#2667205 Free Press: Pavel Datsyuk to return to Russia following Playoffs

Posted by WingsallTheway on 12 April 2016 - 06:48 AM

Sorry if someone else posted, but in this article http://www.tsn.ca/da...r-cent-1.470019 he says he has not 100% decided yet.

Really messing with people's emotions. If you arent completely decided don't say anything at all

#2666592 Who will finish as the leading scorer for the Red Wings 2015/2016?

Posted by WingsallTheway on 09 April 2016 - 04:50 PM

Not quite the 86 Oilers.

I remember back in the day when Lidstrom had something like 88 points and we played Nashville? in the playoffs. Theyre leading scorer had something around 45 points and I thought it was the funniest thing of all time.

Well here we are...

Dylan - Dylan - Dylan - Dylan - Dylan

Did Howard just give Blashiill the business? If so, my new favorite player

#2664364 2016 Playoffs % chances (part II)

Posted by WingsallTheway on 04 April 2016 - 07:10 AM

don't look now, but add another team to our chances of passing up....The Rangers are only 4 points ahead of us, on a 2 game losing streak and are only playing .500 the last 10.  They currently sit 4 points ahead of us, could possibly be a do or die for them when we play them the last day of our season...

I think our chances to make the playoffs are pretty good (unless we s*** the bed all 3 games) considering we could pass Philly (they still have another game against Pit) if we beat them Wed...we could pass any of Philly, Rags, Isles, Bruins...also an outside chance we could catch Tampa, they are also 4 points ahead of us.

What a mess, yet the competition is going to be fierce this last week of play...lets hope The Wings all show up!

The game against Boston is our biggest one. Its very intereresting because you couldn't ask for 3 better teams to play at the end of the season. All 3 teams are within reach of us in the playoffs and its sort of like a mini playoff. I love it

Agreed and kronwall-green should be a pairing

Kronwall is too slow right now to be covering for Green.

Honestly though, with our D, I'm not really sure there are any pairings that make sense.

Coreau killed it pencilling in the faceoff stats tonight

#2660451 Looking ahead at expansion draft

Posted by WingsallTheway on 16 March 2016 - 01:36 PM

Supposedly, the tsn tweeters are suggesting that there will also be a rule that players on first 2 years of their ELC will automatically be protected so that means we would not have to use a protection on Larkin.

That is actually a fantastic rule and I'll have to give the NHL credit on that one.

I'm sure the NHLPA stuck theyre noses in on that one

Wow so that means Edmonton Edmonton will soon have a line of Laine/Puljujarvi McJesus Hall - f*** that such an insane line wow. No wonder oilers fans are excited I would be too.All Chiarelli has to do is trade another young guy for a stud d men...Edmonton will be scary good soon

A 1 percent chance at Matthews? I'd take that over the playoffs for sure because it would also mean a higher chance on one of the other top picks

Yeah I'm a big fan of the new lottery system. Doesn't play into the hands of the bottom feeders and it gives mediocre teams around the 10-15th spot a chance to continue succeeding and land an above average pick instead of floating around in mediocricy.

This also works out for the Oilers unfortunately because they will be an average team for the next 2-4 years. This gives them even more chances at top picks when that previously wouldn't have been the case. Luckiest team in sports.

Still a lot of hockey to be played so it's tough to predict where the Wings will pick but one thing is for sure they need defense, defense, defense the Edmonton model should have shown everyone that you can't outscore your defensive problems.

At this rate, we can pick a Dman in the top 10 :)

I'll take that over 4 extra games in the playoffs

For those saying we don't have good forwards on the roster, you are flat out wrong.

When you look at our forwards you have to think that we would be scoring alot of goals. Something is going wrong this year because we have the same team but hypothetically much better with additions. Hard not to blame coaching. Can't score? Glendenning gets more time on ice than Datsyuk, Larkin, AA, tatar, Nyquist some nights. Down by 1 goal last game with a minute left? Glendenning is on the ice.

Nyquist played one of his hardest games of the season the other night in Toronto, babs is still getting him to play hard and he lives 6 hours away.

Blashill has inherited the win by 1 goal philosophy from Babs, but is nowhere near as good at executing it. The D gets 20 turnovers a game and our PP is the worst I've ever seen. We have 1 defenceman who can make a stretch pass and we try it every time we have the puck. Icing or turnover. We finally get a cycle going in the offensive zone and dekeyser quincey or ericsson lob it on net the second they touch the puck and ruin momentum. All things I notice as a man who doesn't play hockey.

All of our forwards are 70% focused on playing defence. We have the wrong philosophy for our team, we need to open it up more and take chances; we have one of the fastest teams in the NH and arugably the most athletic goaltender.

#2660427 Looking ahead at expansion draft

Posted by WingsallTheway on 16 March 2016 - 11:49 AM

Theres been more and more talks recently (Especially today) that expansion is imminent and will likely be Vegas. An expansion draft would happen.

Expansion draft potential. Each team has option of protecting 3d, 7F and I goalie or 8 skaters +1 goalie. Expansion determined before draft.

GM's told expansion decision expected before June draft. If expand by 1 team, each team loses 1 player...if two teams, 2 players.Next step in process of expansion is for exec committee to make a recommendation. No expansion..1 team or 2. Most gm's think 1 team. Vegas.

I really don't like the thought of losing ANYONE for nothing, especially in a draft to get in an NHL team nobody in the world wants.

For everyone saying that no Wings forwards showed up, Datsyuk played his best game all season so lets not put him in this :)

This PP should be ashamed. It's an embarrassment every single time they get on the ice.

Its the system we have set up. Theres no pressure down low and we only cycle towards the blue line, even if we get a shot off its from the point and we don't even have any shooters there. PP coach straight up needs to be fired. I've never played competitive hockey and I can see what needs to happen.

If were lucky enough to get the puck down low the PP is too spread out so theres no separation and they cant make cross ice passes. They need to take a page out of Washingtons PP and have 3 guys on one side of the ice and set up a one timer in the slot on the other side. We could put Green, Pulkinnen, Dats, Tats, even Richards there.
