#2084420 How do you think the Wings will do without Dats?

Posted by Donaldjr2448 on 25 December 2010 - 09:56 AM

I understand that Dats is the superstar of the Wings, and he does just about everything for the team! But...... if we are going to sit here and throw the season away because the loss of one player, then we had no chance to begin with. I personally think this injury is good for the Wings! ADVERSITY! Right now we have too many players out there simply skating around and doing nothing, I don't think I have to mention any names. I think this may be a step up or step aside thing now. I expect to see Mule, Z, Flipper to step up huge, my dark horse is Bert and Eaves.

I fully expect this team to pick it up after Christmas, no one is going to feel sorry for us. These guys need to hit the ice with a chip on their shoulders and pick it up, that includes both Goalies, these soft ass goals need to stop (yes, pun inteneded).

Time to pick up the play and most importantly, PLAY REDWING HOCKEY DAMMIT!!!!

#2080949 I got to see the Cup Yesterday

Posted by Donaldjr2448 on 18 December 2010 - 03:14 PM

Ok, I know all of you are pissed at me, but I got to spend 2 hours with the Cup yesterday. At about 130 yesterday afternoon I got a phone call from my stepdad that the cup was going to be in Davison at 230. I then hauled ass to the dealershio in Davison and then got to spend nearly 2 hours with the cup.

The entire experience was amazing. I got to hang with the Cup Keeper and talk about Hockey history and what not. The rest of the time I was standing next to the Cup reading it and simply taking it all in. I really wish everyone could experience this.

The Cup was at Hank Graff Chevrolet yesterday between 2 and 4 for toys for tots, of course you had to donate money or toys, but it was a great event and alot of money and toys were donated.

Hope you all enjoy the pic (I'm on the left) and I hope you all will not be mad at me for too long!

#2057868 Get ready folks, hitting is about to exit our game

Posted by Donaldjr2448 on 05 November 2010 - 08:26 AM

When I watched the Game live, I thought Thornton left his feet to make the hit, but after Jolly has posted these angle shots, I see that Big Joe simply was trying to get out of the way! Perron had his head down and never saw it coming! I guess the hits to the head are gonna be like the high sticking, eventhough you didn't mean to hit the head you still will receive the penalty for it!

I'm curious to see if Perron was embellishing the hit like Downie's hit in the LA game? Thats what I mean by guys tumbling to the ice and rolling around like they were hit by the zamboni! I think if a player embellishes the hit, they should receive an unsportsmen call!

Right after the Thornton hit Perron, David Backes was hit by Dany Heatly next to the boards. Heatly let up on the play as he was coming into contact with Backes, but Backes dove into the boards and of course fell to the ice like a sack of potatoes! Heats then was assessed a 2 minute boarding penalty! This is exactly what I'm concerned about is these guys embellishing these hits because they know the refs are looking for them, so they fake injury!

I wish the NHL would notice the guys faking injury are the ones ruining the game, not hits like Thornton, Doughty, and Heats!

I don't know that Joey will play in Edmonton because those kids in Edmonton are good, this is not the same Oilers team from the last couple of years! These kids can put the puck in the net! I would bet Joey plays in Vancouver, because we all know Looooooooouuuu will give up goals from the blue line all night long!!

And Honestly these negative comments about Ozzie need to stop, sure he is in a bit of a bind now, but he has ALWAYS pulled through ( no pun on the pulled part). Ozzie is a professional with 3 rings and being a backup in the NHL is one of the hardest jobs in the world. Is Ozzie as good as he was 2 years ago, No! But I would take him as a backup any day with his resume!!

#2052836 Brown Gets ejected for clean hit

Posted by Donaldjr2448 on 26 October 2010 - 10:35 AM

I don't know! This league is going to crap with all of these new rules. I am with Mickey Redmond on just about every call, for the Wings or against! The NHL has watered this game down so much, that it has really taken the excitement from the game!

There is no way that this was a dirty hit! NO WAY!!Contact was made with the shoulder and the hit was made on the shoulder. Just because the head snaps back does not mean that there was an intent to hit the head! What garbage! I understand that there will be bad calls until the refs understand what they are looking for, but we do have instant replay, so check it out first before throwing a guy out of the game.

I say that because I am afraid that guys that are on the receiving end of these hits will start to throw their heads back to draw attention to that just to draw a penalty! Or.... they will lay on the ice and fake an injury just to draw attention! Those are the clowns that need to be suspended!

#2044823 Kirk Maltby to announce he is retiring

Posted by Donaldjr2448 on 12 October 2010 - 02:36 PM

When I read some of the posts in this thread, I am just appalled. Here is a guy that gave his heart and soul to the organization. He was a penalty killer and a grind liner. You don't win four Stanley Cups by accident. Detroit knew what they had here and they treated him well for many years. In return, he gave everything he had to the organization.

Yet, some of the fans on this forum piss on him and other players. Even Lidstrom is a target by some people, which is disgusting being as that we are all fans of the Red Wings here. This isn't the HFboards where there are asshats a plenty out there that like to start flame wars with other teams and fans.

I expect people here will be supportive of their Red Wings and the management. After all, they deserve to have our support being as that they haven't missed the playoffs in 25 of the last 27 seasons and the last 19 in a row. The players have shown that they care about playing in Detroit by giving it their all season after season after season.

Here is Maltby, a player who has given it their all for years. 75% of the posts here have the right attitude, which is supportive and remembering what Maltby brought to the table. The rest of the posters here are true morons. If not for the fact that they don't remember what Maltby did for the organization, but because he is a Red Wing. He will take a job in the front office because the Red Wings care about their players and the players care about playing here. I don't see this kind of commitment from many organizations out there.

Support your Red Wings guys. They are your team. If you don't like the team, go bandwagon on the Sharks and Hawks. I heard they need more fans on the bandwagon these days.

Happy retirement Maltby! You will be missed.

Thanks Nightfall. I was around when the Wings weren't making the playoffs every year and I remember when we made the playoffs in 1988. I just remember how excited I was ( I was only 9), I thought then that this team was going to do something special, then followed up the next year with 19 wins and didn't even sniff the playoffs and I wondered what was next. We all now what happened, but I always kept the faith in this team. I think may people on this board were not around during the DeadWings era, because if they were, we would not see these crazy comments about players like Malts and Drapes and yes, Even Lidstrom (which just baffles me)!

I will always remember Maltby in the playoffs, right when we needed a big goal, everyone would pick Stevie, Shanny, Kozlov, Feds, ect and who ended up with a goal..... Kirk Maltby! As far as I'm concerned, Malts was one of the best faces of the organization that there ever was. Will the #18 go to the rafters, probably not, but he will always be at the top of the lists of players with the biggest heart and dedication. We'll miss you Malts!! GO WINGS!!

#2042879 I hate the Ducks

Posted by Donaldjr2448 on 09 October 2010 - 02:08 AM

Hey!! Don't forget about Jimmy Howard giving Ferry the old blocker and glove wash as well. I'm beginning to really like Howie. As for Dats fighting, I never want to see that again, if he would have been injured in that, I would have been pissed! The crowd was epic during and after the fight, I simply cannot believe Datsyuk now has a Gordie Howe hat trick! Insane!! GO WINGS!!

#2041890 10/8 GDT: Ducks 0 at Red Wings 4

Posted by Donaldjr2448 on 08 October 2010 - 08:46 AM

Yeah!!! Its finally a GDT now that the Cus has posted the stats. GAME ON

<3 Cusimano, he doesn't get the appreciation he deserves for keeping us updated on a lot of things

I cannot agree more with ya! I wonder if Cus is the guy that gives the stats to Babcock before the games and during the intermissions? <_< In any event, I love his posts, and I always look forward to them, it's funny,I like the stat about what our record is on a certain day, it always seems to be spot on. Its amazing to be able to almost predict the outcome based on that stat alone!

#2033598 Draper's face after The Turtle boarded him

Posted by Donaldjr2448 on 15 September 2010 - 10:14 PM

I love what Ciccarelli said after that game when Draper got hit from behind. That is one of the quotes I will never ever forget, however that was Dino's last game as a Wing! I really wish he would have been on the 97 team, I always liked him and he was a fan fav!!

#2011053 Kovalchuk may be staying in NJ

Posted by Donaldjr2448 on 06 July 2010 - 10:31 AM

Looks like Kovie will stay in New Jersey, according to TSN. Kovie has signed a 7year 60million dollar deal that will keep him in a Devils Uniform for a very long time. Not sur eif this make Jersey better or what.

Posted by Donaldjr2448 on 06 July 2010 - 10:15 AM

Like I said earlier, if we have to give up young talent for Modano then I say no thanks. I'm tired of out young guys going to other teams and becoming stars. We really need to keep these young guys otherwise we will be drafting 1st and 2nd overall very very soon! I don't like us gambling our future with guys like Modano!

I'll take this one from Pedro Martinez, " At least they know who their Daddy is". I'll leave it at that!
