The Red Wings have used the 90th overall selection and fourth of the draft to select Rimouski (QMJHL) defenseman Gleason Fournier. Fournier is a 6'0" 176lb. defenseman that finished the 2008-09 season wit a three goal, 28-point performance for the Oceanic that included 64 penalty minutes. Gleason possesses a strong offensive upside but needs to strengthen physically and make better decisions without the puck. Gleason, while a member of the 2009 Memorial Cup-winning Oceanic, didn't see much playing time during the run.
