    Wings @ WC´21

Seider named top defenceman in the tournament, hell of an accomplishment for a 20-year-old playing on a team that didn't win a medal. Can't wait to see him on the Wings.

    Seider for Captain

Maybe someone else has made the same comparison, but I haven't seen it. I, too, think Pronger is exactly who he might become.

    Johnson, Killorn, and a 1st?

As potentially valuable as guys like Johnson and Killorn might be to playoff contenders, contracts of that length and dollar value would not be easy to unload at the trade deadline, IMO. If either guy comes here, best assume he's here until the final year of his deal.

    2020 Offseason

So no reverse logo. Nothing except grey striping. it's almost as if they didn't bother trying.

    2020 Offseason

If the league goes to some sort of "reverse retro" look, wouldn't it make sense for the Wings to reverse the logo, as they used to do? I've never understood why they went for exactly the same logo on both home and away jerseys when it worked perfectly as a reversible look for decades before the change was made (in the early 1980s, I believe).

TB vs CBJ - Series Thread

    1. Stevie Y could be officially available a lot sooner that we all expected. 2. Leafs' road to Eastern Final (or Bruins', for that matter) is suddenly looking freshly paved and pothole-free.

Hossa's Career Might Be Over Already

"But right now, general manager Stan Bowman has the ability to dump Hossa's cap hit onto a budget team that is looking to get to the salary-cap floor without spending any actual money." Correct me if I'm wrong, but there is actual money owing to Hossa, is there not? It may come off the cap because of LTIR (if applicable for a team that is up against the cap), but the player still gets paid, does he not?

Official 2018 Off Season *Rebuild* Thread

Whatever we do with Mantha and Larkin (and other young players), please please no more NTCs. Those are the scourge of the NHL.

    Detroit's first rounder.

Thanks for that link. FWIW (which is nothing since it's a simulator), I tried it 20 times. Wings got first pick twice, second once and third once. Mostly picked eighth or ninth under the sim.
  10. Yeah, my mistake. Z was an almost unstoppable force that year, especially in the final where he seemed to practically will the team to victory.
  11. Fedorov for sure. The best player in hockey for a season, and one of the top 10 for many seasons. Datsyuk for sure. Widely regarded by his peers around the league as the most talented two-way player and the most dangerous to play against. Zetterberg yes. Captain of a Stanley Cup champion and a warrior for 15 years and counting. Osgood no. Never close to the best goalie in the league. Two Cups is nothing to sneeze at but he wasn't the main reason either Cup was won.

    2017 NHLTrade Deadline Discussion

Sorry if this has already been discussed elsewhere, but I seriously think Holland should ask Z and Kronwall if they'd be interested in trades to contenders. Z has a cap hit of $6M which makes it tough, but he but will probably play only another two years, and maybe only one more year. Kronwall's cap hit of $4.75M is also tough but he will probably retire after next season (when his actual salary will be a manageable $3.5M). It's difficult to imagine anyone taking on those cap hits, but either guy could be a hell of an addition to a team with Cup aspirations. Kronwall is beaten up and has not had a good season, but he's a playoff-tested defenceman who could log top-four minutes somewhere. Z is still a tremendous player and leader.

    Bjørn Botta Skaare

I'm afraid I can't offer any help, but I sure am curious as to why you are doing a book on Skaare. Was he a superstar in Norway or something?

    Hall of Fame Worthy

Datsyuk was hugely respected by his peers. They don't vote for the Hall, but their opinions are widely known in the hockey community. IMO Datsyuk goes in within the first 3-4 years of being eligible.

    Darren Helm re-signed: 5 years, $3.85m AAV

I would have been OK with him walking, but maybe this is a reaction to Filppula/Weiss -- overpay the guy you know rather than the guy you don't know who will replace him, and hope that in a year or two he isn't considered overpriced for what he brings.
