#2492863 3/7 GDT: Devils 4 at Red Wings 7

Posted by MabusIncarnate on 07 March 2014 - 09:38 PM

Who wants to check the front page of this GDT and see my post that says "Legwand with a big 3 point night"?

I love it, welcome to Detroit Legwand.

2 more points and Legwand has matched Eaves' season total.. just saying.

Make that 4 points for Nyquist, 9 points from the N-L-F line. I like what i'm seeing.

This is obviously Howard's fault.

#2492530 Weiss - who would take him next season and does he have a full NTC

Posted by MabusIncarnate on 07 March 2014 - 07:07 PM

Why is everyone so low on Weiss? He was hurt since training camp and wasn't 100% when he did play this season. At least give the guy a chance to show us what he can do. People act like he is a piece of trash off the streets.

I agree, don't judge a player and write him off after 26 games and struggling with a hernia. 4 points in 26 games is not Stephen Weiss. I promise.

Trying to move him right now would make no sense whatsoever, we get a 5th pick for him and suddenly he's healthy and puts up a 60 point season elsewhere, we gave up and asset for next to nothing.

I'm not prepared to write off Weiss already, that's being reasonably unfair considering what he is capable of. Anyone who watched him play a lot before this season knows he is a capable scoring forward and can provide offense for this team over whoever we would start in his place like Andersson or Glendening.

Weiss is an above average, skilled player and the Wings management didn't toss that kind of money at him because he's worthless. Give him a chance.

#2491799 Dear Mr Legwand

Posted by MabusIncarnate on 06 March 2014 - 05:21 PM

The only 42 page thread I see is the one railing the guy and discussion about how bad the trade was. I support a positive thread with an official welcome to Legwand without all the anger and venting. Thanks for posting Shoe.

#2491558 3/6 GDT: Avs 3 at Red Wings 2 (OT) Sorry Nick.

Nice tribute GDT MIkey.

I'd assume if Legwand plays he'll be centering the top line, eager to see what he brings to the table.

More importantly, it's Lidstrom night. I'd like to see this GDT remain about the game and the legend that is Nick Lidstrom, and not an extension of the Legwand trade thread with ongoing bashing and complaining about him all game.

Nick is receiving the utmost respect by never having his number worn again in a Wings sweater, and it's well deserved. May #5 hang among the other legends and it be a great and victorious night.

Wings win 5-1.

GO WINGS GO!!

#2491020 Legwand to Detroit for Eaves, Jarnkrok + cond 3rd/2nd

Posted by MabusIncarnate on 05 March 2014 - 05:12 PM

@mabusincarnate to give up what we did for a mediocre player past his prime, he'll be another cleary Bert Weiss.... I don't need any factual stats I seen him play he's nothing special and certainly not someone who will 'help carry' this team with our real stars injured....

Legwand this season 40 points

Cleary this season 8 points

Bertuzzi this season 13 points

Weiss this season 4 points

Eaves this season 5 points

I fail to see the comparison or the point entirely. So the final verdict is "He's a scrub because i've seen him play and I say so"?

If we wouldn't all be injured he would stay in Nashville.....
And it might have been worst trade of the day

You need to start posting some kind of factual reply instead of just an ongoing rant that "He's garbage, He's a scrub" without any kind of speck of argument to back up your opinion. It's been pages of these replies now.

He's a leader, he's consistent, and even on a below average team he's put together a respectable career. He fills out a center position that we drastically need right now. I'd love to hear all of these negatives that give you such a foul opinion of the guy.

Not saying he's going to have a surge of offense, but he is a former 1st round 2nd overall pick that has played for a not so great Predators team. Consider his point totals over the years with the offense he has around him. Playing on line with who, Craig Smith and Gabriel Bourque this year and still managing 40 points?

I honestly like his chances of putting up mildly better numbers here with guys like Nyquist and Franzen on his line and eventually one of two world class players. If you consider the offensive weapons Nashville has had over the years, it's tough to really name one outside of Weber.

I hope he surprises people and strings together some good offensive numbers so people can relax and see how much Legwand can actually contribute here.

I think people are a bit quick to stomp on the panic button here. What a lot of you aren't considering is Jarnkrok's verbal desire to return to Europe and play hockey over there. If that is the case down the line, Eaves and a 3rd for Legwand isn't bad, especially if Legwand re-signs here.

Look at how many we have injured and Eaves still barely makes the line-up. We have a lot of players that can fill in his role. A 3rd might equate to a bottom 6 forward in 5-6 years, the rarity of getting a gem in the 3rd doesn't outweigh the risk.

A lot of this decision was based around Jarnkrok potentially pulling a Kovalchuk and bailing out of the NHL system. If that happens, a lot of you are gonna feel better about this deal. I'm assuming management knows more about this scenario than we do.

Take a deep breath, this isn't the end of the world.

This trade went from not too bad to awful with the announcement of the prospect involved. Ferraro would have made sense, you know, a guy we were never going to use anyway?
