Detroit NEVER plays well off of the long break. Ever.
Now they'll be scrambling to get back into the series and they'll try to hard to be perfect on offense and they won't score jack s***. We've seen this script before, except I am not sure this team has the overall talent to play games like this every night.
And the doomsaying begins. If you have so little faith in the team, then stop watching the games.
I guess Lidstrom gets to call the shots. I was of the OPINION that two parties were involved in negotiating contracts. By the responses on here, I guess that's not the case.
With the shape Lidstrom is in, and judging by his performance this year, I have a hard time believing he can't go another 3 to 5 seasons. Especially if Kronwall and another defenseman (Ericsson) start grabbing a lot more minutes per game (which we have all seen happen during regular and post season). I don't think people are realizing that Kronwall has blossomed into a top pair defenseman and that Ericsson has blossomed into a top 4 defenseman (he was hurt in 2009-10, and that's why he had an off year). This means the Wings can slip Lidstrom down to 10-12 minutes of 5 on 5 play per game, 3-4 minutes of PK time, and 3-4 minutes of PP time. If Lidstrom is playing 16-18 minutes per game, he'll go another 3-5 seasons easy. The guy has the most impecable track record of any player in the league. Why not give him 20 mil over 4 seasons? This year to year crap is just Brett Favre-esque drama, if you ask me. Lidstrom is smart for leveraging himself this way, but Holland should know better by now. Lock #5 up. Get it done, Kenny.
No offense... but I think you're just unwilling to admit that you were unaware of the cap rules for players over age 35.
Well, the Wings were going to face a rival either way. I was hoping this matchup would happen in the WCF, but so be it if it's a repeat, schedule-wise, of last year. Regardless of the outcome, the rivalry just got bigger.
I think you're overestimating how much Wings fans care about the Sharks. Sharks fans may see the Wings as a rival, but I don't think that Wings fans really see the Sharks as such. If anything, people here just detest the Sharks for being such a gang of whining divers last playoff year.
He went to the side of the net and was left wide open. He had so much time that he got a second chance after fanning on it the first time.
How, exactly, does this entitle him to any praise? You or I could easily have scored that goal in the same situation. The puck bounced toward him and he had been left uncovered by a totally oblivious Butler.
Awesome post dude. Really addressing the issues, certainly absolutely nothing to worry about with this team, they'll stop playing mediocre which they've done for months, just because it's playoffs time. And who cares about our opponent, and no matter how hungry they are, because they'll be no match for our boys.
Correct. I have every confidence that this team will excel in the playoffs. I don't care a single bit about the possibility of disappointment. Apparently the latter is not true of you.
Not sure what the Wings have done in the last half of the season to earn such magnificent defense and praise but I guess that's just me.
Nightfall: I did before you and Crymson went on with your regular "attack of the posters" crusade. You guys are just too busy jumping up in defense of any player or part of this team that is criticized with sarcasm and exagerrated statements that you didn't notice it.
So as always, anyone calling you out for how often you give up when the Wings aren't dominant and for how often you levy nonsensical criticism, and anyone who disagrees with you on said criticisms, is a complete moron and an utter homer, and you are the ultimate fan.
He would have had to rob the Canes 3 more times to make it a zero-zero game. I agree, he came up with good saves, but Cam Ward stole the show. Either that or the Wings couldn't put the puck in the net. Either way, its kinda hard to win a game when you don't score.
Howard never spends any time in the offensive zone. I dunno why.
