#2570116 2/11 GDT : Red Wings 1 at Penguins 4

This is like when I try to play goalie in NHL 15 drop in games, except the shot total for the other team is more like 6-7.

There is literally nothing about modern music that appeals to me. 60's to 90's is where i'll remain until music becomes music again.

All of a sudden, 1st in the East. You gotta love the prowess of this squad and the consistent winning, it's a heck of a lot less stressful than the injury plagued previous season that seemed to diminish the spirit of a lot of the fans.

Let's continue the winning ways, the butt pats, and the dignified victories. It's a lot more fun all around when things are rolling this smooth.

#2568410 Marchenko recalled from GR... Ouellet sent down

Posted by MabusIncarnate on 04 February 2015 - 10:25 PM

Per Khan

"The move enables Ouellet to join the team on its annual Fathers/Mentors trip with his dad, Robert, a former professional hockey player in France and Germany.

Ouellet is not expected to play Thursday in Colorado - coach Mike Babcock said he was not making any lineup changes from last Saturday's game - but he might play Saturday at Arizona.

A roster spot opened for Ouellet when goaltender Tom McCollum was reassigned to the Griffins.

Jonas Gustavsson, already on the active roster, was scheduled to join the Red Wings in Denver on Wednesday night. He completed his two-game conditioning stint for the Griffins earlier in the day, making 30 saves in a 3-1 victory at the Toronto Marlies. Gustavsson, who suffered a dislocated shoulder on Nov. 5, stopped 59 of 62 shots in going 1-1 for the Griffins."

#2568381 Great Brandon Prust Article

Posted by MabusIncarnate on 04 February 2015 - 07:42 PM

I'm a fan of guys like this, Chris Neil, Cal Clutterbuck (not so much a fighter but man does he hit), guys who have a strong physical presence but actually have a bit of offensive skill and can put up a few points per season unlike guys like Konopka. Clutterbuck was the short handed point leader on the Wild 2 straight seasons I believe, was great on the PK, and still showed the ability to put up some points.

I think he makes a good point, that if you eliminate fighting from the game, it takes the fear out of players a bit more to lay out hard hits and cheap shots to other players when the only risk is a fine and/or suspension opposed to getting your face bashed in and answering for the physical output they inflicted.

I also respect the drive, it's like any job, if you aren't succeeding in a certain role, take on a different one and see if you can improve your value and make your presence known by gaining more tools. Guys like Prust dig in hard, give it their all every night because if they don't, they risk potentially losing their spot to someone else that can contribute more.

#2568107 Report: Red WIngs interested in Franson

Posted by MabusIncarnate on 03 February 2015 - 09:16 PM

Moved this to the trade rumor section.

It's an interesting option, i'm not sure either how inclined Detroit would be to deal with Toronto either. I think he would fit into our top 4, depending on who was moved out for him if it wasn't solely a pick.

OEL is untouchable, I recall reading somewhere saying they refuse to trade him unless it's for Crosby. We would have to make a monster offer and give up way too many assets to bring him here. Yandle is a bit more realistic.

Mrazek confirmed to be playing on Thursday, no Monster yet.

Nice GDT - But I think you (accidentally) granted Jonathon Bernier's biggest wish...

Wow, how the heck did I do that?

After further investigation, Bernier and Bishop are files next to each other in my player pic folder, I must have accidentally clicked on Bernier instead and the blue on white played tricks on my eyes and I posted it without even realizing it.

Good catch

Why is Ronald McDonald holding a rocket launcher, I wonder?

I saw the UFO and Sasquatch before even catching that.

#2560568 Time for Teemu?

Posted by MabusIncarnate on 04 January 2015 - 04:23 AM

Some may interpret this thread as a knee jerk reaction, but consider what our big turn around was last season. It took a plague of injuries to see what Nyquist, Sheahan, Tatar, Jurco could bring to the table and now they are ALL on the roster because of their performance.

Give the kids a shot, why not? It may be the push they need back in the right direction of a successful start to the season. I don't see it hurting anything, they can't show off what they got if they don't get the opportunity.

I'm not opposed to a Teemu appearance. Kindl can take off also in favor of XO.

#2560318 Winter Classic lowest rating ever (2,3)

Posted by MabusIncarnate on 03 January 2015 - 02:20 PM

I think last year especially, the outdoor games got entirely overdone and it lost that "special occasion" appeal.

If it were up to me, i'd do it in rotation with the Olympics. One Winter Classic game for 3 years, take a year off for the Winter Olympics. 3 Winter Classic games total every 4 years, no Stadium Series, no other events. Keep it limited and maintain the feel of it being an important event.

That's just how I feel about it.
