#2683900 Red Wings All-Bust Roster

Posted by GoalieManPat on 25 July 2016 - 11:03 PM

Curtis Joseph

What are you takling about? In his two years here during the playoffs he had a GAA of 1.75 and a save % of .928. Top multi year playoff numbers for any Wings goalie since his time here. Not to mention he handled the Hasek s***show of 03 pretty darn well.

I cant wait for other GM's to lowball KH on every trade offer this offseason as they know he HAS to make a trade.

Helm + something (pick, young prospect) for Trouba ftw !!

It would be very bad form to trade a guy a couple days after you re-sign him. It would look very bad on the organization. Especially since he signed for less than what he probably would have gotten on market.

#2681831 Thomas Vanek signs 1 year, $2.6m deal with Detroit

No risk high reward signing. The worste outcome is he bombs and they drop him next offseason. If he finds his scoring touch again though he could become a valuable asset come deadline day. Flip a 3rd tier FA into a couple young guys or a draft pick would be a great hockey move.

This would have been a great pickup 5 years ago.

#2681424 Frans Nielson signs 6 year $5.25m AAV contract with Detroit

Posted by GoalieManPat on 01 July 2016 - 01:02 PM

6 years for a 32 yr old isn't bad to you?  :eh:

Better than a 4 year deal for a 36 year old. Shorter term would have been great but outside of a top D finding a center is this teams biggest need. Him and Backes were the best options out there and they both got pretty much the same deal. He had to take on length to get the player. If you think your going to get deals on even decent players in Free Agency nowadays you are wrong. Every deal is going to be overpayment.

Many of us aren't happy with the length of the contract.

Myself - I wish Kenny had the cojones to make a trade to improve the team...He's too worried about giving up some prospect, roster player, or draft pick/s.

Exactly the last couple years show he needs to throw in extra years to get a guy. Had he pulled out and got nobody people would have roasted him even more.

Its amazing people are banging on Holland for signing him instead of other FA's. Its like you people believe that Holland gets his choice from of all the guys available. It takes two to get a contract done. Kenny can be willing to sign a guy but if he has no interest in coming to Detroit its not going to happen. Detroit is not a prime spot for FA's anymore. We need to realize this. In order to get guys here you are seeing Kenny have to give and extra year or pay more salary. This signing isnt bad at all.

Bringing miller back may be the same thing they did with cleary. If a kid beats him out in camp, down to Rapids he goes...

Except it took 3 years of over the hill Cleary for that to happen.

While I would love a player like Lucic I dont trust the guy. Ive said before I feel he will be the next NHL to come out as having a major chemical dependence problem. Dude has to be coked up to act the way he does sometimes. Dont want him getting a big money contract. I would have loved the Martin rumors had Miller not gotten the new contract. Only really makes sense if Holland is looking to offer up some of our younger bottom six guys in a move for a dman but in reality who would want any of them outside of AA. You cant trade away AA with Helm walking. Hes a direct replacement with a higher ceiling. It seems Detroit is exploring everyone on the market. Maybe thats Kenny's plan. Be in on everyone so nobody knows your true plans.

And he's one hit away from being Franzen 2.0.

So is Crosby but that wouldnt stop every team in the league from jumping at the chance to acquire him

Anybody who thinks Buffalo is some desire able landing place for Stamkos has obviously never spent much time in Buffalo. Yikes.

The same argument could be applied to Detroit. Lets hope he doesn't value the city to highly as Toronto would win in a landslide compared to the other two.

#2679606 Alexander Radulov: Wings on short-list of desired teams

Posted by GoalieManPat on 26 June 2016 - 10:14 PM

Obviously the guy was just angling for the highest contract possible. Probably told KHL teams if they dont meet his demands he will go to the NHL and then told NHL teams if they dont meet his demands he would stay in the KHL. Eventually he knew someone would overpay him.
