Posted by MabusIncarnate on 17 February 2013 - 07:48 PM

#2356758 Howard = Average

Posted by MabusIncarnate on 17 February 2013 - 02:58 PM

I post facts that you ignore. This is gonna be my last post in this thread because it's like trying to hammer a toothpick into a steel door.

09-10

37 wins 15 losses 2.26 GAA = excellent/elite

10-11

37 wins 17 losses 2.79 GAA = excellent

11-12

35 wins 17 losses 2.12 GAA = excellent/elite

12-13

Too early to determine.

Howard = way above average. I'm done here.

#2356512 Stamkos

Posted by MabusIncarnate on 17 February 2013 - 01:08 AM

Not in today's NHL. Gretzky's record will go forever untouched because of how much hockey has changed since his dominance. I like Stamkos, he can seriously score but I don't see his career being anywhere comparable to Gretzky. He's going to fall off in production like a lot of the young stars have once defenses and goalies really begin to figure him out, and the same can be said for other players like Malkin.

From NHL.com.

Yes this is called "the source" but it doesn't answer the question of how minimum games played factor into these numbers. 14 goalies in front of Howard have played 3 games or less, which pretty much puts your statistics on Howard in the null and void column. He is currently in company with these awful goaltenders going by what you are looking at on NHL.com; Miller, Lundqvist, Ward, Backstrom, and Fleury. Statistically he's ahead of Quick, Bryzgalov, Smith, and Halak respectively.

So unless you are considering Yann Danis the best goalie in the league this year, who sits at number 1 on your list along with Chad Johnson and Darcy Krumper who also are on top of the list from your source, the numbers you offer are just flat out wrong. You can't really count one or two games played by backup goalies and throw Howard that far down the rankings, not quite how stats work in this argument.

You want an elite goalie like Miller who is playing worse this season and has a more complete team in front of him? You would hate him in a week anyway, maybe we can rotate goalies off waivers until one gets us a shutout and then cut him as soon as he allows one goal. The goalie shuffle has worked out brilliantly for Philly over the years that's exactly what we need, consistency be damned.

Go take a look at elite goalie numbers this season like Quick, Miller, Lundqvist and compare those numbers to Howard and reassess the situation.

I'm reasonably proficient in photoshop but your integration of faces into photos are pretty much spot on. These are excellent, nice work. I wish there was more activity in this area of the forums.

#2355798 Durango Kinect mandatory

Posted by MabusIncarnate on 15 February 2013 - 03:55 PM

It's fine if it's optional, and i'd opt out of it. Making it a mandatory piece of equipment for your console to run is crap though. I understand some people enjoy it, but a majority do not, and i'm not bashing people who enjoy it in the slightest. All i'm saying is it's kind of like if you buy a blu ray player, spend $200 on it with every intention to watch a movie, and you open the box to the manual saying "You are all ready to go, as soon as you purchase the necessary cable for it to work, you can order it for $99 online!" I don't want to be forced into spending extra money for something I will never use just to make the console function properly. It should be an add-on accessory, not a necessity for operation.

For me personally, when I get home from a long day of work, I don't want to stand in front of my console, wave my arms around and jump around just to play a video game. I want to sit back, kick up my feet, and use a controller to play whatever I want. If people want to do that, fine, but sell it separately. It's working fine now, they sell arcade consoles, standard consoles, and kinect consoles, because people want the option of having the equipment they want and not having to purchase the add-ons they don't want.

#2355758 Durango Kinect mandatory

Posted by MabusIncarnate on 15 February 2013 - 01:25 PM

I owned a Kinect, played with it twice, and traded it in within the same week. Motion controlled gaming is NOT what the majority of gamers want, and I continue to wonder why they stress this so damn much. If this is the case, and the console won't function without motion controlled devices then I may look elsewhere and avoid Microsoft's console this time around. Something about being connected online with a camera on me at all times makes me nervous, i'm not paranoid but you can't tell me that MS can't link into it and watch you randomly if they want to. It's like when Aarons was renting out computers and taking photos of the people using them through their system when people weren't paying their bill. It's a violation of privacy, regardless if this is the intention of MS or not, it's intrusive.

#2355568 Will the NHL Ever Go to a Wider Rink?

Posted by MabusIncarnate on 14 February 2013 - 04:43 PM

We could just throw everyone off and leave it to the discretion of the team's own arena like they do in baseball. We could have "Mile Long Stadium" and "The Glass Monster" with 40 foot tall boards where over the glass delay of game penalties become a non-factor. Random length and width for each stadium would be entertaining, imagine the ice space in Phoenix with all that extra seating room to spare.

#2355556 Valteri Flippula

Posted by MabusIncarnate on 14 February 2013 - 04:07 PM

To me it came down to Flip or Huds, and Huds was the odd man out. Val needs to stay, people need to consider the age of Dats and Zett and that we need some younger skill for our future that aren't unproven prospects. Considering options, Filppula is among the last i'd move because long term we need him pretty badly and he's an important part of our overall development.

#2355550 Howard = Average

Posted by MabusIncarnate on 14 February 2013 - 03:58 PM

You have a tattoo of Calvin pissing on the logo also? Even now you make excuses for why we aren't playing worse and why we will in the near future. Come March and we are still playing well it's gonna turn into "Just wait til April when we are good and tired, boy will we suck then." And i'm just waiting for the new thread to pop up as soon as we go on a 4-5 losing skid at some point this season making sure everyone here knows you were "right".

I'm fine with criticism, I really am, but I don't think i've read a positive word you've typed about this team. Ever. A balance of good and bad is fine on a team fan site, but the consistent and repetitive ripping is bound to draw some negative attention, it's nothing personal but ffs act like you are a fan of the team once a month.

And no, cutting Howard and letting Mrazek play after he played one NHL game and performed well would definitely make Holland look like a fool, which is your every wish but isn't going to happen in the real NHL. So no, I don't see how that works, a Victor Fasth scenario is very rare and far between, and outside of injury Hiller has been much worse than Howard over the last couple seasons. Mrazek is hardly a proven and viable replacement for Howard if we even did need one, which we don't.

The vote tally on this thread sitting at 1 star about sums it up.

#2355499 Howard = Average

Posted by MabusIncarnate on 14 February 2013 - 01:29 PM

Axe you also continued to rail this team saying we were pretty much doomed to fail this season and Holland would get what's coming to him at the end of the year because of our miserable performance... As we sit in a playoff spot. Now that it appears you are wrong about that so far, it's time to start stabbing elsewhere, in this case, Howard. And of course it's followed by another new thread by you self assuring yourself that you have to get some point across to drag this team down further. I'm really starting to question whether or not you are a Wings fan or a fan of another team incognito.

Howard is fine, more importantly, WE HAVE A WINNING RECORD. Only Yankees and Flyers fans should have room to complain considering the season that's been put forth so far, but we aren't those kinds of fans. Is it that hard to sit back, appreciate the fact that we have hockey back and we are playing a hell of a lot better than most people anticipated?

#2349066 Zetterberg's Great But...

Posted by MabusIncarnate on 30 January 2013 - 02:02 AM

You need to factor in the players on their lines for all of those seasons, how often they were on the same line together, injuries and length of time missed, etc. There's nothing reflecting favoritism here at all because the differences are so small and there's a tremendous amount of factors outside of the numbers.

RTooDToo needs to be someone's username on this site. Boba Fetterov is the only thing I can think of and it doesn't even apply to the current team, got some creative Star Wars minds around here. I love this thread. :)
