#2241893 World Juniors Tournament

Posted by zettie85 on 05 January 2012 - 11:00 PM

I didn't see the first two periods, but the third is awesome! Were the first two this good?

How awesome would it be for Russia to beat Sweden after being down like that? And for the record, I want Russia to win because the Canadians are rooting for the Swedes because Russia beat Canada. How's that for spite?

Nothing to to with losing. Unwritten rule. If you are Canadian you do not hope for the US and you do not hope for Russia, if you can help it. It's that simple. lol

Side note: these folks are very rightfully booing 'Tuzzi.

Just because Moore won't let it go doesn't mean the fans can't either.

#2090191 USA vs Canada (WORLD JUNIOR SHOWDOWN)

US has just been terrible while Canada hasn't looked much better, they are just executing better and capitalizing on their chances.

I'm pretty sure that is what makes the difference between a winner and a loser in any sport. I'm as surprised as a lot of people on here but the Canadians deserve every bit of credit for this game today. They look great. Not just a step above terrible.

#2023041 Why sign a sixth Dman?

Stuart never 'sucked'. He gets labeled a bust since he was drafted 3rd overall as a dynamic 2-way defenseman, but his offensive skills never really developed in the NHL.

But I agree that we need to shake up the lines (or separate Ericsson and Kindl) though I don't think I'd have Janik as a regular.

Personally, I'd like to see Kronwall and Rafalski paired up, even though both are more offense oriented. I think both are guilty at times of taking advantage of Stuart/Nick, so maybe without the security blanket they'd be forced to act more responsibly. Kronwall can be very good defensively, and Rafi is better than he gets credit for.

That would free up Nick and Stuart to mentor the kids (and maybe save Nick a few minutes). In crucial situations we take the kids out of the rotation, and use Stuart and Nick as a strong shutdown pair.

His defense has dropped significantly and his play with and without the puck in the defensive zone is abysmal. He is probably our 4th best defenseman with regards to overall ability. He is overrated by too many people.

#2016004 What's going on with Helm?

Posted by zettie85 on 16 July 2010 - 05:14 PM

They are expecting to sign him and Abby to several year deals after they find out what Madono is doing.

If that is the case then I say screw Modano. He is a decent enough player but really he should jump at the chance to play here. We shouldn't have to wait on him.

There is obviously plenty of time left but I'm sick of guys holding out with no decisions. Maybe it will be another Sundin and Neidermyer situation. If it is I hope the Wings cut off talks with him. Sign our future now. I don't like waiting on people. Just make a god damn decision.

#2013580 Trade Idea with the Ducks

Rafalski's NTC will make it harder to trade him than his $6m cap hit.

I think Rafi can foresee the future. He knew he would suck after a couple years in Detroit so he made sure he got that NTC. :hehe:

People value players differently. In my eyes Stuart is way more valuable to this team than some think. He IS our 2nd best D-man most of the time. Wis can hit and fight but we don't need it. We also do not need an aging Marchant. He would just be adding something to this team that we already have a surplus on which is age.

Whatever smartass. For a 26 year old he has a pretty good body of work. If Stuart was as "awesome" as some of you think he is, he wouldn't have been a vagabond traded by 4 teams before he ended up here.

If he wasn't any good we would never have got him in the first place.

Other than the Ralf part of your post I have no problem with this suggestion.

But then again I am a huge UMaine fan and so any time a UMainer has a chance to play for the Wings I am all in!

Plus the fact he was very solid last year, I just don't think he adds the grit people are looking for quite like a Hnidy.

Hnidy would be a bigger cap hit than Janik. I don't really know if grit at the back is our problem. We just need a stopper. Someone who can get the puck in the corners and slow down an offence. If Janik can go out and quietly do his job that is ok with me.

#2012680 Kovie

How is that possible? Who are you leaving out?

Draper, Cleay, Huds.

This just in. Rafalski to miss entire season after an unfortunate golfing accident.

Wings sign Kovie on 1 year mega deal.

Oh wishful thinking.

Don't waste your money on that crap Mikey.

As ZDC said, MLS.

We don't need an enforcer though. I would rather have a strong 4th line guy who can kill penalties and doesn't have to fight.
