  1. Abby! That's karma for all the diving to get calls.
  2. Could Winnik have sold that any harder? It was a cross check, but my goodness. The Ducks are making the Canucks smile about something.
  3. Kyle Quincey is a quality hockey player.
  4. Etem and Palmieri are doing more damage than Perry and Ryan.
  5. I don't think the ref was going to call that until Allen threw his head back.
  6. Did they randomly pick a fan from the stands to sing the anthem? That was a disaster. Let's do this Wings!
  7. I was thinking that too. Seems like a risky move to put someone at center with no experience at the position from what I recall. A defensive zone faceoff in a close game could be huge.
  8. That's an interesting 4th line. I don't ever recall Sammy playing center for the Red Wings in either stint here. The Ducks 4th line has been very good, so the Wings need to at least negate them. How great would it be to have Helm centering the 3rd line and sliding Andersson down to the 4th? Completely changes the look of the team.

    Valtteri Filppula's Value?

Filppula's best season came because of playing with Henrik Zetterberg. The argument works both ways.

What do we need this off-season?

In order of need, IMO: 1. A goal-scoring winger 2. Top four d-man 3. A reliable backup for Jimmy

Any pickins from the Canucks carcass?

Definitely Edler. I was hoping he made it to free agency this summer. Kronwall - Ericsson Edler - DeKeyser Kindl - Smith Amnesty Quincey. Still have Lashoff and Colaiacovo for depth.
  12. Very well done! I cracked up at the exclusive bonus material portion. Game 7 in the playoffs -- doesn't get much better than this. Been an entertaining and close series the first six games, expect nothing less tomorrow. The ice is probably going to be very bad, which makes it crucial the Red Wings clean up the passing in their own zone. They can't afford defensive breakdowns and handing the Ducks goals. It's a tough lesson to learn quickly for inexperienced players, but they need to have a killer instinct for all 60 minutes. Don't really have a gut feeling either way. I was confident the Red Wings would win Game 6 and have a shot to steal this series. No matter what, this group of guys has given us a lot to be proud of this season. Let's Go Red Wings!

WCQF Game 6 GDT : Ducks 3 at Red Wings 4 (OT) - (Series Tied 3-3)

Went to the game last night. It was absolutely nuts in there. I think it exceeded Game 6 of the Sharks series in 2011 as the loudest game I have been to live. The atmosphere is always electric for playoffs, but this was just pure noise nonstop the entire night. * The big three were the best players in the most important game of the season. Pav was a magician like usual, Jimmy stopped everything his own defense didn't gift wrap for the Ducks and Z's leadership was unbelievable. * Kronwall and Ericsson were very good defensively. Unforunately, they really stand out because the other two pairings are brutal in their own zone, but I thought both were strong again against some of the better forwards in the league. * Justin Abdelkader's presence is obvious. Never thought I would say that, but the Red Wings need him. He hits everything in sight, forechecks hard and has dramatically improved his ability to be effective in front of the net. I still think he lacks offensive upside to be a consistent first line player, but I give him credit for doing the dirty work with Z and Pavel. That line doesn't click without him playing his role. * I don't want to harp on negatives after such a huge victory, but is anyone going to miss Val Filppula if he walks? I thought he played his best in Game 5, but even then he still isn't producing anything offensively in this series. I expect the young guys to make mistakes as part of the learning process. Filppula's miscue behind the net can't happen though as a veteran player. His agent better hope GM's only remember last season. * I would be fine if the Red Wings used a buyout on Kyle Quincey the second the season ends. Or now works too. * This game really shouldn't have ever made it to OT (much like Game 2). The Red Wings handed the Ducks all three of their goals. It will be a positive going forward that this infusion of youth is gaining valuable playoff experience, but they certainly don't make it easy on our nerves. * That being said, I love this team's determination. They aren't nearly as skilled as we are used to seeing, but they never quit. It would have been easy to fold blowing third period leads twice in this series. They came back out and won both times early in OT. They are very fun to watch and in a way, this entire season has been more enjoyable than I ever expected. If this is a transition year, this organization is in great shape. Wings in 7!

WCQF Game 6 GDT : Ducks 3 at Red Wings 4 (OT) - (Series Tied 3-3)

I agree with scratching Lashoff, not so much Eaves. Honestly though, if the Wings' outcome tonight is decided by a 4th liner and third pairing d-man, they have bigger issues.

Not a big fan of taking Eaves out. He has been pretty scrappy and creating chances on the 4th line. Not to mention, with Helm and Miller already missing, Eaves is very important to the PK. Stoked to be heading to the Joe for this one tonight. This team isn't as skilled, but they never quit. Fully expect them to find a way to push this series to Game 7 on Sunday. Let's Go Red Wings!
  16. Besides Kronwall and E on the top pairing, the other two pairings are going to have inexperience and tough moments no matter how you move the four players around. Even Quincey getting more minutes isn't necessarily a positive. Losing DeKeyser was a massive blow.
  17. Can't clear the zone yet again. Haunted them all night and really most of the series so far. The five minute PP failure and Getzlaf goal after changed the game entirely. Wings had them on the ropes and the momentum instead went back to the Ducks. The Red Wings will respond on Friday and force this to seven games.
  18. That was way too close. Getzlaf got away with a ton of holding to get the puck back along the boards.
  19. I'm going with Sammy for the winner. Pav will likely have something to do with it though.
  20. Agreed. Cleary has also been very strong tonight retrieving the puck down low. Allows Filppula and Franzen to maintain possession in the zone. Cleary is very worn down physically at this point, but he still does a lot of valuable things out there.
  21. Soft call, but the Wings have no one to blame but themselves.
  22. Absolutely awful. One SOG in nearly four minutes? That's going to be costly. Had a chance to really bury the Ducks in this game.
  23. Another post. Really need to get at least one here or it has the potential to give Anaheim serious momentum going into the third.
  24. Should be a game misconduct too. That was worse than Abby's hit. I hope Cleary is OK.
  25. Probably just two minutes knowing the refs. They should have a conference to decide since Cleary is hurt.
