No one will take your comments seriously about the situation with an exaggerated and overly biased dislike directed at Ozzie in that last sentence.

I don't dislike Canada by any stretch. I said it before -- I want nothing to do with more of Sidney Crosby. Hence, there is no chance in hell I will root for Canada as much as I want Stevie Y & Babs to succeed.
-
It sucks for sure, but that's what Bettman wants for some reason. Three point games = "competitive balance"
-
This may be selfish, but I want Sweden out early so the Swedish Wings' can rest longer. Otherwise, USA all the way or anyone but Canada (sorry Canadiens, I'll pass on more Crosby hype).

If nothing else, tonight alone, proved how important Kronner is to the Red Wings.

If the right deal for a natural goal scorer came along, then absolutely. Fil is a nice player, but the Red Wings have a major need for a sniper that can find the back of the net consistently (ala Hossa). Realistically, Fil would have to be the centerpiece of any potential deal because he is really the only forward the Red Wings have that would fetch a solid return since Z, Datsyuk and Franzen are untouchable. I like Filppula, but he's redundant on this Red Wings team. Datsyuk and Zetterberg should and will be split up according to Babcock. We have plenty of strong two-way players particularly up the middle. Considering his linemates on the third line would no longer include Hudler and Samuelsson, how effective offensively would Fil even be playing with say Miller and Williams with everyone healthy? It's not about what Filppula doesn't bring. It's more about what the Red Wings need. You have to give up something to get value and it's quite obvious the Detroit Red Wings need another goal scorer badly.

I understand that part. It doesn't justify Lebda still being on the team. Maltby has filled his role just fine.

2010 NHL Trade Deadline Thread - March 3rd, 3:00 PM ET

Duncan Keith? Barker hasn't even been that strong for the Blackhawks. -
Who cares? So is Lebda -- who has been badly outplayed by Maltby this season.
-
I really don't care for this move. Maltby was quite good against San Jose and has been solid overall this season, especially on the PK. Just waive Lebda for goodness sake. I thought Holland said he didn't want to carry eight defensemen anyways. Who is the extra forward with May and Maltby gone? Meech? Is that the smartest move with all of the constant injuries at forward? We really do not need Lebda or Meech, let alone both of them with Lilja coming back. Waive Lebda, keep Maltby around. What higher level of pathetic does Lebda have to reach before the Red Wings finally cut ties? What good is having depth on defense when the players can't play defense? Call up Janik if that's the case.

Mike Green?

I miss Hudler. To me, that was another player mishandled very badly by Babcock. Hopefully he can come back and play for the Red Wings in the future. I would rather have what Hudler brings for his contract than Filppula.

Agreed to an extent. Damon can't be any worse than Guillen is in left and the Tigers desperately need a leadoff hitter. If nothing else, they have Raburn/Thomas as defensive replacements. I would be very happy with Johnny Damon coming to the Tigers.

Atlanta makes some pretty questionable trades, but this one would go straight to the top of the list.
-
The part I like most from that proposed idea is every team plays each other twice. I want to see Toronto, Montreal, and AO at the Joe once each season instead of Columbus three times.
-
Good to know. That will open up my nights more from now until April.

Playoffs: much like Zetterberg, Cleary has been a beast when it matters most.

These threads after every loss just prove that this is a truly spoiled fanbase. Look, I want the Red Wings to make the playoffs. I'm as frustrated as anyone with these tough losses. It appears more every week that this isn't the Red Wings year and time running is out. Free agency, a ton of injuries, fatigue, the list of tough circumstances the team has faced would be an uphill battle for any organization -- including one as exceptional as the Red Wings. I want them to succeed. We all do in part because we know no other way. If they don't make the playoffs, it's not the end of the world. If they make it and lose in the first round, then so be it. They have given us more to be thankful for than some fans get in a lifetime from their hockey team. If nothing else, don't count the Red Wings out. There is plenty of hockey left to be played.

Not too crazy about the Kozlov rumor. I wouldn't mind Afinogenov or especially Armstrong though.
-
Hockey followed very closely by College Football. Baseball is about the only other sport I enjoy watching now. I used to love the NBA, but can't tolerate watching that garbage now.
-
No kidding. Some people here just can't give credit where it's due. That's one reason I absolutely cannot stand most Blackhawks fans because they never acknowledge the Red Wings run of success either. The Blackhawks are the best team in the Western Conference and possibly the NHL. I hate that, but the Red Wings couldn't beat them in a playoff series right now.
-
I hate the Blackhawks as much as anyone, but that statement is just flat-out false. Chicago has given up the fewest goals in the Western Conference.
-
I agree completely. I doubt Kovalchuk ends up with the Red Wings, but man would it sure be nice.
