Agreed. Although I will say I thought Meech looked pretty solid last night. I didn't notice him like I usually do Lebda and that's all you really can hope for a third pairing player.
-
Now it is really time to put Z and Pavel back together. Hopefully Mule will be back around March, the time of year he usually heats up for the playoffs. The Red Wings defense will have to be superb until then because this is another huge blow to the offense.

For me... 1. New York Yankees 2. Ohio State Buckeyes (football especially) 3. Chicago Blackhawks

That's an extreme exaggeration and you know it. Literally almost every post in this thread is positive about May joining the Red Wings. You can stop preaching your tireless act now.

Leyland deserves to stay. He did a great job managing this season. If any blame needs to be placed, look no further than the massive contracts Dombrowski gave to players that are dead weight. Leyland did the best managing job he could with the talent he had available. My first request for next season is to make Ryan Raburn the starting left fielder. Trade Guillen, alternate him at DH with Maggs, whatever it takes to give Raburn the chance to play every day. We also need a leadoff hitter badly with speed so Granderson can move down in the order.
-
Draper's speed isn't all that essential when Helm comes back. Besides, Draper was playing the wing and Abdelkader was centering the line so the faceoffs aren't that significant either. I think Helm coming back makes Draper almost completely unnecessary.

Watching Kopecky wear any uniform besides the Red Wings is "fun" for me. What is he going to do? Skate around and fall like a doofus or take punches to the face again? The games in Sweden are over. Time to forget about it and start playing some real hockey tonight at the Joe. I hope the defense left their sloppy habits overseas. Let's Go Red Wings! :octo:

I like this move. May gives the Red Wings something they don't already have. After watching the first two games, I will gladly take any player that will add some energy to the team. I would like to see Helm and May together on a line pretty soon. There is no way the Red Wings can justify sending Helm back to Grand Rapids. Sit Draper if it takes keeping Helm and May in the lineup. I think Draper is our least effective forward now (yes, even moreso than Maltby).
-
Red Sox/Cardinals for me with the Cardinals winning the World Series. As long as the Yankees don't win it all, I don't really have a rooting preference.
-
Rodney was fantastic yesterday. I think Leyland probably tried to stretch him out a little too long, but what other reliable options did he have in the bullpen? Yes, Rodney doesn't make it comfortable at times but he typically gets the job done.
-
I would still prefer to see Z and Pavel together. For one, we know it works. Second, I think Filppula needs to be centering the second line at this point. Fil has had plenty of time to develop and we need to see now if he can handle top six minutes centering a line. Datsyuk - Zetterberg - Cleary Franzen - Filppula - Bertuzzi Leino - Helm - Williams Maltby - Draper - Holmstrom Keep the fourth line off the ice as much as possible at even strength. Ideally, I would rather have Abdelkader and Eaves on the fourth line to add some energy and speed.

That has nothing to do with what you stated. I would take 2009 over 2008 every single time.

That's absolutely crazy and I guarantee you are very alone in that thinking. I would take an exciting pennant race coming down to the last game of the season every year. We don't get many of these as Tigers fans. The only fail is your laughable proposed scenario.

I am as bummed about the loss as anyone, but my goodness, just appreciate the fact the Tigers were playing meaningful games in September and October. If you would have told me in April the Tigers would be playing on October 6th for the division title, I would have been thrilled and called you nuts. There's no shame in the way they lost today.
-
Heartbreaking loss. Story of the Tigers season: their offense misses so many opportunities to get runners in with guys on base. That ball hit Inge in the top of the 12th. I don't know what the hell Randy Marsh was looking at. No less, it just wasn't meant to be. You keep letting a team like the Twins hang around and they are going to burn you eventually. For those giving the Tigers s*** for choking, that's fair. They should have won this division without question leading seven games in early September and up three with four to play. However, I don't think any of us should be ashamed of the Tigers effort tonight or all season. The boys came to play tonight in a game where literally everything was in the Twins favor. As disappointing as the loss is, I am proud of them for playing their hearts out in a game I thought they had no chance to win. Frustrating season overall but it was a memorable and exciting ride. The Tigers weren't going to win the AL, but it sure would have been nice to see some playoff baseball at Comerica. It was fun talking Tigers baseball with all of you this season.

I agree that both were missed calls, but it is about damn time the officiating breaks went Notre Dame's way this season. Specifically, the UM game alone there were some downright awful calls. That third goal-line stand against UW was due to that infamous "roughing the snapper" penalty. I have never heard of that in all my life of watching college football.

Jimmy Clausen impresses me more every week. He seriously deserves way more Heisman hype than he is getting right now. A week to rest and then U$C at the Stadium. I am frickin stoked about this ND team.
-
I guess this is a perfect conclusion to the season. Our MVP gives the Tigers one more gem when they needed it the most. I couldn't help but think about the missed opportunities today though. Losing 5 of 6 to the Royals down the stretch was a huge difference. Starting Alfredo Figaro and Nate Robertson in two games with chances to clinch the division is pretty tough. Just imagine if the Tigers had gotten anything this season from Washburn, Galarraga, Robertson, Bonderman or Willis. The Tigers have no one to blame but themselves. Tuesday is by no means an ideal situation to settle the division. The Twins have all the momentum and the Tigers are never good in the damn Metrodome. I am completely expecting a loss but I have to give the Tigers credit in the sense that they haven't quit all season despite their many flaws. Props to Justin Verlander for a remarkable season. JV is the frickin man.

If Lilja was healthy, then absolutely I would do this. Lidstrom / Ericsson Kronwall / Stuart Lebda / Lilja I would be very hesitant to make the deal without having Lilja back.

True, but I don't see the Tigers scoring five on Joe Nathan. I am glad Bonderman plunked Young. Minnesota had been doing it the entire game. Santiago didn't leave early either -- that was a joke of a call.

Disappointing loss today. Huge opportunity to clinch the division before the weekend. Great crowd at Comerica and I thought for sure today was going to be a big win. It is almost pretty certain the Tigers will still win the division but it would have been nice to get it out of the way without having to throw JV again. We need him rested to start game one against the Yankees or it might be a real quick series. Guess the celebration will have to wait at least another day.

The Red Wings didn't sign Bertuzzi to play him with Maltby and Draper. That was Patrick Eaves.
-
I hope every player wearing the Red Wings uniform feels the same way as Cleary.
