#2681684 Steve Ott signs 1 year, $800k deal with Detroit

Posted by MabusIncarnate on Yesterday, 03:57 PM

Not gonna lie, i'm pumped. Always loved to hate Ott, he isn't entirely incapable of producing. He punches people. I'm good with this signing, especially at the price.

#2681451 Official 2016 Detroit Red Wings Offseason Thread

I'm a fan of Matt Martin. It would be great to have a guy like that, even if we have a dismal season, at least he punches people in the face. That's something to cheer about.

Merged both of our Offseason threads, not sure why there were two. We can keep it all consolidated here. Carry on.

#2677803 Gordie Howe has passed away. 1928-2016.

Posted by MabusIncarnate on 15 June 2016 - 06:24 PM

Temporarily locking this thread until I can clean this mess up caused by our new friend here. I will bring it back up when it's tidy and all the irrelevant off-topic banter is gone.

UPDATE - Resume discussion as you were, apologies for those who lost posts and content that was in reply to our new troll. Also apologize for not jumping on this sooner, I was at work, but I got on it as soon as I saw the reports in my inbox when I got home.

Lets keep this on topic, even a bit of Ali discussion is fine due to the sports world losing two tremendous figures so close together, but absolutely not in the manner that was presented in the last page of this thread by the new poster. Thanks guys and gals. Long live the memory of Mr. Hockey.

#2677670 NHL Chooses Las Vegas for 17-18 Expansion

Posted by MabusIncarnate on 14 June 2016 - 03:25 PM

While we are putting teams in some of the hottest places in the US, why not try for Atlanta or Arizona while we're at it and see how hockey does in those kinds of markets.

Oh wait..

The death of a legend, and a true warrior and icon of the sport. R.I.P. Mr. Howe, you left your mark on us as fans and the sport of hockey overall. You will truly be missed.

#2677069 Possible Leak of Florida Panthers New Logo

Posted by MabusIncarnate on 06 June 2016 - 06:35 PM

Nothing wrong with the original Panthers jersey.  No makeover needed.

Please give Carolina a new jersey, color scheme and logo.  Same with Arizona and a few others.

I agree with this, I liked the original Panthers jersey so much that I own one. This new one is a downgrade as far as i'm concerned. I liked the Fisherman Islanders jersey too so my opinion is compromised.

I think I agree with the minority here, I like Gostisbehere because of his vast improvement of play game after game in his rookie season, and I think it's a lot harder to adapt to being an NHL level defensemen successfully over being an NHL level scoring forward, and how quickly he did should speak volumes about why he's a nominee. I know he likely won't get it, but Gostisbehere has my vote.

#2675183 Official - Little Caesars Arena

Posted by MabusIncarnate on 05 May 2016 - 02:55 PM

So I think we all had a little taste of how nice and pleasant this forum can be when the Mods just step back and let you do or say whatever you want. (For those unfamiliar, view the "Moderator Problems" thread in the Water Cooler.) This thread got out of hand fast, and it's run it's course at this point, so it's getting the clamp down after a few edited posts. It was just a rare instance that none of us have been around until now to get this under control, but some of the comments made here are pretty embarrassing.

I'm posting a link here to the forum rules, and i'd like everyone to read them over again, and if there is a comment you are about to make that you think is questionable or bordering on being against forum rules, do not post it. Period. We will be posting up a refresher in the General Discussion area as well so we can try to get a handle on things, stop being insulting, and actually return this board back to what it is intended for, Hockey discussion.

#2674232 LGW Moderator Problems

Posted by MabusIncarnate on 28 April 2016 - 02:22 PM

When it's 4+ pages of team bashing and complete nonsense, absolutely. Directly from the forum rules.

· DO post constructively. If you can't add anything meaningful to a discussion, don't bother.

While we have the small handful of posters here that seem to have issues with how things are handled, I guarantee you we have a much bigger concern from posters that think we are entirely too lenient and have expressed to us in PM about leaving this site because of how toxic the GDT becomes, and how X poster is entirely too argumentative and aggressive in their posting style and no longer want to be involved with this community due to these people. Its a two way road, but the majority that send us messages is out of concern about things not being moderated enough and the things we often let slide. If you could only see my PM box and weigh out the positives against the negatives, it may give you a better perspective.

A lot of great members, boosters, and moderators have been chased away from this site from a few of the same very people that are critical of the moderation staff that generally find their way out eventually anyway. The minority of the community feels like the moderators are pushing people away, but the majority feels it is the aggressive and confrontational posters. This is a fact that any member of the staff here would easily back me up on, including Matt.

So I support what the staff does, if threatening to close a GDT after receiving a handful of reports about how out of hand it is getting in the thread to level things out and return it back to game discussion instead of post after post of "This team sucks" "F*** this team" "What a joke" is a big concern of yours, in which the GDT was never, nor has it ever been locked in the middle of any game ever on this site, feel free to send a PM to Matt and we can look into overturning that comment in the now entirely irrelevant GDT.

I've said this time and time again, no forum in the history of the internet's existence has ever had a moderation staff that 100% of the community is content with. It's impossible to please everyone in any scenario like this. It really comes down to how much of it really bothers you and if it's that important to you to be a determining factor if you stay here as a part of the community or take your leave.

#2674049 Possible Leak of Florida Panthers New Logo

I'd like it as a shoulder logo, but not as the primary. Nothing wrong with the current one, it's among the best in the NHL in my opinion.

#2673052 Pavel Datsyuk Career Appreciation Thread (Mod Warning Post #40)

Posted by MabusIncarnate on 22 April 2016 - 06:11 PM

I feel embarrassed for the fan base that this post is even necessary, but this is the career APPRECIATION thread, google it if you don't understand the definition. From this post forward, anything negative, anyone wanting to debate his decision, your post will be removed and you will receive a warning. Show some class for the man that has given us so much over the years and pay your respect, that's the purpose of this thread. Anything beyond that is off topic. Thank you.

#2672729 ECQF Game 5 Post-GDT: at Tampa Bay 1, Red Wings 0 (TB Wins, 4-1)

AA 3rd period ice time: 0:00

See... WHY? Unless he is (or has been) injured, what logic at all, whatsoever, would be the reason to not use him at all? It's really bashing around in my head because I have no clue what they are thinking on this. He's an explosive skater wanting a full-time spot on the roster and has something to prove. Why isn't that player getting ice time?
