Wow, this is way out of control. Pearce against Lundqvist -- that should go well.
-
That's excellent news. Opening Day is a little over two weeks away so ideally Cabrera will be healed and ready to go then. Although selfishly, I kinda hope he plays in the exhibition game against Toledo as I will be there.
-
You get what you deserve most nights in this league. Very poor effort once again until it was too late.
-
White shoots into traffic way too much. That might do it. Maybe they will try playing before the third period next game.
-
Come on boys, even it up now. Seems like they have done this about 50 times this season. Fall behind big, storm back in the third and come up just short at the end.
-
Nyquist is so slick. No reason he shouldn't be a regular from here forward. Hopefully they can get another relatively quick and keep pushing.
-
Game over. Three goals or more against in seven straight. Not sure why that wasn't a penalty, but it's fitting.
-
Me too, but very doubtful. Prust does too many things a typical 4th liner should do for the Red Wings liking. Gotta keep running Emmerton out there to bring that energy and grit.
-
PK looks even more inept already without Helm. What kind of strategy is letting AO skate right up the middle? Then all four guys collapsed back and no one was still able to clear the rebound. Huge momentum swing because Holmstrom isn't very bright. He has no purpose any longer because the PP is garbage. This team is in big trouble. This goes way beyond injuries.
-
That's honestly not a bad call. Maybe reputation somewhat, but Holmstrom has to know better. Very stupid play.
-
He's not at all. If there are still people doubting that after watching this defense lately, they will never admit E is valuable. Quincey has been a huge disappointment too.
-
Every shot is a scoring chance on this defense lately. Jimmy is getting hung out to dry. Need Nick and Ericsson back really soon. White looks lost without Lidstrom, Quincey equally lost and Janik is a plug.
-
What a dive. I expected him to be gushing blood with the way he sold that.
-
Awesome. Just what this team needed. Get well soon Helm. Hopefully the season isn't over by the time you get healthy.

I don't know for certain, but from what I have read it sounds like when Cleary gets surgery, it would be something that will have a longer recovery time than Pav's did. I also think it's quite possible Cleary would be sitting still until the playoffs if the Red Wings weren't already so banged up at forward. Probably the best option at this point seems to be just give Nyquist a chance to play with Datsyuk. The third line now has a void sadly with Helm likely out, so slide Cleary down and see what Nyquist can do with Pavel and Bertuzzi until Franzen is healthy/feels like playing again.
-
This weather lately is really getting me even more excited for baseball to start. JV will be mowing down some Red Sox before we know it.
-
Cleary is playing on one leg. That fact seems to really be getting overlooked here. Granted, I don't want Cleary playing on a line with Datsyuk either, but unless Nyquist comes back up, there aren't many other viable options left for an already depleted top-six unit.

This is really bad. Hoping for some positive results, but it looks like Helm may be out for some significant time. Clearly, this is a major loss going forward. Outside of the big guns obviously, I think Helm is the most important forward on the team in the playoffs. He always ramps up the intensity and plays at a higher level when it counts. Not to mention, Helm is the most relentless and effective forechecker on a team lacking in that aspect. His speed and ability to put pressure on the defense is invaluable. Helm also happens to be the best penalty killer on a crappy PK unit overall. Things are really going well for the Red Wings right now.

Holland probably is the best GM, but he has some frustrating flaws. The Red Wings, even when healthy, lack the firepower in the top-six to be a championship team IMO. This will be their downfall again in the playoffs I believe. A legitimate goal-scoring winger has been an area of need since Hossa left. Franzen doesn't care and Bertuzzi and Hudler are both too streaky to feel confident come playoff time. In addition, the Red Wings currently have a 4th line that exhibits nothing you would expect from a typical 4th line. They aren't physical at all nor hard to play against. Some big bodies to wear down and punish the opponents defense for six minutes per game would be so much more valuable than throwing a "skilled" player like Emmerton into a checking role. There's been too much status quo in the organization since 2008. Too many "we like our team" statements when the resources are there to improve around a strong foundation in place. I will cheer them on like always when the playoffs start, but I would be lying if I said I think they can win it all.
-
One win in the past seven games and the one win was very fortunate. All I can really say right now is Franzen has to be a playoff beast or it's going to be an early exit. The top-six is really more like three players and maybe Franzen if he feels like showing up. With all that cap space, Holland has no excuse to not address the glaring need yet again for a goal-scoring winger like Parise. Pavel Datsyuk should not be playing on a line with Bertuzzi and Cleary -- what a complete waste of the most creative player in hockey.
-
The double standard in this league for goaltender interference is sickening. Got the point at least. In the wake of nothing else going right lately, I'm sure Helm will be out for awhile now.
-
Great shot by Fil. That line has been buzzing again all night. Prepare for some extra diving and bogus calls now.
-
Haha wow, that's a solid call. Typical Sharks game with the officiating.
-
Worst 4th line in hockey. No identity at all. I'm sorry but Homer needs to hang them up after this season and Emmerton has gotten an extended look and shown nothing.
