...

Posted by Donaldjr2448 on 02 August 2011 - 11:17 PM

This just shows that everything I have said about the Nashville Predators is true! A JOKE Organization!! You are not going to come to terms with your franchise player????? WTF!! This would be like the Wings saying see ya to Zetterberg or Datsyuk!! And yet, people still follow the Preds, but then again the people down there in TN are not the sharpest pencils in the box either!

#2199614 Thank You Chris Osgood!

Posted by Donaldjr2448 on 19 July 2011 - 08:03 PM

I actually remember that game on UPN 50 that RedWings TV showed in Ozzie debut. We were in need of a young goalie at the time, and Chevy was for the most part on his way out as our Goaltender and Reindeau was a joke in the first place, so in comes this "baby face goalie" and 20+ years later Ozzie is hanging them up.

As I sit here in my office typing this, I look around at all the Stanley Cup Championship newspapers and autographs that I have and none and I mean NONE of this would have been possible without this guy in net. Sure, Vernie won 1997, and Dom in 2002 but whenever the Wings needed a win, Ozzie always steped up to the plate. I gave this guy soooo much s*** throughout his career and he always made me eat crow.

I sure hope that Ozzie realizes how much the fans of the Detroit RedWings love him and I will miss him not being in net, but I will never forget the memories this "baby faced" goalie gave me as a Wings fan.

If Ozzie is not in the Hall of Fame soon, than the NHL has failed. Thanks again Ozzie! You deserve it!!

#2198006 Bettman aiming to overhaul cap?

Posted by Donaldjr2448 on 11 July 2011 - 10:55 PM

The cap and floor only separated by $4-$6 Million? May as well just put all the team names in a hat, shake them up, and pick one every year to decided your champion. It'll save us a bunch of time and aggravation.

It's the floor that's the problem and Bettman's southern teams, do something about that! Give power back to the big markets and stop letting the south drag you down!

I cannot agree more! But hey, the South has been dragging this nation down for Hundreds of years, why change now!!
