#2618615 Wings sign Brad Richards 1 yr, $3 million

Posted by Crashnburnluder on 01 July 2015 - 11:32 PM

I think the Richards signing is as simple as this... The Less Z and Helm have to play down the middle, hopefully the healthier they stay. Helms speed down the wing and less wear on Z the better.

Plus a 1 year contract takes the stress off Sheahan to be the only number 2 center we have and keeps Z and Pav together.

I don't see the negative, if some one can point it out that would be appreciated. All I see is positive depth, more depth at center, and plenty of options on the PP.

If it's true that Richards prefers the point on the PP, we went from a PP of:
Kronwall and Weiss, kindl, dekeyser, and what ever else to

Kronwall, green, Richards and smith/pulks/?

YES PLEASE!

I just think it kinda worked out nicely that right after the Semin news broke, the Weiss news began. Which opened up money that we didn't have plus a roster spot. I think it would revitalize him.

#2592863 Babcock: Petr Mrazek is starting Game 1

Posted by Crashnburnluder on 13 April 2015 - 11:42 AM

We have a starter's net?

Usually one net is used by the starting goal and they run different drills while the Back up gets the other net and believe they work stuff that they don't want their starter going through

I know not the best area, but is someone making a playoff wallpaper?

#2586949 Opinion: Petr Mrazek should be starting Game 1

Posted by Crashnburnluder on 30 March 2015 - 07:17 AM

The last three losses have all had multiple soft goals. You can't lock down every game. There's going to be mistakes, breakdowns, bad bounces...teams are going to get chances. Goalies have to make some tough saves, and they most definitely should be making the easy ones.

Arizona hardly had any more chances than TB, but nothing seemed to hit Jimmy that night; maybe his positioning was off; then he gave up a buttery soft OT goal. Half the goals in SJ were weak. 2 of Mrazek's today were, and a 3rd was a little iffy. Neither the Sharks nor Islanders had an unusually high number of good chances. Not all the goals were bad and we wouldn't have had shutouts, but you don't need a shutout to win. With as much luck as we've had with our own scoring lately, we should have gotten more than 3 points out of the last 4 games. And we most likely would have if we had gotten decent goaltending.

I agree the tangents can get ridiculous at times, and goaltending is not the only problem with the team. But this last week it has been by far the biggest, and all the ranting is about as justified as it'll ever be.

I agree that our goalies haven't been good, I think I even said it. I just think on top of bad goaltending were hanging them out to dry as well. When you compile everything that's just a recipe for disaster (which is what has happened).

There have been a lot of bad goals over this stretch but I think it's getting to the point that every goa scored against us now is a soft goal. Example I've seen Howard getting a lot of slack for last night for not coming up with the big save. To hang out a goalie, and have one of his first shots come as a Shorthanded breakaway is not helping out our goalie.

I love the tangents LGW goes on sometimes. I feel like I'm one of the few that realize both goalies are not playing up to snuff but I think it has more to do with being hung out to try and blowing their confidence.

I honestly thing our goaltending problems come down to a much bigger problem of just buckling down and playing a good team game. An easy example was the 4-0 Tampa game. Detroit buckled down and didn't give them any grade a chances. Against the Isles tonight we gave up way to many good chances and a terrible PK. Yes not every goal was unstoppable but the team in front of him sure didn't help them out.

Overall this isn't a 1 man problem, it's a team problem. If we lock it down and actually help our goalies out which our team has not been doing, they can start gaining their confidence back and start making the big saves when we need them.

#2586860 3/29 GDT : Red Wings 4 at Islanders 5

I am lost how fans are blaming this on just goaltending??? The team defense is a train wreck! The team, as a whole, not just goaltending so people need to stop pretending that it's just one player... It is a lot BIGGER of a problem because our whole team is playing like dog s***.

Haha, it's not goaltending... It's our team defense why can't people figure that out.

Hahaha, keep blaming Howard guys, your right... Just his fault, zero to do with the awful play in front of him..

Sorry the Babcock quote makes zero sense to me.... "Tie goes to the best player" well then it isn't a tie is it.

People comparing it to the "tie goes to the vet" quote. That was completely different, saying if two players are just as good the vet gets it is way different then if the better guy is better then the better guy plays. That's just common sense lol

#2535718 Detroit offers D Raphael Diaz tryout

Posted by Crashnburnluder on 08 September 2014 - 10:10 AM

So this should end the debate, yes?

Raphael #Diaz accepts the invitation for tryout of the #CalgaryFlames, joins Bob #Hartley and Sven #Baertschi in Camp.

I think that has more to do with the fact he will have way more opportunities and a lot better chance of making an NHL roster.

#2529064 Quincey re-signed by DET. 2 yr s $4.25 mill AAV

Posted by Crashnburnluder on 01 July 2014 - 07:42 PM

How does he replace Lidstrom and Rafalski? Those guys can't be replaced.

you can't replace them, but you do a lot better job then Quincey, losing Stuart, signing a FA that wanted to go no where else in dekeyser.

Chicago has no cap room, but adds brad Richards, we have 12/14 million we give Quincey a raise... There is no way to defend that, sorry

Posted by Crashnburnluder on 01 July 2014 - 07:34 PM

Guys, it's only a 2 year deal. If we signed someone as a FA, we'd have to pay more and for a longer term. For a defenceman who plays 20 minutes a night, it's a good contract. Quincey would have got more if he hit the open market.

Oh no, pay ehrhoff the same or niskanen 1.5 more lol..... There is no way any one can defend holland on this, and say it was the best move for this team and organization.

I'm just at a loss of words... Officially am done defending holland... He has slowly done absolutely 0 to recover from the loss of lidstrom and rafalski
