#2044737 Kirk Maltby to announce he is retiring

Posted by Crymson on 12 October 2010 - 11:53 AM

Best of luck, Maltby!

Draper is probably a lot closer to retirement than he wants to admit.

I wish he had retired so that Ritola could have been retained, but it wasn't reasonable to expect him to do so.

Have you ever watched a hockey game in your life? That fact he got 2 goals last game is no coincidence, even if they weren't spectacular goals. Flip is playing his ass off, in fact he always has, and now he is being rewarded for it. It's long overdue.

The guy you're responding to is a bit of a negative nancy.

Almost as funny as how you group whole groups of fans based off the actions of some. Or almost as funny as your continued attempt to impress people you will never meet online with an obviously dubbed up vocabulary.

Wow, someone's butthurt about something. Did you have a bad day?

i thought they were just as good last year. this year i think the key is to win games earlier in the year so we dont have to make a late season push.

I think that if they manage to score more goals than the opponent in each game, they'll probably do OK.

My God, the breaks are going OUR way now!

*checks for plague of locusts and frogs*

Adam Foote got a point last night.

These are both signs of the apocalypse.

The PT PbPers are morons. If the net is coming off the moorings but the puck is clearly going in anyway, it's a good goal.

Horcoff is certainly one of the league's most overpaid players.

Chicago Blackhawks are putting pizza ads on their practice jerseys.  Seems like it will only go downhill from here, especially because of this comment:

What did their core have to say about this?

#2040772 Ritola will be traded or waived

Posted by Crymson on 05 October 2010 - 02:26 PM

Meh, nothing really special about this guy. I mean if he was such a sure fire bet to be a solid NHL player he would have seen mroe time with the big club, especially with all the injuries this season. People overreact alot. He was skilled guy who couldn't produce points, who cares really. When we lost Quincy he had a solid playoff run with us where he looked great (still can't believe Holland waived him after that run) but this guy has done nothing

He looked great? By that, do you mean he had to be coddled, given very little ice time, and in general protected from the top two lines of Anaheim and San Jose? And did you mean to note that when the Red Wings had that atrocious spell of injuries on defense in early '08, Meech absolutely outshined Quincey in every way possible?

Oh, selective memory...

#2040462 Could Eaves be put on waivers?

George Malik isn't always reliable, and this particular rumor is nonsensical.

You're announcing this as if it's news.

#2038412 Wings release Aaron Downey

Posted by Crymson on 30 September 2010 - 03:15 AM

Your team isn't going deep into the playoffs unless you have a balanced combination of skill, grit, and veteran experience. Bottom line.

2008-2009. Bottom line incorrect.

#2038172 Wings release Aaron Downey

Posted by Crymson on 29 September 2010 - 06:52 PM

In 2006 he had 13 fights. As I said he changed his style of play - that's why he'S fighting less, but as you can see it - he'S fighting with HW, Laraque, Boulton, Peters etc...

That was 2006. Now is now. You're supporting my point.

Also let'S not forget that they had Brashear, Sutherby... so there was no really need for Erskine to fight.

They had neither last season, and Erskine still had only four fights. They nevertheless had the best regular season in team history.

One thing is sure - Caps are tougher than Detroit.

I don't get how this is important. You claimed that every single team uses a Downey-like player. Washington did not have one last year, and they were enormously successful.

Sorry Carman but you are just proving that you are stupid...

You're arguing that the team needs a player like Downey. People are disagreeing.
