#2679099 The Holiday tradition: 2016 Draft thoughts.....

Posted by FireCaptain on 24 June 2016 - 08:18 PM

I love how everyone thinks KH and the gang suck.. Meanwhile, they're making moves to ditch cap space and get better. The best picks are gone.. why not trade down, shed salary cap, and pick a few spots later. BRILLIANT!

Dafuq am I looking at? It looks like a CAD drawing of a die for use in Dungeons and Dragons.

I couldn't see it either, it asked to download some app, eventhough I'm on a pc

Here's the Chart

#2677881 NHL Chooses Las Vegas for 17-18 Expansion

Travesty, a sham, and a mockery - a traveshamockery!

A beer ad involving Bob Odenkirk!

This reminds me of a commercial years ago...'Sham-mockery' was the theme, and if I remember correctly it was a NHL Network commercial.

I went and found it for ya..

#2675063 Calder finalists

I don't think anyone is upset with that. I think some are upset with at least 2 of the 3 choices tho.

Are people really upset Larkin isn't a finalist? He's not one of the three best rookies. Period.

No, but that's a neat bit of history.

Okay. But he was probably the biggest sports star and a national hero at the time and African-American. Oh and this was 10 years before Jackie Robinson played MLB.

In one of the most famous sporting events of the century, he fought and beat, Max Schmeling, a German fighter, who's previous dominance the Nazi's claimed as proof of ayran superiority. Schmeling's publicist said a black man could never beat him and that Schmeling's winnings would be used to build Nazi tanks. The fight was hyped as Fascism vs. Democracy, Hitler raised the natonal curfew so all could listen to it and Roosevelt brought Louis to the White House before the fight to encourage him. This was about a year before war broke out in Europe.

Did I win you over yet?

Yes, you do on some level. You took time to click reply, type your words, and click submit.

Sorry, I don't care.

This only works if the goalie pads look like crazy bread or caesar wings.

Goal net area made to look like dipping sauce??

along with the new arena, LC is also sponsoring the future Red Wings 3rd or alternate jersey

#2673675 Holland (selfishly) declined promotion

Posted by FireCaptain on 25 April 2016 - 10:03 PM

I didn't see anyone mentioning this bombshell.

Dear ol' Kenny was asked to take a different job so as to keep The Captain with the team as GM. He declined.

When Steve Yzerman left the front office to manage the Lightning, Mike Ilitch said he had approached Holland about moving up in the front office to make room for Yzerman as general manager.

Ilitch said Holland declined.

Now, Holland’s tasks are formidable and mounting, and his joke several seasons ago that Lidstrom’s retirement might hasten his own is less humorous.

He faces fierce urgency in a hot kitchen, likely to get only hotter.

Steal one at the Amalie and let's make this a series!!

#2668647 Silly Question - to go or not to go to game 2?

Posted by FireCaptain on 15 April 2016 - 11:57 AM

It is your time, my son.

They said no Wings gear - they never, specifically said "NO Octopodidae strapped to your leg with Saran Wrap".

Chester Cheetah says, "You've trained your whole life for this. Make it rain 'pi at the Amalie!"

Alright. I guess I will do it. Still really ridiculous they have that rule for box seats. Hope someone has an octopus tonight. Was a little disappointed it didn't happen game 1 after the second goal. Here's to a steal on the road and a sweep at home!

#2665263 2016 Playoffs % chances (part II)

Posted by FireCaptain on 07 April 2016 - 03:39 PM

Det +136

Bos -150

Betting on the over/under (5) is going 92% over.. people are expecting a high scoring game apparently.

Det +126

Bos -139

59% bet the OVER.

Det +125

Bos -145

Their over under is OVER (-130), under (+110).

For those that don't gamble the numbers are based on a $100 bet. If the number is a plus, you bet $100 to win that amount. If the number is a minus, you have to bet that amount to win $100. So the minuses are the favored teams.

#2665228 2016 Playoffs % chances (part II)

We need to lock 3rd place up tonight and then let BOS/PHI fight it out for the WC spot.

That very huge win last night could very well be irrelevant. I'm not getting ahead of myself. This is still the biggest game of the season

#2665216 2016 Playoffs % chances (part II)

Detroit Red Wings Playoff Chances 50/50
Beat Philadelphia 3-0, playoff odds up 16.6 to 91.4%
93 points   41 28-11
Repeat performance of last night tonight vs. the Bruins and Saturday's a rest day!
