The Red Wings will play host to the Toronto Maple Leafs as the 2008-09 season kicks off with Detroit's 2008 Stanley Cup championship banner raising ceremony on October 9th. The Wings will also take part in the NHL Winter Classic outdoor game against the Chicago Blackhawks in Wrigley Field and face every NHL club at least once next season, including three Eastern Conference teams twice: Atlanta, Buffalo and Pittsburgh. Detroit also has a 15-day stretch away from Joe Louis Arena in January, though the trip is broken up by the NHL All-Star break. Full schedule after the jump.
