Datsyuk signed a franchise-record 7-year, $46.9-million contract with the Red Wings on April 6, 2007. The contract is evenly spread thoughout its duration with a $6.7-million annual salary (which is also his salary cap figure). Datsyuk's contract expires following the conclusion of the 2013-14 NHL season when he will become an unrestricted free agent. ASSETS: Plays a very patient game with the puck. Knows how to make plays and set up his wingers. Has a lot of confidence in his offensive ability.

FLAWS: Could use more bulk on his 5-11 frame. Isn't a consistent goal-scorer at this stage of his career and also struggles on face-offs.
