Abby out today. No Abby or Cole makes this forward group very easy to play against. -
All three are poor matchups, truthfully. I want no part of the Rangers -- I think they are the best team in hockey. I would probably choose the Lightning. Even then, I don't think the Wings would win the series.

JIMMY HOWARD! I'm really really happy for him. Huge win for the Wings! They battled hard tonight and finally got themselves a well-earned victory. I was on the edge the entire way like a playoff game. Follow it up tomorrow and things are looking good.

This is a very mentally fragile group right now. Can't get out of their own way. What a stupid penalty for the second consecutive game.

Third straight game taking a lead to the third. Would be a really good time to lead after three for once.

No SOG in this period. Good kill, but they gotta get something going offensively now. Playing not to lose will backfire again.

4th line is really bad. They just collectively bring nothing 5-on-5.

Ottawa up 3-0 already. Might be a good idea to win this game.

Good period overall. Another costly turnover, but the Wings played pretty well at even strength. Two more like that and they should be fine.

Weiss does a lot of good things for the few shifts he receives per game.

Biggest flaw in Tatar's game by far: he is completely careless with the puck.

I think I would consider going back to Z and Pav together here soon. Plenty of depth at center with Sheahan back.

3-1 (empty net) Wings. Jimmy plays well and the boys put together 60 minutes this time.

Well, Mrazek is starting and can't win games, so I guess we should just stick with that until the playoffs are missed? -
Even if the Wings just beat Carolina twice (I know, far from a certainty right now), that would give them 97 points. Ottawa would have to get seven of a possible ten points to tie. Not unrealistic given the Senators run lately, but the Wings still control their own destiny. If the Wings go 2-2-1, they are basically forcing Ottawa to win out. Just looking for something positive because I'm too bummed otherwise thinking about tonight's game.
