Leading-scorer Henrik Zetterberg was rested for the game due to back spasms and Tomas Holmstrom is back in Detroit as he rests a bone bruise above his right knee suffered on Thursday in St. Louis.
The Red Wings put in a dominating pre-holiday performance, getting goals from four different players and outshooting the Wild by a season-high 51-19. The 51 shots allowed is the most surrendered by the Wild at home in the franchise's history.
Pavel Datsyuk led off the scoring with a power-play goal seven minutes into the first period to give Detroit a 1-0 lead. The Red Wings added to it with a pair of second period goals. The first came off the stick of Johan Franzen, who circled behind the Minnesota net before finding space between goaltender Nicklas Backstrom's left arm and the post for his sixth goal of the season.
Dan Cleary made it 3-0 at 15:59 when defenseman Nicklas Lidstrom freed him on a breakaway after a beautiful lob pass that broke Cleary in alone behind the Minnesota defense.
The Wild ended Hasek's scoreless effort with just eight seconds remaining in the second period when defenseman Kim Johnsson's centering feed went off the stick of Chris Chelios and into the Detroit net.
Tomas Kopecky closed out the scoring with a rebound goal at the midway point of the third period.
Detroit finished 1-for-7 on the man-advantage and Minnesota finished 1-for-2.
Hasek stopped 18 shots for his 11th victory of the season. Backstrom stopped 47 shots in the losing effort.
