#2318038 Chris Neil Signs Extension With Ottawa

Posted by MabusIncarnate on 11 July 2012 - 01:29 AM

Agreed with the comments, Neil is one of my favorite non-wings as well, and i've posted many times that i'd love to see him here someday. Ottawa is smart for locking him up, he is an asset to their developing system.

Him and Clutterbuck have been helping me own the hits category in my fantasy league for the past few years also, had to toss that in there. :P

Today's fun fact: he has never been suspended.

This I did not know.

I will always remember this hit, one of the hardest i've ever seen.

#2318023 The Next Move

They took my job....

THEY TOOK MEH JERB!

South park reference... I think.

I'm not in any kind of panic or concern about this team going forward, maybe it's because I have very high hopes for Smith or maybe it's because Flip proved last season that he can be that scoring player we were hoping he would be. This team wins, and I don't think this upcoming season is going to be any different. It may not be the top seed we are used to but I don't think we are doomed to fail either.

#2317599 How bad are we if our roster is now finalized?

Posted by MabusIncarnate on 10 July 2012 - 03:53 AM

Lol.. Might win the Presidents trophy and the cup next year eh? Yes, I can see it now. Lose Lidstrom and Stuart and add nobody on the back end. Damien Brunner is the biggest signing of the year... So I have only one thing to say to that. In the words of Emilio Estevez when he played Billy the Kid in Young Guns.. "I wouldn't give a bucket of piss for your future."

P.S. Holland better get on his horse and start making some improvements on this roster or you guys are going to be Royally Fuc*ked

Yeah it really sucks that we may have one off year after winning 4 championships in the last 15 years. :sleepy:

#2317597 PK Subban for Flippula and Tatar?

Posted by MabusIncarnate on 10 July 2012 - 03:33 AM

Subban is YOUNG. He is immature and needs to grow up, but entirely too fresh in his NHL career to label him as a locker room cancer. Patrick Kane is a twerp but even he's starting to somewhat come around and act like a professional. I stress "starting to" before the comments start pouring in.

Fact is the kid is skilled, plays a rough game, and could be terrifying on a line with Kronwall for opposing teams to play against. I think a lot of highlights that showed him this past season were showing the negative and it really doesn't reflect his overall potential. You can't really judge any player on Montreal considering the fiasco of a season they just went through, that team is a disaster and being a rookie going into a situation like that can't be positive.

Rumor, faked tweeting, whatever it is, i'm in favor of Subban as a long term option on our D line.

#2316923 A General question

Posted by MabusIncarnate on 08 July 2012 - 02:13 AM

LOL at the chat roulette thing, I tried it once and saw a penis once out of every three tries. Literally.

I can pretty much reflect what metalkorn here said, it's more an internet thing. It's easy to be a tough guy to someone you will never see face to face in your life, and that's why people become so over-opinionated. Fact is, in America, England, Australia, Canada, wherever in the world, there's dickheads everywhere. The good news is the posters that embrace these traits normally don't stick around for very long. I've noticed that we do get some "troublemakers" around here every so often, they piss everyone off for a few weeks and then we never see them again.

If I have a conflicting opinion, I try to remain as civil and respectful as I can, but there's some that like to get into heated debates. I just try to blow off the rude and smart assed comments and stick to reading replies from members that I know aren't going to be jerks even if they disagree with you.

So to sum it up, any forum you visit will have instances like this because that's how the internet works and people are dumb. If it gets exceedingly irritating or you find someone is just attacking you for no reason i'd bring up any issues to the forum moderators.

#2312527 Wings may trade Johan Franzen for Rick Nash?

Posted by MabusIncarnate on 02 July 2012 - 05:44 AM

All indications are pointing to Parise going to Pittsburgh or Philly.  The Red Wings will then sign Ryan Suter and trade Johan Franzen for Rick Nash.

However, there is a possibility the Wings could get Parise, Suter and Nash.  Parise and Nash are both left wing. The Wings are thin at left wing.

Eklund go back to your own site.

Too bad the neg button doesn't exist anymore.

#2311307 i hope we dont panic if suter and parise signs elsewhere

Fans mad? Around here? Nah never...

Good luck with the responses you get to this thread

#2311249 CRAZZZZYYY Roster Idea

Posted by MabusIncarnate on 29 June 2012 - 07:00 PM

Montoya is a steal at 0.875 mil per. Good goalie rarely given a chance in NY regardless of how well he plays, he has an opportunity to shine on a good team.

#2311178 CRAZZZZYYY Roster Idea

Posted by MabusIncarnate on 29 June 2012 - 04:06 PM

I'm going to call you out here, but in fairness this is a gripe that I have with almost every line thread on this site.  That's my disclaimer to here goes...

Drew Miller is a MUCH better forward than Justin Abdelkader.  My almost every measure he out performs Abby.  I like Abby, I want him on the team and all.  But why is Miller always the odd man out on these line combos?  I certainly hope it's not because "Abby's a big bodied guy and one of the few on the team that is physical" because he really isn't that big, or that physical.  Please explain your rationale for me.

Again, I'm only calling you out because this is the most recent time I've seen this, but you're by no means the only person who's done it.

Darth Miller just doesn't have the same ring to it. :)

#2311173 Paul Gaustad re-signs with Predators

Posted by MabusIncarnate on 29 June 2012 - 04:01 PM

He wouldnt be awful compared to some other names mentioned on this forum like Ott and some other injury ridden players. Price is the key factor which im sure he will get overpaid like everyone does. Blahhh....

Ott 39 points 278 hits +5 on a non-playoff team last season. Gaustad a whopping 21 points and a -1.

I'm just sayin.. both guys come at about the same price, Ott will double up Gaustad in points, hits, and he will drop the gloves and stick up for his teammates. Not seeing the appeal of Gaustad over Ott.

#2307938 Thinking of Buffalo Wings.....

Posted by MabusIncarnate on 19 June 2012 - 12:37 AM

Vanek isn't that great imo, the season before last was a disaster for him and I can see him being an off and on type of player throughout his career. No thanks, especially not for 7 mil per.

Derek Roy? Sure if we could convert him to playing wing instead of center. He's the better player when comparing him to Vanek and would probably come cheaper.

I still see any trade in general as a last resort option, why dish out our players and picks when we can sign quality guys without sacrificing any of that? The deal with Stuart happened because it was necessary, not because the Wings are in a trading mindset.

Free Agents are priority #1 and if we do it right no trades are going to happen.

#2307683 If we fail to reload with top UFAs we should?

Posted by MabusIncarnate on 17 June 2012 - 04:36 AM

At that point my guess would be Holland would bring back Hudler, sign someone Seminish, sign someone Widemanish, and add that #2 goaltender. Do I like this? No. Hudler will be overpaid, Semin will be Semin, and Wideman/Quincey/Smith < Lidstrom/Stuart. Holland's got the money though and he's not going to do nothing with it....And basically he's not going to go with a youth movement for the sake of going with a youth movement. I think our young players would be given a lot of chances to make the team though if this happened.

Maybe a trade....maybe

It's kinda shocking how close this is to what I was going to post. Plan B, Semin, Wideman, Hudler and youth. Bring in Josh Harding and potentially a grinder/goon like Prust that has some small level of hockey talent on top of the physical play. For this reason I'd pass on Konopka who i've seen mentioned before.

Good news is that it's now June 17th and we only have about two more weeks of this agonizing anticipation until we actually see what this team does/doesn't do to structure for the future.

New season starts July 15, looking forward to it.

I've restarted the series from season one, planning on watching through it all again before the final season starts.
