I don't get it. The trip they called on Z tonight was the exact same as the trip last night on Pav that didn't get called. Maybe in the third they can blow the play dead early (twice) to screw the Red Wings some more.

Jackson and Auger are both really bad refs. The past two nights have been even worse than the typical poor officiating.

Buster Olney on ESPN said it's possible the Tigers will release Willis or try to demote him again to work on his delivery. Either way, he won't be the fifth starter in the rotation. I would prefer Porcello, but my guess is Robertson for the sake of having a lefty.

I don't care what ESPN says, but I do have a problem with any voter that thinks Mike Green should win the Norris over Nick Lidstrom.

West Virginia completely destroyed my bracket. Another reason to hate Bob Huggins I suppose.

Great game for the Red Wings. Ozzie was terrific again. It would be nice if the Red Wings didn't have so many defensive lapses when they get a lead. Ozzie deserved much better than the three goals allowed on the scoreboard tonight. I hope the Red Wings are just bored with the regular season and the mental focus is there for 60 minutes in the playoffs. I'm not trying to complain after a very solid effort, but it's a recurring theme this season that somewhat concerns me with this team. Z played really well and Sammy is just a complete idiot. He should really stop with the tough guy act. It's a joke to sit there and pretend he is tough just so he can become a punching bag when the refs don't break up his usual facewashing tactic. Stick to something you can do Sammy - shooting the puck into the goalie. Nobody thinks you are actually tough.
-
Good for Ozzie. He's certainly earned to keep starting with his play of late. Clean up the defensive zone some more in the last 11 games and this team is good to go for the playoffs.

Thoughts on a bet I made before season's start?
GoWings1905 replied to Black Milk's topic in General
Cool bet, but I am sorry to say you are going to lose. -
I still think San Jose is going to finish first overall. The schedule down the stretch does not favor the Red Wings anywhere near the way it does for the Sharks.
-
Ouch. The Red Wings would probably be better off just rolling three forward lines tonight. I really don't want to see Meech, Lebda and Maltby on the ice together.
-
Hossa. I don't see Franzen with the Red Wings next season.

Minnesota loses in regulation and Nashville gets just one point or less.

The Red Wings best defense this season is their offense. Keep playing the same way that got the lead. This team doesn't have the proper defensive mentality or a goalie to sit on a lead. It was a mistake and it cost them a valuable point (should have been two). Rafalski, Stuart and Kronwall have to get better in their own zone or the Red Wings will have very serious issues for the playoffs.

What does it say about the wings when they played like crap all season
GoWings1905 replied to Phazon's topic in General
All it says to me is the Red Wings are so incredibly talented that they can just outscore teams on most nights this season. The strategy of scoring 4 or 5 goals to win in the playoffs isn't going to work. I won't feel the least bit confident until the Red Wings start focusing on defense. -
I know everyone is impressed with Leino (as am I), but I really can't see Leino dressing in the playoffs over Kopecky or Maltby.
-
If Val Filppula is worth three million, Franzen is most definitely worth closer to four.
-
I would much prefer the Wild make the playoffs and the Red Wings get them in the first round. At the moment, I don't have much confidence at all in the Red Wings against potential playoff opponents like the Blue Jackets, Predators or Oilers. The Red Wings are clearly more talented than those teams, but all three would easily be capable of beating the Red Wings if they don't start focusing on defense.

Would the Wings be better off had they Pursued Goalie Instead of Hossa

You came to a Red Wings board and didn't expect Red Wings fans to defend their team? -

What is that based on? Hossa is not even close to being as injury prone as Gaborik. Hossa is injured about as much as Gaborik plays, which is not often. In fact, the lowest number of regular season games Hossa has ever played was 72 last season. The years prior to that Hossa played 82, 80, 81, 80, 80, 81 and 78 games respectively. He has played 62 with the Red Wings this season already, so he will likely play between 70-75 games again. You can be upset that Hossa left, but try to use some actual facts if you want to make an argument. -
Funny statement from a guy throwing around personal attacks.
