Ericsson signed a three-year, $2.7-million contract on July 19th, 2008. The contract is one-way pay for all three seasons, meaning Ericsson will earn the full contract amount regardless if he plays in Detroit or Grand Rapids. He is waiver-exempt for 2008-09. Ericsson will be an unrestricted free agent on July 1st, 2011.

ASSETS: Owns the size NHL teams crave along the blueline. Has a projectable frame and all-around upside. Could log big minutes because he's low maintenance.
