Exactly. I hate the "hindsight" thing. A lot of us here wanted Hossa over Franzen at the time. Hossa was and still is a better player. For the deal Hossa signed with Chicago, it's not like the Red Wings couldn't have found a way to make that work compared to Franzen's. Holland chose the wrong guy.

Z and Brunner were fine, Cleary was just there. They missed an assignment on the first goal as a line, but the other two weren't on the forwards. That was Ian White's doing for both.

Well, he wasn't in the net for one so Jimmy didn't really give up five anyways. Kronwall and White were responsible for all four. Jimmy was fine tonight. His defense turned the puck over and left two players wide open at point blank range.

I would take Huskins for sure over White right now. White is an offensive d-man, but he certainly isn't contributing to the PP. Huskins is an upgrade defensively and can kill penalties. The Red Wings really need Smith back too. He makes White very expendable.

Mickey said it best. You can't be that terrible defensively with so much missing at forward. A couple leads given up quickly and poor turnovers with a chance to win in the third. No margin for error and there were too many errors. Holland has to get a top pairing guy before the season ends or this summer for sure. The Ducks are for real, though. Impressive looking team. Nice game for the Red Wings bottom-six. Like the way Tatar and Andersson competed tonight. Same with Miller and Emmerton.

Is Val Filppula playing? A no-show without Datsyuk hasn't really helped up front. I think Fil stays on the wing because it's pretty obvious now he can't carry his own line offensively at center.

Quincey and Kindl aren't the problem at all on defense tonight and Howard hasn't gotten any help. Kronwall and White deserve nearly all of the blame on defense. Kronwall looks far from a steady number one and White hasn't been productive at either end.

Hasn't had a good one since Nick got hurt last season.

Turnovers. Kronwall and White beyond sloppy all season. Those two have to be way better with the minutes they log.

Quincey is having a strong game. Tatar-Andersson-Eaves has been the best forward line. Nice stop Jimmy with no stick.

Ian White is horrific. Lidstrom was the only thing that made him look somewhat decent. I know that was bad luck there, but it doesn't change his performance otherwise.

Boom! Tatar and Andersson with goals. Give these kids a chance. Sorry Bertuzzi and Samuelsson, but I would rather get a head start on the future.

Cleary has been awful, but isn't every post in the GDT about him enough? Seems redundant to just keep piling on.

The roller coaster continues. Only saw the third and OT, but hard to comprehend from that why the Red Wings looked so flat. Special teams are a disaster. Need the PP to get a goal in the third with those chances when you aren't on your game otherwise. Disappointing outcome against a rookie goalie. Did they even break 20 SOG?

Not sure but I don't think no SOG in 18 minutes is the best strategy to beat a rookie goalie.

What is there to know? Holland signed an aging veteran for multiple years when the team already had a glut at forward. What is Samuelsson's role when he comes back? He's not fit for the bottom six and he's a plug at best with Datsyuk and Filppula, just like Bertuzzi and Cleary are playing there. I liked or was neutral on the guys Holland brought in over the summer, but the Samuelsson move is puzzling and IMO pointless still.

Franzen over Hossa popped into my head first when I saw the thread title.
