The Tigers stink right now. If the playoffs weren't starting Wednesday, I would be quite upset. Looks like that will have to wait until June.
-
Thanks! I don't think any team cost me more points this season than the Red Wings and I of course ended up second with the loss to Chicago. I forgive them, but they better make it right on Wednesday. Also, thank you for all of your help here the past couple seasons. I know you are always here to fill in and total the scores and it is appreciated. Thank you and congratulations on winning! Well deserved and a great finish on the final day of the final weekend. You had a great year.

If San Jose loses tonight, I say the Wings show up and push for 2nd place just like they did on Friday. Oh, nevermind... Hawks win again. By a lot.
-
I love Lundqvist too, but Thomas and Rinne both had better years. Thomas is going to run away with the Vezina and rightfully so.
-
I actually like the Rangers chances in this series quite a bit. We'll see if the Caps new philosophy of defense first carries over well into the playoffs.
-
Normally next Wednesday or Thursday would be one of the most exciting days of the year, but I'm almost more fearful than anything of what the playoffs may hold. I think it's pretty clear the Red Wings have no choice but to flip that proverbial switch or the Tigers will be the only team playing much longer in April.
-
LA easily without Kopitar and Williams. Phoenix would be my second choice though I do think they could drag the series out similar to last year. Don't want anything to do with Nashville or Chicago. If Hank is out, I'm not sure the Wings would beat either of those teams and it would be tough even if he can play. I'm pretty neutral on Anaheim. Their top line is incredibly dominant, but I think the Wings could score plenty on their defense.

Good luck to hooon on this final weekend. Just like the real deal, this is going to come down to the last day. Also, a huge thanks to Kook for making this happen for us every weekend. I'm so sorry Alex Avila.

The Miller-Helm-Eaves line has been brilliant all year. I just don't know who sits though if Miller dresses. If Babcock isn't going to play Hudler with other skill players, then he may as well be scratched. Ultimately I think it will be Miller and Draper sitting out, but it's a nice problem to have at forward going into the playoffs.

If there was one F/D/G you could add to the team, who would it be?

First song I thought of was "Crowd Chant". I think somebody posted it here a little bit ago.

Is it possible for JV to start every game? Wow, the pitchers are getting blitzed so far. I know it's still quite early, but I think the Tigers wrecked Porcello by rushing him to the big leagues. He was a power pitcher and now he pitches to way too much contact. Avila needs to go sit upstairs with his dad. He's horrible.
-
Wow, 80 points in 20 games is a hell of a run.

Voted for Z - top ten in league scoring, Selke calibre defense, carried the team with Pavel out. Just curious, but seriously how can Howard get votes?

I love that guy. Detroit sporting event legend.

That relates to what I was going to post. I think Martinez should probably be the starting catcher and let Maggs DH. Avila isn't ready to play every day in the big leagues. He was only slightly better than Gerald Laird last year and that's saying quite a bit. Besides his torrid start when he first got called up, Avila hasn't hit at all. His defense is pretty solid (it wasn't today) but I would rather let V-Mart catch and then have Boesch and Wells platoon in right.

Opening Day! Finally! Let's do it Tigers.
-
Hossa was the best player on the ice tonight. I'll leave it at that.

That's a reflection on the Red Wings offense, not on Jimmy Howard's play in goal. Nashville wins because of Pekka Rinne, the Red Wings win because of their firepower up front. There are very few, if any, starting NHL calibre goalies that wouldn't have the same number of wins as Jimmy with that talent in front of them on offense.
-
Why is it anyone that questions Howard hates him? I have no reason to hate Howard or root against him - it doesn't benefit me to see him stink it up in goal for the team I want to win. Sure, the team has let him down on many nights this season but Jimmy deserves plenty of blame too. He has been mediocre at best all season and his stats in goal confirm this. The defense stunk last year too and Howard was able to bail the team out on many occasions. He isn't even giving them a chance to win some nights (the Pittsburgh game). He doesn't have to be Carey Price or Pekka Rinne but unless Jimmy Howard steps up his game in goal, the Red Wings will be lucky to win a playoff round. He's the weakest goalie of any playoff contending team in the West.
