Kenny: -Mentions Glendening in Grand Rapids success like he's our prospect. -Thinks Howard can be a top6-8 goalie during the course of his contract. -Helm feeling better, will skate at development camp. -Wants to keep Kindl, says due for a raise. -"If you got 10 good prospects, 6 will make it". -Backman "going to camp"(I suppose development), then back to Sweden for another year before "turning pro". -Says the veterans on the team are excited about moving to the East, play some new opponents. -Said multiple times they're disappointed with losing to Chicago even if it was a learning experience. -Says that both sides probably could've gone longer term with Pavel, but that both were happy with another four years(in total). Hopes for one year extensions afterwards, says Pavel wouldn't ever play anywhere else in the NHL. -Thinks true cup contenders are a thing of the past. -Asked if Howard/Mrazek might turn into a Luongo/Schneider, Quick/Bernier etc. scenario. Says they have the option to play him another three years in the American league without worrying about waivers. At 21 years of age, they need him to play 60 games, not 15. Says next year is AHL for sure as Gus is signed, and then make a decision next summer if it's time to bring him up. Says he will play som pre-season games in the fall. -Would love to get a legitimate top pairing/top3 defenseman, will make room if needed. -DeKeyser, Nyquist, Tatar, Andersson, Lashoff are expected on the team from the Griffins.
Am I the only one who absolutely does NOT want to trade Tatar? As in under no circumstances should Tatar be traded because he hasn't even had one full year in the NHL to show all that he's got? I don't understand why anyone would want to trade away so much homegrown potential.
Trade/buy out the "fat", pick up an FA or two who can play a nice supporting role on this team to Hank and Pav and keep our youth and let that benefit us in the future (a la Hank, Pav, etc).
If anything, Kenny can use some of his plethora of defensive prospects as trade bait.
New rule: in order to score a shootout goal a player must 1) skate through a series of ten cones 2) skate around a midget balancing 5 plates without making him drop any. 3) jump through a ring of fire 4) limbo under a pole 5) and then put the puck in the net.
What a stupid thing to dedicate thought to. Just get rid of the shootout if they're going to take moves away. I mean what is the point of the shootout anyways, besides entertainment for the fans. The only thing I can understand is contact with the goalie, in which case they could implement a strict "no contact" rule - not ban a specific move.
Get rid of the shootout and bring in the 5min 3 on 3 OT, or whatever was being proposed a couple of years (?) ago.
That broken ankle pretty much ruined his chances in the NHL.
Bummer, I was hoping he'd develop into another Helm type guy.
This is exactly how I feel. I always hoped he would turn out to be a more offensive (obviously less defensive) version of Helm. His speed is ridiculous.
I've had surgeries on both of my ankles and I know how much that crap can set you back. I cringe every time I hear about players breaking, or otherwise seriously injuring their ankles. He did the in a preseason game didn't he?
as I said in the other thread, 1 more less and Chicago won't belong on the same ice as Detroit, better yet as someone else said, they won't be ALLOWED to be on the same ice as Detroit. The only other team I'd be happier beating would be Pittsburgh for the Cup. End this tonight, Wings and send every overly-confident, arrogant, lowlife Chicago scumbag who only discovered hockey in June of 2010 back to the hole they came from. Looking forward to tonight!
