#2603314 ECQF Game 7 GDT : at Lightning 2, Red Wings 0 (Tampa wins series, 4-3)

Posted by Jersey Wing on 29 April 2015 - 11:34 AM

Perfect. The defense is depleted terribly and Tampa has game 7 at home. So the Wings are underdogs much like they were at the beginning of the series, big underdogs. Yet they have managed to win 3 games. Tonight is house money. Nothing to lose. Like one of those series between Edmonton and Dallas all those years ago. Stay fast, play hard, run 'em over if you have to.

With the way things are set up I can promise you Tampa are all thinking about winning. That's why the Wings to a man have to think about hockey.

I have absolutely no problem with any of it.  Restricting ticket sales to local area is nothing new and it makes total sense.  If you can sell all your tickets to locals, more power to you, why would you want it open to anyone.

In terms of the logo issue, it's not like they are banning other logos from the building, only an exclusive club within the building....again, that just makes sense and if you don't like it, it really is the proprietor's decision, there would be no grounds to call discrimination, etc.  In fact, I'm pretty sure a corner store owner can choose not to sell to someone for any reason they want (not that this is the same scenario)

I'm all for them restricting ticket sales. Any good organization would do this to try and create more of a home environment and I don't blame them. If the shoe was on the other foot, and say the Wings were playing Toronto after a few down years and the popularity wasn't what it is today, we'd want to restrict sales to Ontario residents.

What bothers me is the banning of opposing logos and colors from areas. If you paid to get in, you shouldn't be treated any different as a guest because of what you're wearing. You're already in the building...

None of this is going to stop Wings fans from going anyways because of so many secondhand ticket sites. It's just giving us something to talk about.

That's a bad call... but it is not as bad as I thought

#2486407 Official 2014 Olympic Hockey Thread (Admin warning #316)

Could care less if NHL players don't play in the Olympics again.

Unless the games are in North America, you can't watch any of them live without quitting your job.  And the primetime evening coverage doesn't show re-runs of hockey.  They only had one channel showing the evening coverage when most people have returned from their workdays.

One the bright side, I got to see plenty of figure skating and women in khaki pants doing stupid stunts on a snowboard.  :sleepy:

Channels? you have heard of the internet right?  :P

#2474244 1/18 GDT: Kings 2 @ Red Wings 3 (Shootout)

Posted by DatsyukianDekes on 18 January 2014 - 11:05 PM

The more I think about it, the more perfect this win is.

- Richards being the big tough guy, scoring a goal and trying to start something with our goalie...and then being the final shooter in the shootout.

- Kronner's redemption. That penalty was total bulls***. Only right that he should get the equalizer a few seconds later, and on the PP. (We scored a PP goal!)

- Tats getting to salute his father against the Kings a second time, this time at home.

- Our refusal to take any s*** from one of the bigger, better teams in the league.

- Howard getting right up in Quick's grill, telling him he wants the starting job in Sochi.

- Scoring three goals! We scored three goals! (Sort of!)

#2432013 Pierre McGuire's past that NBC doesn't want you to know about

He's not respected by the players, even today. I think that says it all.

He is more respected than you think.

Uh...OK.  That statements not hypocritical at all, lol.  Who here would even care if he had a drug problem in his past.  I'd probably rather someone who used to have a drug problem than someone who used to be (and may still be)  a complete nut and threw temper tantrums all the time.

Only hypocritical if you actually believe it.  I am just saying that I would at least understand if people hated Mcguire if he did those things.  Personally, I don't give a crap.  Its easy to judge people and I don't spend time doing that.

SI posted this linkthis morning. Apparently someone dug this up, and its making the rounds online. I know this was quite a while ago....but I'm shocked that Pierre is still in hockey after things like this. I guess NBC didn't take the time to vet him, or they just didn't care. Apologies to anyone who already knew this, but this has some gems that I couldn't pass up:

You could probably post this same info on many coaches.  For some reason, Patrick Roy comes to mind.

I'm not saying I love the guy (Milbury), but hitting a fan with a shoe is totally awesome... even awesomer if the 'victim' was getting beat with his own shoe.

A professional athlete losing his temper like an infant and entering the stands to fight spectators is not "totally awesome." I believe the term you're looking for is, instead, "completely inexcusable."

The Chicago Stronger thing wasn't even original. A Toronto fan held a sign at the Maple Leafs game during the game that said "Toronto Stronger". I didn't think it was all that big of a deal.
