So does flipping Babcock for a 3rd from Toronto count as Hollands best trade the last coupe years?

I've believed all along and even spoke about it on 97.1 The Ticket, Detroit/Holland had the upper hand the entire time, either they keep Babs or have Blashill in hand.  No doubt in my mind that Holland pretty much knew this was happening, at least was 90% sure.  I don't doubt Blash is named to be the next HC today.  Blashill has to be flying high right now!  I am too! At least Blash should play the kids in the right spot and not put players in the top 6 that don't belong there!  Jurco and Pulkkinen will prove that they belong higher than the 4th line!

I feel Blash is more than willing to give the kids a chance. Look at baby Bertuzzi. He came in with a couple games left in the season and now is getting important minutes in the playoffs.

I want a proven coach. (why I suggested bylsma lmao)

What has Bylsma proven? He got a cup in 09 for taking over a team in February that got hot at the right time. After that he has proven to be able to take a loaded roster and get ousted in the first and 2nd rounds of the playoffs. Lets not forgot Babs was far from a proven coach when hired and that worked out well.

The Griffins had a very good team this year and it took them some time to gel.  I can attribute the Griffins success to Blashill this year.  As you said, not all head coaches are good assistant coaches.  Will he succeed?  I certainly hope so.  If he struggles out of the gate, many wings fans will not have tolerance for failure.  Heck, 1st round playoff exits won't cut it for many of the fans here.  Its not "cup or bust" by any stretch, but you get the idea.

Im not saying the Griffins are a bad team by any means. Im just saying his first your GR was really good. Since then due to callups and player movement the team isnt nearly as strong as the 12-13 team yet hes still getting the same results. Personally I like the idea of a Michigan boy coming it and bring the Wings back to an elite team.

I wish all the best to Babcock.

My main concern is now twofold.

#1 - Can Blashill succeed at the NHL level?  When he was an assistant with the Wings a few years ago, the special teams he was in charge of was in the bottom half of the league.  The fans didn't want him around, and they saw the move to the Griffins as a demotion.  Can he be a head coach in the NHL?  I guess we will see.

#2 - Who is going to coach the Griffins after Blashill gets promoted?  After years of watching the Griffins have great talent and miss the playoffs or suck badly in the postseason, I really hope the Griffins can get someone else who can groom these kids and get them ready for the NHL.  Our pipeline is very important.  If it was me, I would be making both the AHL and NHL coaches very well paid if they are successful.  I am nervous that we won't find someone as good as Blashill or better at the AHL level to help lead these kids.

Not all head coaches are good assistant coaches. It could have also been a thing where like players he just wasnt ready for the NHL. He has grown in the AHL from what he was as an assistant and you can see the results hes getting with lesser rosters each season.

#2608869 Babcock granted permission to talk to other teams

Howard Berger ‏@Berger_BYTES 11m11 minutes ago

Can't confirm, but told in email from source #Leafs offered Babcock dual role of GM and coach. Why not, huh?

Lol if this is true then add it to the list of things Babcock said he wanted that ended up not being true.

1. Biggest thing is where family wants to be. - Family wants to stay in MI

2. Money doesnt matter - Takes massive contract

3. Wants to win - Toronto is terrible

4. Is a coach and doesnt want to manage - Toronto offers coach/gm role.

Toronto it is!

So the standard for the league is hits like this are suspendable but Big Buff can full on sucker punch a guy in the back of the head with nothing. This league is a joke.

Now look at Montreals Centers and D... What will they do against us? Price is great but he can't carry them forever

Lets win Monday before worrying about Montreal....if it even ends up being Montreal.

Z had an alrightt game to me, still hasn't scored a goal if he doesn't wake up this series is over.

I agree he was twice the player hes been all series tonight. Set Nyquist up for two grade A chances that Nyquist somehow lost control of the puck. Was also wide open on Nyquists 10ft high saucer pass on a 3v1.
