#2437407 NHL enforcing uniform rule from 1964

I predict this will ultimately result in the creation of an entirely new sort of pest/agitator: the tucker. His sole purpose: to tuck the opposition's jerseys, twice. Or several times. Or dozens of times.

#2216026 Veterans Players Choosing to Wear visors/ Younger Players Going Withou

You probably enjoy speeding while drunk regardless of wearing a seatbelt or not, i mean, you are a grown ass man after all. People, whether in sports or in the community, don't always know what's best for them. Sure they are grown ass men, but not every grown ass man understands risks. It's not always a bad thing to have rules and regulations.

A. Half shield isnt gunna save ur life most likely B.speeding and drunk driving put other people in danger, not waering a visor does not C.too many rules and regulations if you ask me.

Can someone help me understand why we should care about marketing? I could understand if I was an employee with a Company that isn't doing as well as they should and it was attributed to poor marketing, jobs on the line, etc. But, why the hell should I care about NHL marketing?

I could be wrong but aren't Bettman and Stern (NBA's comish) really good friends, that would be a pretty classless move.

Well, the NBA is a classless league, so it's all good.

#2213822 Report: Pre-season Fighting Lowest in More Than a Decade

Posted by Hockey Convert on 09 October 2011 - 07:23 PM

Probie was drinking 12 beers a night by 17, and thats before he took much head trauma from fighting... So how did fighting cause that?

Fighting in hockey causes tooth decay, male pattern baldness, global warming, and communism. True story.

Oh, also, on LGW correlation always equals causation. Where there's smoke, there's fire, and certainly not a couple anti-fire posters holding a smoke machine!

Enforcers seems to have an affinity for these lifestyles more than other hockey players.

There's no causation in that argument. IMO it is more believable that people with those tendencies are more likely to fight, instead of fighting leading to those tendencies.

the more fights the better.

Not to me, I'd rather not see players die young and would rather see the game of hockey played with skill and toughness that is tied to the actual game and not just punches.

To be fair the travel factor is also a benefit at home ice for team's coming from the west to Detroit.

Yeah that's true. But I'm more or less talking about combined travel. I'm willing to bet that the Wings travel more during the playoffs than Vancouver will (disregarding this year of course because they played two central teams) or San Jose or Anaheim will. It's like if the Wings get past their Pacific division foe there is another Pacific division or Northwest division team waiting for them.

Take this year for example: Phoenix---->San Jose--->and then would have been Vancouver

That kind of travel just doesn't seem fair.......

#2210983 NHL will Look into Fighting: Shanahan

Posted by GMRwings1983 on 30 September 2011 - 02:57 PM

If the NHL gets serious about suspensions, which they FINALLY are, they don't need fighting anymore.

I'm ok with fighting being banned. If I wanted to watch fighting, I'd watch the UFC.

If I wanted to watch figure skating, I'd watch the Olympics.

If I wanted to watch grown men cheapshot each other without any physical retaliation or standing up for one's teammates, I'd watch football.

If fighting is banned I and im sure others will never watch another NHL game in my life, not because the game isnt interesting and entertaining still, but because I love the sport of hockey, the way it has been for over 100 years, and I will do it as sort of a boycott. This is the game ive bled, cried, and sat in hospital beds for, and I wouldnt change it for anything. People often question my take on hockey because I want it rough and tough like it should be, but it should be known my brother broke his neck playing hockey, and he nor i would change it for the world.

#2206429 Red Wings Sponsor?

Posted by Uncle Danny on 06 September 2011 - 05:18 PM

Back OT, I'm probably in the severe minority here when I say that I don't much care about the sponsorship. This is a business, and one business has decided to give another a lot of money in trade for exposure. I happen to agree with most that the choice of partners was ill conceived, and Amway is a bloodsucking scam... but I'm a discerning customer and can choose to ignore their advances and name drops as well as the next guy. I am disappointed that the red and white powers that be didn't decide on a more reputable partner, but cest la vie. Amway doesn't play hockey. Dasyuk, Lidstrom and Hank do. See you all in the regular season ;)

I know multiple people that do Amway. Some have made a ton of money, some havent. I also know people that have gone through info meetings, such as myself.

Lets make one thing clear - your friends and her family are nut jobs. NOT the company. The company didn't yell at her for not wearing a dress. (I know there is no company rule about this, it was probably a personal rule laid out by the crazy family).

I would LOVE to see how you are so uniquely smart that you of all people were able to mathematically solve how this multi-billion dollar company has actually made no money for people. Because apparently, they were able to dupe EVERYONE ELSE in this world to help generate billions and billions of dollars. Have you submitted your mathematical equation to the newspapers? You too could be rich!

As I've said, I've been to the meetings multiple times and I agree - they aren't for me. But to say Amway is crooked because some INDEPENDENT proprietors do their job a little more high pressure than others makes you equally as nutty.

Sales is high pressure. I don't care if you're selling Amway, Cutco knives, cars, electronics or magazine subscriptions. In order to survive, you can't just walk away every time you hear the word no. Sorry if you're too weak to stick to your guns just because someone is persistent. Again, that's just sales. It isn't illegal nor should it be. We all have choices to make.

Thank you, at least one person in this thread understands the concept of personal responsibility. I can't believe people are actually ignorant enough to neg your posts. The good thing about capitalism is that it has lifted countless millions out of poverty, the bad thing about capitalism is that if you make uninformed decisions you lose your money. But don't blame the person who made the uninformed decision, he/she is a victim of the system and doomed to poverty by pure bad luck/scheming by evil rich people .

On topic, I hate the fact that we have a corporate sponsor, but that has nothing to with it being Amway, I just don't want to see our sweaters start to look like the hood of a NASCAR car.

#2206180 Red Wings Sponsor?

The problem is martyr, it's not Red Wings sponsored by the Devos family. It is Amway; a crooked company that has came under scrutiny by our government and has broken peoples lives based on false promises and ripping people off in cult like fashion.

The Devos family does great things for the state of Michigan but the Amway company does not deserve to be our sponsor plain and simple.

Martyr...You seem to honestly beleive in Amway an support it 100%. Your choice, obviously.

BUT, that fact that you are literally the only person on this entire thread that feels that way has to tell you something. Every single person that has posted about this topic here is 100% against Amway sponsoring the Wings, and as pointed out multiple times, it has absolutely nothing to do with the Wings having corporate sponsership, but the fact that they chose Amway.

Amway is a scam pyramid sceme. That is an undisputed FACT. They are predatory scumbags. FACT.

The fact that they are now aligned with the most respected team in the NHL, if not one of the most respected teams in all professional sports, quite literally disgusts most of us to our very core. This is like making a deal with the devil...quite literally.

My Escobar analogy earlier in the thread that you hated and took offense to so much was 100% accurate, regardless of how you personally feel about it.

Its a deal with the devil. And the fact the the Wings are not even close to being in financial trouble makes it all the worse. This is Tom, money hungry scumbag f***, Wilsons baby. Almost all Detroit Red Wings fans absolutely HATE him for making this deal.
