The Wings look like a competent hockey team today so far. Small win, but this period has been pretty good.

It's hard to be overly optimistic right now because of the Wings struggles in March, but I guess I still have some hope they can turn it around. We have seen glimpses and even extended stretches this season where the Red Wings can play with anyone in the league. I think they are fully capable of giving most teams a run in a playoff series, though they clearly need to figure it out quickly for that to occur. I never thought the Wings were going to be a cup contender this season anyways, but they are a much better team than what they have shown in March too.

Too little too late. They played well in the third, but it has to be constantly deflating when you battle back and neither goalie can make a save in response. Mind you, the defense and turnovers deserve plenty of blame as well. Weiss and Pulkkinen both need to play more at even strength. I know Babs is stubborn, but when your team's season is on the line, you gotta make adjustments and find a way to maximize your chances at winning games. Pav has to come back on Saturday, but even then, he isn't going to suddenly fix everything that has gone wrong this past month. They have to collectively dig down and play 60 minutes of hockey that isn't marred by miscues and careless passes.

Weiss made that slick pass in front to Helm. He needs to play -- Babcock is only to give him four minutes anyways, but he does things during them at least.

You are aware Mrazek has given up two goals and one of them was awful?

I don't care how ugly it is, the Wings need to get two points out of this game for so many reasons.

Probably not the savior. Nobody can magically fix this team with the turnovers and Ericsson inexplicably playing on the first pair all season. Don't think the goalie matters. The Wings are just a dumpster fire all the way around.
