#2408563 WCSF Game 3 GDT - Blackhawks 1 @ Red Wings 3 - (DET leads series 2-1)

I could, but we don't get CBC.   Directv doesn't believe they exist.  I could lie, I guess.  As long as they don't check.... :ninja:

I recently (by this I mean game two) got a friend of mine into watching hockey. He noted Edzo's obvious bias almost immediately.

In Cleary?

Always did.

He wasn't bad tonight.

I think it's the way they deceive their victim into believing they're backing off, been then swooping around and catching them at the right moment.

I don't recall Konstantinov ever doing that.

Who is this "Brad Stewart?" Is he the guy who plays with "Nick Lindstrom?" :-D I keed, I keed...

Those two form a formidable on-ice group alongside Darren McCarthy, Kurt Maltby, and Chris Draper.

#2407189 Danny DeKeyser suffers broken thumb, out for playoffs

Spoke w/Danny DeKeyser who practiced for second time today. Planning doctor appointment this week to see when he can get hard cast off.

@CraigCustance any chance at a possible Karlsson-like miracle return to the playoffs?

.@RyanWalker78 When I asked if playoff return possible, he smiled and said 'maybe.' He's definitely not ruling it out.

Masterful game by Babcock.

#2406655 Trade Smith ASAP!

If we'd traded him, he'd not have scored that goal! :D

The second line would be much, much better without Cleary on it.

Cleary must have some career ending blackmail for Babcock. There is no other explanation for his ice time.

I don't understand it either.

#2406545 Trade Smith ASAP!

First off, you're being a tad impatient with a guy who is in his rookie season.

Second, the Wings have nothing to gain by trading him for peanuts, and much to gain if he gets better---as rookies often do.

Third, you haven't a clue if he's a dime-a-dozen player. If he's the same way in three years, then I'll concede the point to you. As things stand, he's a rookie.

Cleary was the closest forward backchecking.  Quincey is taking away the pass, he makes a nice play but normally you don't expect the D man to pull over that far since the goalie has the shooter and D man takes the pass.

If anything Smith should've kept skating his ass off to pick up the trailer.  Smith made a rookie mistake and everything broke down.

The lengths you guys go to bash Cleary has gotten comical at this point.

Cleary was the closest forward backchecking, and there was another teammate to his right. Quincey was covering the pass. As third man in, Cleary's job is to cover the slot.

The lengths you go to defend Cleary are baffling.

Babcock is excellent, but I'm awfully tired of his confidence in Cleary.

Miller or Eaves would do far better on the 2nd than Cleary. Unlike him, they are neither slow nor awful defensively.

Cleary, too. He decided to double-team Sharp instead of watching the trailing man, so Kane was left wide open.

I'm really, REALLY tired of Cleary. He provides nothing to the team that the average grinder cannot. His defensive acumen now seems to be totally absent.

#2406083 Jack Adams Nominees:

Posted by Crymson on 18 May 2013 - 12:39 AM

Babs doesn't get mention because the team didn't clinch a spot in the playoffs until the final day of the season (for the Western Conference, anyway). That is pretty hard to overcome.

I'm surprised that Adam Oates wasn't nominated in place of Bruce. Perhaps someone was angry that there will be no Caps/Pens series. Wonder who that could be...

You're incorrect on the first point. Bruce Boudreau's 2008 Capitals made the playoffs at the very end of the season, too. As for your second point, also untrue. All voting for awards is done before the playoffs begin.

Babcock will be forever jipped out of this award. It is something commonly remarked upon by hockey commentators. Blowing away every other team in 2007-2008 didn't get it for him, and making the playoff this season despite a substantial transition and a ton of injuries didn't even get him into the top three.

It's a joke.

#2405928 WCSF - (6) San Jose Sharks vs. (5) Los Angeles Kings

Posted by Crymson on 16 May 2013 - 11:56 PM

crazy end to the Kings game.

With less than 3 minutes left and the Kings down by a goal, Stuart gets a tripping call (which I thought was a good call because it was a prime scoring chance).  Then another Shark gets a delay of game for puck over the glass.  Looks like it might've hit carter on the way out, but hard to tell.

Kings score on 5 on 3, then again on remaining power play.  Game over.

I cheered. I'd love to see the Sharks continue to never accomplish anything.
