#2420609 Datsyuk agrees to 3-year extension, $22.5m total, $7.5m/year

Posted by 55fan on Yesterday, 02:26 PM

This is longer than I expected.  I really thought he'd only want to do a year or two at a time at his age.  But, come on, we all know that real reason that he's staying in Detroit is so he can keep Dr. Rahmani.

Thrilling day in RedWingsLand.  And the people rejoice.

This is huge for free agents considering the Wings.

SIGN THAT EXTENSION, BIG BOY!!!!

Unless I'm wrong, he's not eligible to sign a new contract until July 5th.

Why you gotta do that? Can't you let me have my moment?!

Vintage Olczyk when he says the Hawks were on such a high in the first period they were bound to "come down a little" in the second period.  NUTHIN' about the fact that the Bruins were playing better.  He SHOULD NOT BE DOING THESE GAMES.

Sounds like someone doesn't want the Griffs to win this game.  :sarcasm:

Good practice for when they are full-fledged Wings?

#2419828 Wings Sign Drew Miller to 3 year extension @ 1.35m/yr

Posted by 55fan on 14 June 2013 - 11:39 AM

YES! YES! YES!

There is neither font size nor colour suitable to express my joy.

Great PK guy, low price, can chip in some offense, the line of Eaves, Emmy, and Drew was a very good 4th line- better than some teams' second.  If we've met our match on the top lines and are basically cancelling the other team out, these guys can get it done.

I'm thrilled beyond words.  I like this guy.  I like this deal.

Happy day.

Does anyone think that maybe Holland sort of seems like he wants to stand pat with this teams roster until he sees how we perform in the East next year? And then after that first season of analysis, decide which direction to take the team?

This could possibly be, although if a great deal comes along, I'm sure he'll be in the running.  Otherwise, see where we stack up against the new competition and fill in our weak spots from there.

Fans at the UC are quiet because they haven't been able to figure out when to start chanting "Detroit Sucks"

It all comes down to one thing: which Bruins team shows up. If they pick up where they left off against the Pens, and stay there, the 'hawks don't stand a chance. And that's really saying something.

But I feel like this series might go the distance, i.e. six or seven hard-fought wars.

Man, first Original Six SCF since, what was it, '79? I hadn't even been born! *realizes he's never seen an O6 SCF* I feel like such a n00b!

It is great that its an original 6 final, but to be honest I always wanted a Wings Leafs O 6 final for obvious reasons but one thing is for sure ratings are going to be through the roof.

Bruins will take it.  I'm guessing 6 but I'd like to be wrong and see them do exactly what they did to the Penguins.

#2418709 ECF - (4) Boston Bruins vs. (1) Pittsburgh Penguins

Posted by xtrememachine1 on 08 June 2013 - 09:02 PM

My favorite line from watching the sports talks shows here is "50 years from now, we'll look back on this and still have no idea how the Pens lost this series."  Watching Milbury and Jones on NBC was like watching them mourn over the loss of a friend, saying how surprising it was.  The sweep was the surprise, the results was not.  Sure the Pens had all the talent to win a Cup, but that's pretty much it.  It takes more than talent to win it.  Boston was well coached, well organized, they played a great defensive system, people were in position all the time, passes were sharp and frequent, nobody panicked when they had the puck and they capitalized on defensive breakdowns.  That's how the Pens lost. Boston was well prepared.  It was obvious from Game 1.  Bylsma will be gone, when your expectations are that high and your roster is that loaded, somebody has to take the fall.  I just hope they don't go out and get Dave Tippett to replace him.  Look at how much he got out of the Coyotes, I would hate to see him in Pittsburgh.

Badass move by Campbell. A great testament to the toughness of hockey players, while NBA players break a fingernail and miss the next three weeks.
