#2618407 Wings sign Brad Richards 1 yr, $3 million

Posted by Copenhagen848 on 01 July 2015 - 04:42 PM

It's laughable at how people complain about Holland doing nothing in years past, and now he goes out a makes some deals today, and some people still complain.

Holland signed one of the biggest d-man F/A's today, then picks up an UPGRADE over Weiss, for only one year, and people still aren't happy.

I'm 100% happy with what Holland did today.  Well done, sir!

It appears there are a bunch of guys not getting the offers they expected.

Good! Maybe it will help get some of the ridiculous contracts of the past back under control....

Another vote for "neither".

#2533974 Greatest Wings game ever

Posted by Copenhagen848 on 10 August 2014 - 02:32 PM

March 26, 1997.  The most exciting sporting event I've ever watched.  I can't imagine a game ever topping that one for me.  My wife got me the "Sweet Revenge" poster framed and signed by McCarty for me as a wedding present.

#2529852 Article on FAs and Red Wings

Last year I was very excited about being able to watch the Wings on HBO's 24/7.  I was looking forward to seeing who the goofy guys were, the serious guys, etc, etc.  I was extremely disappointed to see just how BORING today's Red Wings are.  I didn't see any personality from the team...with the exception of a couple.

You just don't see things like Yzerman giving his teammate a kiss on the "Kisscam" or Shanny motioning to the lady about hairy armpits while he's in the box, or Ozzie talking about how ripped he is in the pre-game.  I enjoyed watching the Maple Leafs on 24/7 much more than the Wings...their guys had personality and it was entertaining.

The Red Wings of today are boring, and I have to believe that plays a factor in F/A decision as well.

I enjoyed the "Are you the bottle police" comment by Bert at the end of part two of their water bottle argument :)

The Maple Leafs and the Canucks and probably Sharks all come to mind before NYR in terms of expectations and actual achievement.

I was also going to say the Sharks.  They've had the talent and chances, just missing one element.  I personally believe the missing element is "non-douchebaggery"....

#2304430 Which Players Would You Choose

Posted by Copenhagen848 on 31 May 2012 - 07:34 PM

I'd love to see Doan on the Wings. It's time to sign a player who can play some hard-nosed hockey and can be a dick at times (when needed).

#2273089 Which team would piss you off the most if they won the cup?

Posted by Copenhagen848 on 23 March 2012 - 07:19 AM

In order: Pittsburgh, San Jose, Chicago, Vancouver. Other than those teams, I don't care who wins it other than the Wings.

I'd like to see New York take it if the Wings can't.

#2180980 Brad Stuart

I remember a significantly noticeable difference when he was out for a while with his busted jaw. Stuart is one of the most consistent and dependable Wings. I hope he's a lifer, he's one of my favs on the tram.

Regardless who wins tonight, what a great game to watch!

pretty nice but that is so popular now most squirts can pull it off

Most squirts??? I highly doubt it.

#2129251 3/11 GDT: Oilers 1 at Red Wings 2 (OT)

Anyone else just see Eric Zane from Free Beer and Hot Wings in the Griffins jersey behind the Oilers net?

#2126852 Wings Playoff/Cup chances?

Posted by Copenhagen848 on 06 March 2011 - 07:48 PM

I know you're angry that the Wings haven't been so dominant as to erase from your mind any possibility that you may end up disappointed, but maybe you'll at least look into the past for data.

I can't comment on this, because I have absolutely no idea what this is supposed to mean. I think you were trying to say something intelligent in a smart-ass sort of way?

Please don't bother responding.

#2126822 Wings Playoff/Cup chances?

Posted by Copenhagen848 on 06 March 2011 - 05:01 PM

Is anyone else tired of reading "things will be different in the playoffs", etc? I know I sure am.

These games do matter, regardless of all the people that say they don't. There is absolutely no excuse for the loss last night. When I left for work, they were up 4-1. I got to work and turned on the tube and saw it was a shootout! I couldn't believe what I was seeing! Then I saw the highlights of how the game got tied up.....well, I'll keep my thoughts on that to myself. After the 3rd period meltdown against the Kings, I figured that would have been enough of a wake up call to make sure that didn't happen again. Boy was I wrong.

I can see one or two meltdowns a season...every team has them over the course of 82 games. However, this Wings team is flopping like that way too much to not be very concerned. Instead of finishing off an easy win against a conference and playoff foe, they chocked hard and let the Coyotes accumulate 2 more points to their playoff position. Every game against a Western Conference playoff contender is very important, especially this time of year.

I can't for the life of me understand how a team as talented as the Wings can be so great one night, then suck so horrible the next. There is absolutely no dispute that the Wings may be one of, if not the most talented team in the league right now. Obviously there is something going on, aside from coaching like everyone seems to blame, in which the Wings are lacking severely this year. Call it drive, chemistry, heart, whatever. Whatever it is, it's not present right now. And if the Wings have any desire to be a Cup contender (which is certainly debatable from their play this season), they better sit down and reevaluate some things or this is going to be a VERY short playoff run.

That game last night was beer league horse s*** if I've ever seen it. I love the Wings and want them to do well as bad as everyone else, but that game last night left me the most disgusted I've been regarding a Wings game is a very long time.

I'm going to end my disgusted rant with a quote from Babcock regarding last night. I think it sums it up quite perfectly:

"There gets to be a point in your season where you've got to decide if you think you're a championship-caliber team. There is a right way to play, and unless you get 23 guys doing it the same way, nothing is going to happen."
