#2607011 Babcock granted permission to talk to other teams

Posted by FireCaptain on 10 May 2015 - 04:59 PM

Absolutely not accurate.

My personal situation - was on a fire dept. Ready to be chief, rode as chief when chief wasn't around. Got tired of waiting. Other chief opportunity came up at other department. Let my old chief know I was looking - common courtesy - not because I wanted to leave, necessarily, but because it was time to move up. Ended up not getting other chief spot but then old chief retired and I promoted into the position I wanted originally.

I didn't WANT to leave department #1, but I needed to test the waters to see what else was out there and to see if, in fact, I was as ready as I thought I was.

Babcock's not looking to get promoted, but why - after working this hard to be this ELITE as a coach - would you not want to stick your toe in the pool and at least see what the temperature was?

IMHO, it makes perfect sense.

the fact he is looking at other options to me means he is on his way. If you are happy in your job/work you dont go looking for alternative employment. Im not saying he shouldnt do it, it just sends me negative vibes that he'll be here next season. The wings front office have stopped any team from talking to Blashill which also sends the signal to me that they fear Babcock is on his way and they want Blashill as his sucessor. Babcock works with the AHL roster pre-season only so i dont see how that warrants 10 years!?, anyway im not here to argue mute points just expressing my feelings on the situation that has arisen. But if Babcock is still the Redwings head coach come Sept then ill be very surprised.

Wait, so we should let the farm team get overripe?

I guess you didn't read the part where Mrazek's a rookie. This wasn't Howard's fault either obviously.

#2580776 Helm injury update and a very good one too

Quit blaming the line combos on Babcock's perceived insanity. Pavel ASKED for Glendening.

Can we all just trust that the PROFESSIONALS usually have a really good idea what they're doing?

Edit: forgot the link: http://redwings.nhl....vid=DL|DET|home

DETROIT – Pavel Datsyuk has done it before, taking replaceable fourth liners and making them into valuable additions to the Red Wings’ top scoring line.

His latest reclamation project is Luke Glendening, the gritty fourth-line center who has arguably been the team’s most trustworthy penalty killer this season.

Pav wanted someone to work,” coach Mike Babcock said when asked about Glendening’s ascent. "He’s the guy who said ‘Put Glennie with me.’ So I put Glennie with him.”

Glendening is the latest bottom-six forward to join Datsyuk on the Wings’ top line, following Justin Abdelkader and Darren Helm, amongst others, who in the past worked as reliable puck retrievers for the Magic Man.

How else would I know to call 1-800-DUI-MIKE if I get pulled over on the way home after having too many ginger ales?

Gah, seeing those uniforms is like being forced to stare at the advertisements placed above urinals in the a men's bathroom.
