I'm watching the post-game show from Calgary and head coach Mike Babcock elaborated on Chris Chelios's injury, saying it may involve a "little bit of a fracture." Babcock clarified that he didn't know if it was a "non-displaced" fracture that Chelios could play on, or whether or not it may be a "pain tolerance" type of injury.
Chelios was struck in the back of his right leg (no padding) by a slapshot from Adrian Aucoin in the first period and immediately dropped to the ice in pain. He finished out his shift and played at least one more shift before leaving the game for good at the 11:37 mark of the first period.
We should hear more on this soon. As Ken Daniels mentioned on the air, you can expect a call-up of Jakub Kindl or Garrett Stafford tonight in order to join the Red Wings in Vancouver for tomorrow's game if Chelios is unable to go against the Canucks.
