I wanted to use the Winter Classic GDT I made one last time, adjusted it to fit this game.

Huge one against the Leafs, this is a game we really gotta win. Get it done boys.

LETS GO WINGS!!!

I want to see Monster in net against Toronto. Big, meaningful game, get in Howard's head a bit and start the backup. Send that message that faith is dwindling a bit and maybe he'll get back on his A game.

We seem to win more with Gus between the pipes, it's worth a shot at this point.

4 games, 4 points including 2 secondary coincidental assists... UNQUESTIONABLE SUPERSTAR!

OK ... looks like we're cooked.  Just checking in and haven't been watching but 3 goals already ... I'm assuming Howard is average?

Howard gave up one weak one, been more of a defensive lapse but some will still claim it's Howard's fault 100% i'm sure. Kronwall has been uncharacteristically bad tonight.

Kronwall has consistently been a bright spot in this dismal season, I can't count how many "bad games" he's had on one hand. He's human, even Lidstrom had the occasional bad game, burying him like this is a bit ridiculous right now.

Making dumb photoshop images is therapeutic when we are losing.

I have to laugh at that FOMOH commercial, since I'm allergic to mushrooms.

It's still early, plenty of time to get it back.

No sound here, anything big in the Datsyuk interview clip?

You aren't missing out on anything, mushrooms are vile.

We took a loss to the Jackets, this is the bounce back game with a sense of urgency. Play that kind of hockey Wings.

#2501602 Net off the moorings question

Posted by MabusIncarnate on 26 March 2014 - 09:43 AM

The fact is had Smith not made contact with the player skating in the net would not have been dislodged and the puck still goes in for a goal. To me it appeared watching it last night that the contact was pretty minor and Smith made an attempt to move out of the way, but the net doesn't go anywhere if his momentum isn't driving the other player in that direction.

In the moment I was annoyed with it, thought the call was wrong, and I still don't agree with it 100% but I understand why it was called the way it was after watching the replay multiple times.

More importantly, it's done and over with, it's not getting overturned at this point and the call stands. Nothing changes that fact.

People are blaming Smith because it partially is his fault, but take him out of the equation, people are still pissed at Smith for not sticking to and covering his man as the goal is scored anyway. It's a lose lose situation for a defender. I'm more irritated with Howard's rebound control lately.

What about breaking up the vets line? I know we dont want to jinx the kid line but I think it's safe to say Nyquist will score wherever he plays and Sheahan and Tatar will work just as good with Alfie on the wing.

I would entertaining trying the top two lines like this

Franzen - Legwand - Nyquist

Tatar - Sheahan - Alfredsson

It's worth a shot, at least try it for a period and see how it goes. Split up the energy guys with some of the vets and see how they work together. It can't hurt.

Maybe toss Helm into that mix also, he wasn't bad tonight.

I did not see any physical play from Callahan. i have read post after post how much he is grinder, tough on the puck. perhaps in the AHL but i did not see it tonight. in no way way shape or form am i contributing his lack of performance to tonight's loss, just an observation. Perhaps i was expecting more based on others postings on how good this kid may be.

If he was anticipated to meet expectations immediately upon call-up he would have been here much earlier.

He's young, he's developing, he isn't NHL ready. He came in just to fill in for injuries, it was his first ever NHL game and he was probably a nervous wreck. I don't expect anything out of him right now.

Good penalty by Legwand

Call me a homer but I see Smith bumping him and then making an effort to skate around him and not continue to shove him into the net. He was covering and sticking with his man, it was Atkinson's momentum that knocked it off I think it would have happened anyway without Smith's help.
