I find it bizarre that there's so much discussion over a fourth liner. It took most of the summer for the guy to sign a one year 700k contract. Obviously he's not a highly sought-after commodity and he wouldn't make a big difference to this team.
He hasn't broken 30 points since 2003. Looking at hitting he had 92 hits in 72 games last year on a team whose culture is supposedly based around physicality. Jonathan Ericsson had 93 hits in 10 less games, and the guy barely hits at all. Asham's 92 hits actually puts him in a 5-way tie for 206th in the league for hitting last year. How inspiring.
I swear, someone on this board a couple of years ago just started pushing for him enough and this got some momentum. We're fine without him.
Also, it would be great if people could stop commenting on others' perceived intelligence, children, mothers, dogs and whatever else. Just stick to the topic.
I really hope they sign all of these guys even Maltby because the guy is still a warrior, he's got heart and he's still a force along the boards. what do you guys think about the article. oh and 1.25 for modano is about right for one year and for the talent the guy still has.
to summarize, thta is how you win tournaments that are on you FFFFf***ing land... Wanna to be the best? Cheat on the best! That's you Cnadian formula!
Um, no. A little bitter? Random goal from 14 years ago?
THIS is why:
With two minutes to go, they were pressing in Canada's zone when Curtis Joseph committed right and put himself out of the play. The puck went to unchecked Sergei Nemchinov, who threw it in the open side. But another commotion arose, and after much discussion this goal was also called back. It seems the reason Nemchinov was so open was because the Russians had six skaters on the ice and had not yet pulled their goalie. No goal, plus a two-minute penalty for too many players on the ice. Team Canada squeaks out by the skin of their teeth.
So no, the Canadian formula is not cheating. Their formula is outplaying the Russian team.
Definately not alone. Theres quite a few of us who don't want him here.
We just keep quiet because we keep having our posts minused
This is why I loathe the +/- system here.
If there's a feature that actually hinders the one thing that this board if for - discussion - then I say ditch it.
But anyways, I do want Modano, although I'm not as excited about it as I initially was. I think having a third line that can score a bit like in the '08 and '09 seasons would make us much more competitive. And in terms of gritty players, I don't see a whole lot of particularly attractive third/fourth line options.
Yeah, I also lived in a craphole rental in New Port Richey, FL. Should I go back because they won the Cup that year? I know it's an extreme example, but people become almost religious about moves made during a Cup year.
Clearly comparable to the defenseman who played 24:53 a game when we won the Cup.
He was great for us. He also put up 14 points in 22 games. Not bad for a defenseman. Oh, and that's also more than Lidstrom.
