The Red Wings helped shore up forward depth within the origanization on Wednesday with the signing of 28-year old forward Darren Haydar, who won the Calder Cup as a member of the Chicago Wolves last season. The two-way contract would pay Haydar $525,000 if he makes the Red Wings' roster. The Toronto native was the 2006-07 AHL MVP and holds the league's record for points in consecutive games with 39 (79 points overall during the streak).
Haydar, who stands 5'9" and 170lbs. and was a 1999 draft selection of the Nashville Predators, scored a goal and added seven assists in 16 games with the Wolves' parent club, the Atlanta Thrashers.
